Barbara 15,149
I thought oscar was a creative force but he's not. He's a box to box guy that has potential to turn into the next lampard. Oscar is a shoot first guy, he has as much creativity has Ramirez and Lampard.imo he would never be a Mata in terms of creativity, but he's way more creative than let's say Ramires. Oscar is yet to play 100% comfortably in Chelsea. He will never dribble as Eden. He's a midfielder, yes, but an attacking one because he has a good pass, good finish and he can do great 2-1 plays. He's very smart and he has a great vision of the game. He can give his mates plenty of assists if he's played in the right position.I don't like to compare him to Lampard because I don't like to compare anyone to Lamps. He's Super Frank, he's been unique for us, but Oscar has much more potential creatively than Ramires.I wonder if people who argued here last season weren't right about the English football not being that much suited for him. We'll have to wait and see. I understand now what Dion said the other day about him not reaching expectations. I was looking in a different way (seeing the difficulties expected from a player that comes from Brazil to EPL), but maybe the problem is the physical style in England. He's a very light player and it EPL doesn't suit light players like him.I'm sure if Mourinho understands that he won't be able to live up his potential in the team because of the style, he'll talk to him and to the board and we'll probably offload him in a couple of years, but at least one more year is necessary to fairly assess that... Maybe he'll need as much time as Ramires needed, although Ramires is more suited to EPL than Oscar imo.
Strike 7,489
I never got why he was so extensively used in the right-side of the attacking midfield band. He is a central player Mufassir08 and The Skipper

I think he's just slow in decision making because the game moves too fast for him, that's why he shoots so ofte. I really think playijg the pivot might be his best bet, but I'm not too convinced about his passing either.

But not as monstruous as he is now. Even though Oscar can tackle and press being short i think that he needs to play more deeper to have more space and a little more time to think and orchestrate(he can do it! Or i hope so LOL) the game... Also, why do you guys think that he played better against UCL teams? Why would Di Matteo start him against Juve but not in the EPL? If you watch one game of the brazilian Serie A you will get it. The pace and the rhythm of the game in both championships are way slower than on the EPL matches... That's why England had so few Brazilian players on the field... If even europeam players struggle here in the first years... Imagine one comming direct from Brazil. Of course there is exceptions like Coutinho and Juninho(cousins) that take the fast rhythm of EPL all good at first try, but that is for being made just right for their way of playing. When Oscar just came from Brazil some people even said that he was made for La Liga and that we wold have to wait and give him time.Anyway, i'm starting to think that we have serious problems with Oscar... We might end up selling him and regreting later.

But I'm starting to worry about his future here.
Chelsea? 892
even on this magnificent goal, it would have been much better option to pass it to lukaku, especially from a #
yuvala 2,167
even on this magnificent goal, it would have been much better option to pass it to lukaku, especially from a #10Dunno if a MUCH better option.. Mata probably would have, but that's cause he doesn't have the shot.Shooting and passing to Lukaku were both good options. Since he scored, it was the right thing to do. NishC300 1,865
Oscar was great at #10 which was really pleasing to see after he had some stinkers at #10 vs the likes of QPR.This thread is so quiet. Our hero Ctrl+F saved me.
