zyzz 711
Jose this jose that fuck Mourinho his no God he has a terrible record in the transfer market and I think this is one of the stupid ones You should remember that a football club is also a business and when you have to chance to get £40-50m for a player that cost you £25m and isn't even first choice then you'd be stupid not to accept the offer. He's a great character and I wish him all the best at PSG
Korea 734
I disagree with this, because Luiz was showing that consistency in the second half of last season (something a lot of people seem to overlook), and also carried on this form into the Confederations Cup for Brazil. He was just very unfortunate when he came back - injured, no real rest over the summer and no pre season whatsoever... That set him back a bit this season because he was well on his way to really establishing himself as a top CB this season. It's not that he isn't suited to the PL, it really just depends in what system he plays, as with any player. For example, I think he would've been great at Man City, especially next to Kompany, or maybe even Liverpool or Arsenal. He just isn't as useful in the system that Mourinho implemented. But that happens - same way how JT was barely used by Benitez last year and looked pretty much done as a top CB... It doesn't mean that he suddenly lost it all - just that it took a different system to bring out his strengths again and that's why he's been magnificent in general this time around. As I said before, in the right system he'll be invaluable to any team especially if he has a good season. He does obviously have the ability to play for a team in the stature of ours, hence why clubs like Bayern, Barca and PSG were after him.Demechiles really turn around and played well for CIty this season. I can only imagine how Luiz would of played paired up with him.. Teams like bayern, barca and madrid would of been great fits for him as well.I'm glad for both the club and Luiz that they bought won out on the deal. Now, I'm waiting to see who Jose brings in................. The Skipper
Miki-Liki 405
Although I liked Luiz, 50 million is a rip-off! He's good, but he just doesn't suit the Premier League.
Popular Post! The only place to be 11,313 Posted May 24, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted May 24, 2014 I've never been his biggest fan but he deserves many thanks for his time here. I think he got the most out of the chance to be a footballer at this club and there was some genuine affection between him and the fans. He'll go down in history as being part of some wonderful moments. As a squad though, we're neither stronger nor weaker than we were a couple of days ago. We've sold a player who wasn't a key member of the first-team for a stupendous amount of money and the club deserves a huge amount of credit for not only getting the absolute maximum amount of money for a squad player, but for also putting him in the French league where he can become vastly overrated on the flattest of flat-tracks.I don't think he improved as a defender between the time we bought him and the time we sold him and if we can invest that money wisely then he won't be missed. This is just another great day for us as supporters as it's another endorsement of the faith the club has in Jose Mourinho to build a new team, whilst also being another reminder that we have one of the best boards in the business when it comes to negotiating deals. The only place to be 11,313
What about the points he has won? By that logic, we should be selling JT after that own goal...I was listening to Pihl Vickery talk about Johnny Wilkinson. He was obsessed with being the best player he could, working tirelessly on the training pitches to arguably become the best rugby player of his generation. He also made mistakes. Every sportsman does. But Vickery said that when he did, you didn't blame him or fault him because you knew how hard he worked and how much he would beat himself up for that error and learn from it. JT is the same.I would never put Luiz in that category.

Popular Post! LAB 1,030 Posted May 24, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted May 24, 2014 I agree with The Skipper. Consider how not only Jose but Rafa also utilized him in midfield. That alone tells me that we need someone with similar qualities in midfield but not in CB role because it doesn't suit us. We don't play with aggressive CB, not our style. Great for teams like Barca or PSG though. He will be one of their key players. So many thanks David. The passion you showed for this club was fantastic. I will miss that more than anything. We can only hope that leaving Chelsea you take good memories and the love of the fans with you. Good luck !!!Luiz legacy this season: PSG home, City away. Immense in those 2. BlueLion. 21,491
i can't say i like how Jose has sold 2 players we considered to be our future 'core'. Especially when he replaced Mata with an average player like SalahHe's sold and replaced two players surplus to requirements - for nearly £80 million - with one of the world's best holding midfielders and a promising utility player, making a £50 million profit in the process which will be spent on reinforcing areas we need to strengthen. I'd say he's done a damned good job, Stingray, Ainsley Harriott, darrus and 1 other
BlueLion. 21,491
Glad he's going, to be honest. Surplus to requirements, and if someone is stupid to offer THAT amount of money for someone who isn't good enough to be our first-choice centre-back or an adequate enough option in midfield (square peg, round hole...), then you take the money and run. Cheers PSG, happy to do business.David Luiz the MAN is worth £50 million. As a player he's not worth a quarter of that, in my honest opinion. Give me a "safe" option, i.e. Cahill, any day of the week. didierforever and SpecialistsInFailure
didierforever 7,349
It's amusing that you bring up the Atletico game because I can count on one hand the number of bad performances Luiz has had in a 'big' game. He nearly always stepped up to the occasion, as a defender AND a midfielder ; if anything he was often guilty of playing to the level of the opposition when we faced the lesser lights.i dint bring the ATM game as an example of DL's poor performance. infact he was decent on the night. i brought it up to show EH17's "minute" mistake and how our tactics dont have much margin of error. No I got your post; mine was directed at the notion that Luiz would be a liability in big games. He raises his game based on the opposition. A big game player is a mature one but you have to wonder why he rarely showed that level of application against the other teams. For 3 years we talked about his talent and 'potential' to be world class but now that he's 27 and not reached that level except for the odd run of games here and there, people are bringing up his conflict with the Chelsea system as an excuse. I don't disagree with that line of thinking, maybe he will indeed be better suited to PSG's style but fact remains we've sold an incompatible enigma of a player who's not fulfilled his promise for a world record fee which will hopefully be utilized to address the glaring need(s) identified by the manager. didierforever and darrus

LAB 1,030
I believe this ^^ is disrespectful. Are we going to go through the same thing every time we sell a player that someone loved? We got £40-50m for David Luiz!!! Ridiculous amount and its not like he was that great for us last season. Now lets watch Mourinho build us another great team. It's normal for people to express their emotions. It's normal for fans to attach to players. Fans are people therefore....Great business but greatly loved player too. xPetrCechx, The_Flash, iseah100 and 1 other

Are you saying Luiz is more often than not useless as a defender? Not worth even 15m? mate, that was bushman level, sorry to disagree massively. Also, no doubts PSG will have one of the best, if not the very best defensive partnership in the world if they don't sell Silva. Luiz and Silva is a match made in heaven for defending, they compliment each other very well. Jase, zolayes, Korea and 4 others
coolhead23 1,147
There are times when players can lift up the team by being there... For me Luiz was one such player ... always want to give more than 100% to the cause (would never forget the small prayer with the hand on Torres), got in positive vibes everywhere around. Yes he wasnt able to take his potential to greater heights at Chelsea but he contributed in his own little way, one of the few players who had an emotional connect with the fans ... A cult figure.... Never thought he would go ... And here we are with an amount so insane that u just cant say no ...... Crazy world of football!!!!!!!! All the best to the Greezer .... U will always be loved by Chelsea fans all over .... StrategiC
MrBlueGuy 1,552
sorry, Alex. That's nonsense... Are you saying Luiz is more often than not useless as a defender? mate, that was bushman level, sorry to disagree massively. In most cases, that is why Jose had to move him to midfield. As a defender he is probably not even in top 15 best in the world, maybe not even top 5-10 in the BPL so should be around 20m max. But as a footballer he is capable of moments of brilliance like scoring a 30 yards free kick, that is why he is so highly valued. Not to mention his brand and marketing with the likes of Adidas...etc. But as a footballer, anything over 20m is overpriced for him.
