I remember having this exact same type of conversation re every single member of the old guard at one point, not saying for definite that the result with Eden will be the same but still. bluesman2610 1,417
Some have said here Eden would decide while on vacation what his next move is. Madrid made offers of that I am sure which we declined as we don't need to sell and Eden himself never asked the club to sell him. Decision made right there. He showed up - Eden always has sluggish preseason and with being back for 2 days hardly enough time to get back into sync with Chelsea new style of football. To one point he is back at training he legitimately does not need to sign an extension day 1 back from his holidays he needs to focus on getting match fitness back. and secondly he could have forced the issue with what we have seen in player power not just with Courtois but in world football , he has chosen to be a Chelsea player. Let go of the doom and gloom - too many glass half empty thinkers here. 20 minute cameo to get some minutes in his legs clearly not sharp yet but that's your cause for concern. Madrid don't buy players this age and they need a goalscorer, not Hazard. Why wouldn't Madrid want him next him season? IMO, if he doesn't renew the contract, there's a good chance they can target him for a much lower transfer fee, plus one more player who is more of the 'galactico' goal-scoring category like an Mbappe/Neymar or even just a fantastic goal scorer like Icardi. It will be like the time they got Kaka and Ronaldo. Also, from Hazard's perspective, it would make sense to join next season considering there will be less pressure. He won't be viewed as 'Ronaldo's direct replacement'. The way I see it, thanks to Courtois or not, Hazard's head is already turned. The only thing keeping him right now is the fact that Madrid haven't strongly pushed for him, and plus, he has a sense of loyalty to the club and its fans, which is why he isn't handing in a transfer request. The only way I can see him renew the contract with us, is if we are absolutely flying this season not just in terms of stylish football, but also in terms of results. The one thing I hope the club will learn is to be prepared the next time a superstar is gearing to leave. The Courtois situation was too uncomfortable for my liking. We had to do it with Drogba, and we will have to do it with Hazard eventually. Meaning, have the next superstar lined up as early as possible. Wouldn't worry about Hazard. If he really wanted to leave he could have easily forced his way out like Courtois. He always stated he was happy here. Said this before but it wouldn't suprise me if he signed a new deal. Like Jason says it's a 20 preseason game and he's been back for 2 days. Is he now saying : 😆 oeps I’m still here 😂 no problem I got this 😉

It will be Neymar to RM. Mbappe is going to be the face of PSG. Neymar isn't gong to love that idea. Works for everyone. LAM09
Thor 2,699
Hazard has been great for us. The best player we've ever had. If he does leave, I'm cool with it at this point. He has given the club a lot, but we are also in a position where we have a great up and coming left winger. CHO would be able to take the reigns in my opinion. Losing your best player isn't the end of the world. I'd love for him to stay. I'd love for him to finish his career with us. But Fergie with Man U often got rid of his best players earlier than some people thought was a good idea, and still managed to get his teams to take a step forward isn't of regressing. In all though, lets hope he stays lol... Atholy and akgw13

Milan 17,956
I absolutely loved how he joked and laughed with Jorginho before the last free kick. He needs someone on his wave length.
