We were close to signing him for £35m that summer (bookies suspended betting on it at one point) until he signed a new deal which looked like we would never get him, then 6 months on ...... We could clearly we that we had huge problems in the midfield and with creativity and what do we get... a striker that cant perform without creativity and a center back. And that for a total of +70m.
