Milan 17,957
It's pointless to post old articles and interviews, especially with the history between Chelsea and Barcelona and Mourinho and Rijkaard, but still...Eto'o: No way I'll join Chelseahttp://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/2335708/Eto-o-No-way-I-ll-join-Chelsea''I have no interest in signing for Chelsea because I am in the best club in the world,'' said Eto'o. ''They lost their opportunity to sign me a year ago and now they do not have any possibility. ''Never will I sign for a team trained by Mourinho. He wrecked things completely with his behaviour surrounding the two games between our sides. ''I insist Barca boss Frank Rijkaard is the better coach despite however many titles the Portuguese has won. ''Now my dream is to play Chelsea again because I have many things to resolve with them. ''I am a better player than Didier Drogba and Mourinho knows that, and I am going to score more goals than Henry.''

Kojo 4,676
he is past it. winner or not. nobody cares what he has done 5 years or 3 years ago, the now matters. being a winner wont bring back his speed and dynamic he had once. i am quite sure that if Benitez would want this transfer, more people would be against it but now because of Mourinho everyone is praising him without even have watched a game from him since he joined Anzhi.ps:FutbolBible @FutbolBible 1mSamuel Eto'o will sign a one-year deal with English side Chelsea on Thursday. [Mundo Deportívo]Can people just shut the fuck up about Benitez pleaseMove the fuck on, I am sick to death of hearing comparison with Benitez and that well if Benitez did this we would be like blah blah blahMOVE THE FUCK ON
Sheva. 5,373
so you're all telling me that if at the start of the window you would have been told that the striker we'd be signing would be Eto'o , you would've taken it? :lol2:No. But we tried to sign Rooney, he fucked us around, probably to get a new deal. And now we do not have many other options. Anyway, this is just a stop-gap and we will re-assess the situation next summer, which is fine with me. Bosnian Blue 2,471
Can't believe it took them so much time and pressure from the supporters to give Frank one more year, and now they see no problem to sign a 32-yearold. Just a thought.

The Only One 2
Of course there was better options for Chelsea earlier this summer, especially long term options. BUT I think Eto'o is a great short term solution. He's still a world class striker, and with Mourinho as a coach, there's no doubt he will get 100% out of Eto'o and his qualities. Eto'o is also the type of striker we need IMO. Box player, scores a lot of goals. He needs players who sets him up, and with our midfield he will enjoy every minute.Great short term solution IMO, then next summer, we can go all in on a "long term" striker. Cavani, Falcao, and so on.Eto'o, Lukaku and Torres, gives us great quality in attack, especially if Lukaku develops the way w all hope. We will be deadly. Jay17 35
I think Eto'o is the perfect short term option for Chelsea right now. Apparently he's going to be unveiled on Thursday according to Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo. Mceachran 109
I thought signing Ba was brilliant. And that Lukaku coming back would surely solve everything. At the very least we have Schurrle to give us that striker option. Thankfully, we've signed Eto'o.

If yes, we shouldn't even bother about it then. We know that while at Inter Jose and Eto'o seems to have a good relationship.
Blue Armour 4,439
is your definition of a fact: "A thing that is indisputably the case." ?Yes, and what you stated earlier is still in dispute.
Rmpr 8,977
£7mi/season on wages for a 32yo who last played on a high level 3 years ago is a bit of an insult, isnt it?I am, we couldnt extend Didier's contract to two years and we couldnt reach an agreement with Falcao and Cavani, but we have money to buy Willian and Eto'o for, respectively, a stagering transfer fee and salary?Source (I know): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2404952/Chelsea-sign-Samuel-Etoo-7million-year-deal.html
JDY 1,290
^ According to Di Marzio Eto'o would be on around £5m for the year + bonuses. I agree that it's a lot but when you take into account he was the highest paid footballer alive, he isn't exactly going to go from that to earning peanuts.RE Didier, wasn't it his decision to leave? For me he left in the perfect way anyway.

We didn't cut him loose. It was a mutually agreed departure. And we never even got to discussing terms with either Falcao or Cavani. You have get your bid accepted before you do that and we never even bid for either.
English Freak 456
So we sign Eto'o ...that means Ba is on his way out?Strikers for this season: Eto'o, Lukaku, Torres & Schurrle. Not a bad combination.
bluephoenix 1,131
Help me understand ... i know i posted this on the willian thread but why are we going after eto who is 32 when in the first place Drogba was relieved of his duties from Chelsea in the name of "younger blood"
Mouri_Matic 560
Help me understand ... i know i posted this on the willian thread but why are we going after eto who is 32 when in the first place Drogba was relieved of his duties from Chelsea in the name of "younger blood"1. He wanted a 2 years contract on the exact same wages, not a drop in wages2. He didn't want to sit on the bench but Ron probably said Chelsea couldn't guarantee that3. He won just about everything with us so he wanted to move on anyway4. He moved to China for one final pay day before that issue with the owner came in5. Torres interview, we wanted to appease him and he wants to be the main man6. He was too old so the club moved him on to find youngster blood but mainly to give Torres the opportunity which he fucked up badly
