Not really. He has done well on his few outings. Helped us win a Penalty Shoot Out against Everton last year. He is perfect for 2nd/3rd choice keeper.

Sort of unfair question.

Blackman's sitting in our reserve squad while Courtois is playing for a good European side in a top league. Until we see Jamal in that kind of environment it's a pointless comparison.

I would like to bring this up: Since Cech will be our #1 next season, will Courtois be complacent with being at Atletico? I hear Real Badrid are on his tail and they will likely propose an enticing offer.

So, should we bench Cech and promote Courtois, or sell him to the white scum? There is an outside chance that he will stay with us as a #2, but not a good one.

Courtois has already said that the loan agreement includes at least 2 years in Atletico and 1 (or 2?) years somewhere in England. I think the plans have already been made and they will stick to it. After 3-4 seasons on loan he will be more than ready to challenge or overtake Cech.

In my opinion, he is definetly again on loan at Atletico Madrid. That is why we exetended contract with Hilario.

You could say that, but when even the 2nd choice keeper doesn't play much in a season, that kind of exposure a 3rd choice keeper gets would count for little. I do think Hilario should be moved on though. He's become a bit injury prone this season as well.

Courtois is too good and too young to be on the bench day in day out. And it will take more than a few mistakes for us to demote Cech who deserves our full confidence

Competition is never a bad thing. Yes Cech's stepped up, but having Courtois impose on his presence in the squad will make the former raise his game on another level.

Courtois will spend at least next season on loan again, and maybe another after that. To have a young keeper playing every week in the Spanish league and playing in Europe and even winning the Europa league is something you just cannot replicate and we would be crazy to take him away from that environment until we are ready for him to seriously challenge Cech.

Blackman is a very good goalkeeper, but the problem with him is the same with pretty much all our youngsters, how do we help him progress out of the first team. He has been with the first team squad all the time lately which means that he has not even been playing reserves football, youth cup has been his only game time. What do we do with him next season? Loan? It is hard to get a good loan for keepers. At the moment we have no way of given our youngsters the sort of exposure Courtois has had up till now, but Blackman can be a quality keeper.
