He is a weird player, for some reason all the managers seem to feel sorry for him despite him being crap. Yesterday for example he missed an open 1 on 1, scored a pen and afterward Del Bosque praised+included him in the final squad. Same with Jose, after criticizing him after that Palace game, he was picked again a couple of weeks later. At this point his transfer fee doesn't matter anymore, and I doubt it is his reputation either. He must work extremely hard in training, even though his body cannot take it anymore.

Hope he has a great World Cup for two reasons.

1- Another club will see that he's still got plenty to offer and want to buy him.

2- If he does have to stay here then maybe having a good tournament will give him renewed confidence and he can be our 3rd striker.

Kind of surprising they have dropped Negredo over Torres. I guess their form last 6 months hasn't been wildly dissimilar and like it or not Torres has performed for them (on paper) at Euro 08, Euro 12 and the Confeds

I have read in various articles already that one of the main reason why we haven't sold Torres is because Abromovic loves him. One of the main reasons Di Matteo got sack was because of not wanting to play Torres. No, the only reason he hasn't been sold is because of his wages. No club (on his level, that would want him) can afford to match his current wages.
