Phil Driver 503
He is ready for a big club if his performances are the guide and fair enough if he wants to stay at Southampton and not play in the champions league and not win medals ,but if and when he decides he is ready to play for a big club that club should be Chelsea. He is ready for our first team now and if I were at Chelsea I would be letting him know that when he is ready to move to a big club ,that big club should be the club he supports, we should be chasing English players with his kind of talent with urgency. The only place to be 11,313
And my main point is we have a scouting failure at the club for us not to have signed Shaw BEFORE he signed his new deal with Southampton in the summer,he is and was a very obvious transfer target for many reasons .You should write a letter to the club, telling them about this Luke Shaw kid. Make sure to include a photo so they know who to look for....maybe a link to Google Maps so they can make their way down to Southampton.
Phil Driver 503
That might help as it is as far as I can see ,he plays for Southampton only 1 hour from Cobham and a short flight to Manchester and until he signs for us ,the discussion should continue. The point is that he's a great young player, but if he came here he'd be third choice in all likelihood. I'd love us to sign him but I can see why he hasn't left, why Southampton haven't chosen to sell and why we haven't put a bid in yet. Having a pop at our scouts seems entirely unfair. I'm sure they're aware of him but they don't make the decision to bid for a player.
Phil Driver 503
If he came to us he would be joint first choice with Ash to mentor him for a season ,then it will all be his next season in my opinion ,that would be my talk if I were trying to sign him ,he is 17 and is going to be one of the best in the world ,telling him he is third choice will not convince if that is what we are doing. Yeboii 1,844
When Cole leaves/retires and its up to Bertrand or Shaw then im sure Shaw would be first choice.

Cole and even Bertrand have much more experience on him, I mean much much more experience. Bertrand has played nearly 200 championship games and however many PL games here now, few England caps, Champions League winner, Europa League and well Ashley Cole is Ashley Cole, 100+ England caps, PL winner, FA cup winner, CL winner, Europa League winner....... Reddish-Blue 2,512
At Shaw's age, he needs first team football to keep developing. No point for Chelsea to buy him..unless Southampton agree to sell and take him back on loan for a season or two.. Waterfall 893
Just signed a long term contract to keep playing first team football at Southampton. He will stay until we make a move after Cole eventually retires. If he can be even half as good as Cole's been for us, he would be a huge signing for us

Pizy 18,958
Yeah, it'd be a pretty bad oversight if we let a lifelong Chelsea fan go to our biggest title rival when we have 32 year old LB who probably only has a couple seasons left here. Mouri_Matic 560
Worth at least £15m in today's market and the fact that he is English only make the price go up.
Phil Driver 503
This kid is getting better by the week ,I see Utd are sniffing ,we should not let that happen. Chelsea players who are English and support the club and who also are going to be world class are at a premium,he should only be moving to our club and seems a pefect fit for what Jose is trying to do with our full backs, ie quality in the opposition half . If Luke ends up at Utd I will be seething.

Fantastic LB and only 18, will only be a matter of time till he gets into the England squad surely. But for now he should stay at Southampton. A move would be best for him when he is certain that he will the no.1 choice.

Phil Driver 503
Or at least be sure that when he does leave Southampton his destination is SW6 , Utd should be well aware that when he leaves Southampton he is Chelsea bound ,i do not like it that Utd even think they have a chance of getting him. My worry is that our scouting team do not recognise his talent and are obsessed with foreign players. Not having a go at Bertrand who is a good young player ,but he is not in the same class as Shaw . With our policy I doubt we would make him firs choice LB for a few years. Something that United might offer him. Like the case with Chamberlain, heard he supported us when he was younger but for his career he was always going to move to a team like Arsenal. CHOULO19 24,332
He was very good yesterday, but it's weird how he is getting all the hype and attention when Nathanial Clyne, who is also very young, was just as good if not even better.
