Superblue 6,372
This game enforced my opinion that he shouldn't be played in the double pivot, but rather as the CAM in a 4-2-3-1 or in the Lampard role in 4-3-3. I don't know where that leaves Hazard and Mata, but he definitely must play. 4-2-3-1 is fluid enough not to worry about the positions, Oscar can exchange between either flanks.Agreed, he's too good to be given a disciplined role within the pivot. As I've said previously central in a 4-2-3-1 and he seems more than happy to drop deep and help the pivot start attacks, and sit in to create a more compact 4-3-3 when defending. Hutcho 8,443
Literally i can't wait to see these 3 in a line, i am not saying we are gonna go from losing to brighton to world beaters but it should eliminate some (NOT ALL) of the problems we are having, and that should have a knock on effect... I.E.Greater players on the ball = more possesion = less posession for them = less need for our double pivot to play too advanced = less vulnerable on the counter = more chances for us = more goals for us..Obviously this is way too generalised and simplistic and all "in theory", but the addition of oscar and Mata can only improve this squad... And Oscar gets free reign in the CAM position which he doesn't have in any other position, as he doesn't have the pace of someone like hazard to play on the wing, which imo would be a waste of his talents... Also him being too deep, will just cause what lampard did as he may venture forward and leave us vulenerable on the counter... Also i don't think he needs to be used in a defensive manor, but him playing at cam will help our defence as he can drob deep at times and drift across the pitch as we have all seen him do for brazil. Kinol 337
Oscar started the game on the wings and didnt make a impact and we all saw how Brazil started the game... the minute he went to a more central position Brazil just grabed the game in their hands. Oscar needs to play in a central position, the number 10 role fits him the best but would be good as the 2 behind in a 4-2-3-1 formation. I really dont want to see him as a winger. If Hulk comes then i suppose it would have to be:Mata Hazard Hulk Mikel OscarBut i don't know.... it would be a completely different team, and is one of the reasons why i am not too bothered about hulk coming... Ramzi 233
If Mata Hazard and Oscar can all accept their roles and create good chemistry, we will have a top 3 attack in the world.

I think he is told to roam around the pitch working possession and covering whichever wing or deep player had advanced. He is a true Brazilian number 10. He is like their 'get out of jail card', he is normally always available and this is just the kind of player we need to have starting in the hole behind Torres. Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
yeah i dont see a fault in hazard oscar mata. all roaming. im actually happy we went with cheap(er) cm and cheap (rw.) i mean were'nt we all debating months ago (modric or hulk, modic or hulk) but we got OSCAR! its amazing what a good scout team does, and boy we have a good one especially in (south america!).idk what to say, just has soo much upside. he has nice eye for goal, great distribution, hard-worker.just wana see him play in chelsea blue. warnie_666 1,081
For all those who think Oscar will play No.10 role, you all are in for a disappointment. He will mainly play the Pirlo Role. He will play in the Pivot and spray passes around the field. In other games he will also play the no.10 role but I am sure he is brought to play the playmakers role from the midfield. In the games I have seen he collects the ball from the defense and works it around and goes up the field and again falls back when they lose possesion. I think if we saw Mata playing with that brazil team, we'd be saying he needs to be our #10. Just because Oscar is good at #10 doesnt mean he won't be as good in a formation similar to 4141. But I'm not sure how we'd look defensively.
BlueLyon 9,359
Olympic games are helping Oscar lot in moving to Chelsea, London and Prem league. Much better than direct transfer from Brasil to england. He still has lot to learn in terms of not losing theball that often (Im bit harsh to him, but sometimes he tries too much). Other than that, he is briliant player to have. Surely key for brasil if he will evolve properly. I just hope we wont ruin him as he is very young. warnie_666 1,081
Unlike several others jizzing over Oscar after vieweing the Olympics where most are under 23 players, I feel he will struggle in Premier League in the first season. Brazilian players from midfielders to defenders to strikers are ball hoggers. Oscar will learn the harsh way that in premier league you cant keep the ball with you for too long as the game moves fast and tackles are flying. Ramirez and Luiz experienced it the hard way. He is the playmaker in the midfield and he will have tackles flying at him. He is just 20 and he will learn. He will lose the ball as a result and this could harm us. His pace fits within the PL style and he is technically really good.True : Not to be jizzed upon, but he is the biggest talent apart from Neymar in that Age bracket. And now he is ours. Spike 12,049
Oscar, Hazard, Mata will all drift towards the centre limiting width. All three will also try to dictate play and probably just end up getting in each other's way.

Just because they've played through the middle for 6-7 months doesn't mean they forgot how to act as wingers. This kinda shit is getting so overblown. AND EVEN IF YOU'RE RIGHT, and they all drift towards the middle, they all have silky passing with the capability of playing 1 touch football with each other. There's really no downside to what you're talking about.

Valencia is a winger, you know why he is a winger? Because he stays out wide and gives the team width. Mata and Hazard have never given width to teams nor is their job to.Winger = Antonio Valencia, Angel Di MariaAttacking Midfielder = Juan Mata, Eden HazardInside Forward = Hulk, Cristiano RonaldoWide Midfielder = Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Florent MaloudaSeconday Striker = Alesandro Del Piero, Zlatan IbrahimovicTarget Man = Didier Drogba, Alan ShearerPoacher = Fernando Torres, Alex PatoYou see just because they occupy the same area of the pitch doesn't mean they are the same type of player. Tbh the closest player to a winger we have is Marko Marin and you could even pass him off as an attacking midfielder. We still have no wingers. We have not had any proper wingers since Robben and Duff. I really wany a player that will stay out wide and give width. He doesn't need to cross the ball in or anything like that, just stay out wide, to create space and prevent congestion in the middle, which is what is going to happen. That is the reason I don't want Hulk, becuase he is going to look to shoot before passing and is going to cut inside like Robben too often. Apparently the deals close so I imagine he'll be our right winger.
