Eden has been here for a full season now, but I still fail to actualyl realize just how good his dribbling and running with the balls is

Such a stunning player to watch and an absolute gem to have :dude:

Jose will do him well and I think we can realistically expect him to really show us what he can do now since his 1st adaptational season is over :eyebrows:

Hey Guys ... on the Bale goes to Madrid thread the comparison with Eden came up. So I made a post I would like to share here as well. I hope you don't mind.

It is indeed easy to be biased. But I feel a lot of the bias favours Bale. Most on here are English or watch a LOT of EPL - no offense guys. Jus ....Eden Hazard had a past you know. And a better one than Bale by all means. I know The french league is considered weaker .... but the numbers on Hazard will speak for themselves.

Now, to avoid a bias, let's see some data! We will have to keep in mind Eden is two years younger and would actually have two more years time to surpass the Bale stats (which he actually does now already. Because I a a lazy mofo i will just Wiki this shit :-) I have done it before in the Hazard thread with official stats ... pfft not again.

Lets see Bale. They both have a two year age difference so I will start their 'career' stats with a two year lag to compensate.

Gareth Bale:

From 2005 to now a total of 60 goals. Last year 8 assists (Whoscored.com). Everyone knows his Curriculum of performances.

Now Eden

A total of 63 goals and 68 assists in TWO YEARS LESS. Granted a lot in the french league, but the difference is not that, that this number is meaningless. That claim would be hybris galore.

Add to this Eden's Curriculum:

• Best player on European Championship -17 (with Bojan)
• Debut for the NT at 17
• 1 time French Champion in 2011
• Coupe de France in 2011
• Best young player of the french league 2x 2009, 2010
• Best player of the French league 2x 2011, 2012
• Ligue 1: in squad of the season 3x 2010, 2011, 2012
• Ligue 1 player of the month 4x march 2010, march 2011, march 2012, april 2012
• Étoile d'or France Football 1x 2011
• Trofeo Bravo 1x 2011
• PFA Team of the Year 1x 2013
• Europa League 1x 2013
• Player of the month here at chelsea ... Forgot when
• Almost 30 NT caps (Bale 41 but + 2 years)

This all gives me the impression people rate Bale higher because he simply was more salient - more visible for the EPL audience. Somehow I find nothing in the numbers, titles, awards from pundits of players that justifies placing Bale on a much higher platform. Nothing seems to justify the humonguous, astronomical numbers paid for him - especially if you consider Ronaldo's performances when he got transferred. Bale has a highly aggressive style that payed off this year. even more than Eden he will have to 'confirm' this year at Real.

am just glad we have Eden and the numbers tell me I am right - as well as my heart.

Eden played like Maradonna with Lille, he was the main man, everything went true him.

If Eden would play with Tottenham he would be more importend, with Chelsea you have Mata, Oscar and other good players.

This year Hazard will make a next step and take away all doubt.

People can analyze however much as they want, but the simple fact is this - THEM GOALS!!

Bale scored them goals, he scored them screamers, he scored them game winners, he scored when no one else on his team could. Bales moves to Real and he just becomes part of the team and his hype will die down guaranteed, if he stays at Spurs he is the team and his hype will never die down and will only soar even if his teams gets better and helps him more because regardless of the help he gets, Spurs will always be considered HIS team as long as he's there.

Hazard was overplayed last year which is also why he was injured to the end of it and not used perfectly by RDM and Benitez, both managers not exactly known for their ability to develop players. Still he was extremely influential. Now we have Jose. He made Lampard the best player in the world 8 years ago, now he will do it with Hazard.

But first he has to lose that little bit of fat and regain the last bit of pace he needs to actually break past defenders and not only run along them.

He won the young player of the year twice in a row aswell. In the 4 seasons he played for Lille as a regular starter he won an individual prize every season.

Also Lille hadn't won the Ligue 1 in over 50 years.

Last year:

Hazard: 9 goals 16 assists = contributed to 25 goals.

Bale : 21 goals 8 assists = contributed to 29 goals.

Now going soley by the stats Bale did have a more productive season than Hazard.(not that much though ,4 goals)

However when you take into account that

-this was Hazard's first season while it was Bale's 6th season in the PL.

-Hazard was overused due to inadequate squaddepth

-Hazard had to share the ball with Mata and Oscar while dealing with Torres up front

-Hazard is 2 years younger than Bale

You start realizing that Hazard actually already is a better player then Bale.

Also i've reread Stingray's post. Nowhere does it say that he thinks Hazard was better than Bale last year.

He only said that he was glad that we got Hazard and that he thought Bale was getting to much credit and (wrongfully) being put on a higher platform.

And he's right. I mean some people rate Bale as the third best player in the world but there's only a 4 goal contribution difference between him and Hazard.

If Bale stays in the PL Hazard will overtake him, this year, in goals contributed, i'd put money on it. Hazard is the better player.

He's been in the starting team in 4 of the 5 LOSC friendly games in a 4-4-2 diamond, up front associated with Salomon Kalou (which is excellent as a striker). He scored 3 beautiful goals and created many more chances. He is expected to be on the starting eleven for the first Ligue 1 home match against Lorient this saturday, you should check it
