Azpi has failed to take charge on the pitch on multiple occasions (free kicks, pens, Kepa bullshit, et etc)

are you his agent?

LOLOLOL

Yep. Azpi's idea of being a leader is making generic statements to the media and twitter. He is crap captain and is now a crap player too.

Fuck me not this ridiculous captain bullshit again. Almost as bad as the Cahill shouldnt be captain bullshit as well. Swear when its all going well Azpi is the man and if not hes this, that and whatever. Hes worth criticism for performances yes but do you think he would of retained the armband under Sarri and Lampard if he wasnt fit for it? When will people realise that the captains in the mould of Terry, Ramos, Kompany etc arent as common as they were 10 years ago either? Footballers are changing, mentally they are softer than theyve ever been. I mean if you look at the likes of City whos captain is David Silva, who you wouldnt think of as a natural leader or Ashley Young at United, Xhaka was at Arsenal etc. In terms of captains we arent the worst. But typical Azpi isnt playing well so the shit captain thing comes to fruition again.

Cahill is gone. Alonso isn't playing. So Azpi now becomes the fans' easy target to hate.

We dont hate our players.....thats a very strong word and believe me I know hate thanks to wars etc. Azpi has been one amazing player for us, consistently one the best defenders in the world. But he is spent now, he cant defend, is slow and we will keep on paying a price the longer he stays.....but a superb servant though. We just have too many dross and he is one of them now sadly. He should at utter most be back up now.

Nothing wrong with being critical but some of the comments here - especially when the same people keep on repeating them - really enter the 'hate' territory.

For me, if we are playing James at RB, Azpi has to definitely start, until we get a good LB and Rudiger returns to the CB lineup.

The current defensive lineup had no other vocal leaders and very little organization, and he's the closest we've got, no matter how much of a 'leader' he is.

Remember, Azpi was playing fine at RB when we were on a 7 game winning streak. Lampard started including James as permanent fixture in the starting lineup, not just based on James' merit, but because Emerson and Alonso played like crap in their most recent games

Emerson was terrible against West Ham and City

The comment in this section is ridiculous. Is Azpi the same player as he was in his prime, of course not,but he is perfectly fine. His performance this season has been good.

He is not perfectly fine mate.....pretty fucking far from that. I wish he was perfectly fine. His legs are gone, his heart is there but not the legs.

Only two weeks ago he kept Sterling quiet at The Ethiad then went to the the other side and done the same to Mahrez. He was also excellent against Quincy in Amsterdam.

Don't get me wrong he's not what he was and he should be James's back up going forward, however 2015 Ivanovic he most definitely is not.

Ohh Bane was utter horrid in that time frame.....he had literally nothing to give, this Azpi is much better.

He is perfectly fine. The problem is people think we are playing FM and we will sign a very good backup striker, a wc right winger, a wc left back, a wc CB, a backup rb as easy as that. In reality is not that simple, take Azpi position, let's say we just move Azpi next season, now we need a rb. What kind of rb that you want, do you want a tall one, a fast one, a good crosser, a good defender. Is he available? If so how much? Is he at the right age? Is he better than Azpi? Is he willing to play backup.

Thinking like that we will never get any players......there are plnety quality out there summer time as long as we are willing to pay. But for this season it will be Azpi and Emerson, Emerson should just get in and play for a few games and get up to speed again. But summer we should def get a good replacement.

Tbh even in Azpi best games/years, he doesnt strike as strong captain tbh. Not that old school leader type.

That said he is still best option we have.

If we had proper leaders, Azpi would never be our captain, but just because we dont and he is doesnt mean we should hate him for that.

In my post I said you rarely see those guys now a days though at club level. The more old school captains. Ramos, Chiellini and Thiago Silva, the guys I am thinking of at top clubs these days of the top of my head who are captains. Maybe de Ligt can go and be like that. Captaining Ajax and all at his age, he seems to be in that mould.

The captains in the PL towards the top end of the table, Jordan Henderson strike me more as someone in that more classic mould in comparison to at the other top clubs (never thought Id ever say it either because I have always despised him as a player). David Silva at City for instance strikes me as not exactly a typical captain. Young at United. Xhaka at Arsenal before being demoted. Same boat. Azpi is a lot better than those guys as captain material for me. Not Henderson though. But because hes not John Terry or because Cahill wasnt John Terry.... it was a huge issue. Imagine if we made Hazard captain as well with Sarri last season? Theyd be people saying the same or worse... you do need other players in the squad to step up and take responsibility too and be leaders without being captain for say, Jorginho is a guy who is in that mould for us but we havent got many more. It might come with some of the younger guys with experience, it might not.
