Oh, it felt so good for once to have a proper striker upfront. :D

Ba did what Torres has failed to do - holding the ball up strongly, attacking the balls in the attacking third and clinically converted the chances that came his way as illustrated in the 2nd goal.

And oh, it took just 61 minutes for Ba to score 2 goals for us compared to Torres, who needed 7 months to score 2 goals.

Ba..Ba...Hope he can carry on from today and it not be a one off and leaving us think we have a striker who can score goals but turns out to be Torres mark 2 or a Torres clone in a very good disguise

Maybe can remind Torres of the fact of how to score and that not so long a go he did! Before he forgot and regressed

against stoke? no way... even rafa is not that dumb...

Something tells me that Ba will start against Swansea on Wednesday because he scored 2 goals today and then be rested against Stoke next weekend as Benitez will probably have the excuse that oh 'Ba has played the 2 previous games and Torres hasn't. He was rested and is fresh now to come back into the team' etc.

Demba BA

Signed by interim coach Rafael Benitez in January 2013 for £7 million, Demba Ba may well reignite the Chelsea fires.

With a goals-to-games ratio of one in two in the Premier League, the Senegalese striker has been signed to ease the burden on lone frontman Fernando Torres. A proven goalscorer, much has been said of Ba's supposedly crocked knees; yet the African star has a superb injury record during this time in European football. A man who is as good in the air as he is at holding the play up, Ba's more direct style will offer a second option to having Torres as the sole striker. With Newcastle signing Papiss Cissé last season, Ba also found himself operating on the wing, and this is another string to the new number 29's bow.

Due to the Football League's rules, Ba is eligible for the League Cup semi-finals against Swansea, and having not yet represented Newcastle in the FA Cup, the former Hoffenheim striker will also be available to Benitez in that competition. He will however not be allowed to feature in the Blues' Europa League adventure this term.

You can view the player's official welcome thread here, and view all the preceding speculation here!

i think we can change his jersey into our blue colours now :D
