So Roman and the board force RDM to use Torres...even though he never suited our style of play...and then, RDM gets the sack for not being able to bring the best out of Torres.

When a player is finished, thats it. Unless he's a legend for the club, Sell him off and move on.

Anyways, my expectations from Benitez this season:

* Reorganize our defending strategy to be more solid.

* Finish top 4 in the league.

* More rotation (he was known for it, we will probably see more of Romeu and Azpi as he used to favour Spanish players).

* Make a real push in the European competition (whether it be CL or EL) and CWC.

That should be enough to consider him a success.

TX has a point though. RDM knew the score before he took the job. I think deep down he knew he wouldn't last more than a year anyway, which is why i'm sure he waited to accept a 2 year deal rather than a rolling contract. This doesn't mean RDM doesn't love the club, anyone would've done the same.

Benitez is a better manager than Di Matteo as well, you can't argue against that. Loving the club doesn't make you a better manager, it makes you a more likeable manager. Di Matteo handled the shit this club threw at him with a quiet dignity and grace that we shouldn't forget. Off the field, he was a fantastic representative for the club, when it comes to games however, his flaws were obvious.

That being said, I don't agree that we're in as bad a spell as the club obviously sees it. It's not easy to restructure a CL winning squad and still maintain a high level of success. All we're doing here is postponing transition, and it's been going on for years. The board are the ones that need examining, not the managers.

I remember in that same season he beat Madrid 5-0 thumped Maure 4-1 away (the ref of the 4-1 loss was forced into retirement at the end of the season by Ferguson Association [FA]). Only we managed to stop them with that memorable Quarter Finals performance by our boys. So yea I think he looks good but a lot ppl say he is the worst possible thing. I obviously seem to lack the knowledge of why?

Funny how everybody here is complaining about the managerial circus. In 8 years we've had 7 managers and won 1 champions league, 3 premier leagues, 4 FA cups and2 Carling cups . Arsenal have persisted with the same dickhead and won nothing.

Benitez may love to use Romeu (The whole Spanish connection). He'll try to mould Romeu into a player that somewhat resembles the play style of Alonso. I also think he'll start choosing Azpilicueta as he is a natural RB and also the Spanish thing.

Just found out he has been given the Interim boss title. which is fantastic. what a manager to get to call an interim, this makes me happy. i was skeptic, but im happy with that. still dont see the point in sacking RDM, but oh well.

I didn't really pay attention to rafa when he managed liverpool on account i dont like liverpool, could someone fill me in on typical tactics he uses? does he have a set formation that he uses or is he open to changing it depending on the opposition? if someone could give me a typical Rafa formation (and line up if you want) and some tactic pointers i would be greatful!!!
