The attackers would either hang in the air or would have to drop back leaving no one up front. Lamps is a brilliant passer, finisher and experienced leader, ake is nothing of that. I doubt Ake is even better at defending and intercepting than Lamps. You base that on a game against a clueless Kazan side, where Lamps played CAM. I bet if he had played DM he would have made at least as many interceptions and tackles as Ake. If we stick with 4-2-3-1 i would also not play Lamps, but there is no way ake would play for me in that game no matter what formationI'm basing it on watching many youth games involving Ake and many games watching Lamps. The fact is that our midfield is weak at the moment which is why people are talking about putting Luiz there and moving to a three-man midfield.It's exactly why Lampard's contract hasn't been renewed. The fact is that our midfield is weak at the moment which is why people are talking about putting Luiz there and moving to a three-man midfield.It's exactly why Lampard's contract hasn't been renewed.Franks contract has not been renewed is because of his age & salary. I don't think we will play a 4-3-3, anyway,I agree we will not dominate possession 2morrow. So playing Luiz-Ramires in the pivot might not be a bad idea with Cahill-Ivanovic CB pairing. Lampard was a passerby in our away game at City and United. It's completely justified to leave him out today. Not sure if it should be Ake coming in.
