DYC. 7,542
Sturridge's finish isn't at his best because he hasn't been given an extended run. Give him 2/3 more 90 minute games at CF and he'll regain his touch. He actually has a good finish as we can attest to last season.I remember Sturridge getting a lot of stick for messing up good opportunities last season. He mostly scored tap-ins last season if I remember well, a good finish here and there. His finishing has always been his weakest point for me as a natural striker.Better than not shooting at all though.

Sturridge has a good finish on him, since his youth career the lad's scored tons of goals. He just needs a consistent run in the team - at Bolton he had a couple of great finishes and the same can be said about the first part of last season - you don't score 10+ goals from out wide after half a season without being a good finisher. If you specialize in scoring tap-ins, you're shooting doesn't need to be special at all.But what are we talking about, doesn't really matter. We'll see how he'll manage if he gets a chance. Tomo 21,751
When I see him with the ball I feel like punching him in the face, knowing he'd most surely take a wasteful shot, destroying our attack. That's worse than losing the ball and destroying our attacks? Jase 43,479
Look how many more chances we had when he came on, he's SO much better than Torres. Just give him 2 or 3 more games and he'll be firing. He has to be #1 until January.That. I would happily stick with him upfront than Torres even though their finishing is woeful. At least Sturridge is threatening in the attacking third by making dangerous runs, getting into threatening areas, quick and look hungry for the ball. The same can't be said about Torres. termninja 5,290
Should've done better, but at least he is getting into positions and looking dangerous...something I cannot say for our other striker who seems to be afraid of scoring. I'm fully confident that if we give Sturridge 10% of the faith and support we gave to Torres he will use it well and start banging them in on a regular basis... Sheva. 5,373
I said during half time he was playing well and he did even better in the 2nd half, just really wish he had put in at least one of the chances he got.He did enough though to warrant a start over Torres next game and that's what i wanted most from him. DH1988 1,348
Agreed. Made brilliant runs but simply not played as a striker often enough to put them away in my opinion. Needs to start its like asking kalou to play on the wing for years and then pay him centre forward and expect him to finish like a striker simply doesn't work like that in the real world. Def want him to start up front for us though. Excuse any typos on iPad

Sturridge is better suited to being a winger though imo.
DH1988 1,348
That was my point Danny originally a Cf like kalou. Give him a run of games and from what we saw today in movement and willingness to get into the box, unlike Torres, he will get us goals. Studge is a good winger but lacks the discipline to be successful for us our right side is totally exposed. It should of worked for Kalou because he was actually a CF when he moved here. Not a winger. Playing him on the wings in a 4-2-3-1 system just leaves our RB/LB more exposed.I'd be surprised if he stays at Chelsea beyond this season because he's not getting many minutes and he's not suited to the lone striker role. DoubleO 192
What I like in Sturridge is that he's always active, he WANTS to score (and many times he is in the right place at the right time to do so), he's fast and he has a good technique. But to become a world-class striker I think he should become better in the air and ofcourse, pass more. But at the moment, I think he's our number 1 striker. KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
Interesting to see what we'll do with him him in January. He won't be first choice with the inevitability of Falcao or some other Striker on his way. He'd make a good backup striker. Although he doesn't want that and if we stick him on the Right Wing he won't want that either. Unless he has a change of Heart (Doubt it as he is a cunt) then he will leave. We definitely need to buy 2 Strikers.
