Spike 12,049
I disagree. I think confidence and finishing are very closely related. Just to give you an example, I've seen Neymar fail to score goals for Barcelona that he used to score for Santos and Brazil with his eyes closed. I can't watch the videos because I'm on my phone's internet but being confident in the moment of the finishing may change everything, your composure, the type of shot you're going to use, whether you should take another step or not, whether you should try another dribble or just shoot... confidence can completely alter what you're going to do to score. Back to Neymar, I've seen him shoot the ball on the opposing goalkeeper countless times for Barça in situations where he would just chip the ball over the goalkeeper if he were playing for Santos or Brazil, solely for lacking confidence. Other times he would try to dribble too much, other times his aim looked completely off... Still he probably won't ever score as many of those goals based on pace. Which he seemed to score quite a lot.I'm talking about technique though you thick bastard. Confidence doesn't make technique suddenly better. For instance I'm a fairly confident guy but can't do an elastico with my left foot and more confidence isn't going to fix that. That's what I'm trying to convey. Confidence will improve composure and all that but I ain't talking about all that. chelseawise

Wizacar 93
Those excuses are really amusing though. I just cannot stand at all how some group of fans can even have such strong affection to Torres and constantly find excuses to defend his failure at the club. It's really pathetic when people claim he gave his all/best/100% during his time here. In fact, it's quite an insult to those who have/had actually contributed properly to the club and even more so when some of those players get/got slaughtered more for their mistakes while Torres, whatever bad things he did, was forever faultless in their eyes. Can i just mourn/celebrate Torres leaving? The whole world knows we just did an Italian job on Milan, Thought they would wisen up after P.S.G fell for same tactics with Luiz. I am glad our old/static/low esteem strikers have been replaced by Drogba Costa and hopefully Jose's final Magic Trick for the summer. I will probably say the same about Mikel when he leaves Because i respect his achievements, even though i am his biggest critic. Torres def Broke my heart in ways unimaginable but i like to remember the good times and honestly i wish him the best. WE FINALLY HAVE STRIKERS.... cAN'T WAIT FOR FIFA15
CMS 382
Funny I don't feel anything, but relief. Best wishes to him. He never left Liverpool for Chelsea. Thats the truth. Its like going out with someone that never got over his ex or her's either. You will never have a relationship with that person. iseah100

Popular Post! DavidEU 2,023 Posted August 30, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted August 30, 2014 It really is kinda sad that this relationship is coming to an end two years early. I do really hope that this guy can rediscover something, anything and just enjoy playing football again. Because ever since a couple of months into the AVB era, he hasn't done that. He's looked like the sort of man that doesn't just feel nervous prematch, like a kid making his Premier League debut at 17 filled with butterflies, he looks as though he's filled with dread every time he steps out - scared to make (another) high profile mistake that is going to belittle him and his career. On the whole though, I do believe this guy did everything to 'come good again'. He wanted it badly. But the more he tried the worse he seemed to get. Its a shame, because a long with Bolton, Munich and a few other special Chelsea memories I have I'll always remember being at the Bridge for his first goal against West Ham, or jumping around my living room when he rounded Valdes in Barcelona. I can't think I remember any goal celebrations more precisely than I do those two.So thankyou, Fernando for those two really special memories. Were they worth £50m? Probably not, but they were absolutely priceless at the time. couris, Christacinto, kobematabryant and 3 others

The only place to be 11,313
Ultimately whether you like the guy or not, it's a relief for all parties that this is now over. The constant discussion about him, the heightening of hopes when he scored a goal or the blaming of him when things went wrong was simply a distraction for everyone associated with the club.Financially it was a massive cloud hanging over the club. He's the biggest player expenditure we have on the books each year and he simply didn't justify that position. Not only was it £18 million per year down the drain, but there was also the money we weren't making off a different investment. We could afford almost any player in world football with that money, and that has an effect both on the pitch and off it.The player was wasting his career here, the club needed to move on and we as fans have a huge weight off of our shoulders. Happiness at this deal is understandable, but it's the relief that should be cherished. couris

manpe 10,861
costa should take number 9.I think this number should be left alone for a while. It's endured world of abuse these past years (Kezman, Crespo, Boulahrouz, Sidwell, Di Santo, Torres).http://www.thefootballsupernova.com/2012/01/curse-of-chelseas-number-9.htmlI think let's leave it alone, let it rest from all the shame, and revisit that number when the time is right. 19 suits Costa very well imo, he could make it his own.
