Jase 43,479
110% agree. we need to have more faith lads !Having faith is one thing but it's another having faith for the sake of it when it's apparent that we need reinforcements in the defensive midfielder department, and someone like Gustavo arguably fits the bill of what we need. We'll play with a box to box midfielder (Ramires) then a deep lying playmaker (van Ginkel, possibly Mikel?), can't see us using an actual DM, 4-2-3-1 with an actual holding midfielder these days is very rare. Bayern used Martinez as the box to box and Schewini as the deep lying playmaker last season, Real used Khedira as the box to box with Alonso as the deep lying playmaker...I think Gustavo was used more as a box to box midfielder last year with Bayern anyway (going on the evidence of his game vs Real Madrid)

Can't play through every game with the kind of midfield setup you mentioned there and expect to escape unscathed especially in the big games where we have been found hopelessly wanting there. Martinez maybe used as a B2B midfielder but he was also a midfield enforcer/destroyer, which I believe was his primary role last season. Khedira is also more or less in the same case there with Martinez.

Schewini the playmaker a bit more forword than them.

nadavTKL 1,787
If thats true, i think he made a mistake... Arsenal and mainly Napoli (if they made a bid) were much better options. He could have been great for them.
