Wavy Crockett 190
no never has worked, never will.only reason discussion is up is because people feel they currently both deserve to start games, which I agree with but no..Drogba mostly shows up for the big games anyway

LDN Blue 7,903
We're not a 4-4-2 club and never will be with Drogba leading the line. His presence on the pitch sends any other strikers out wide.
Waterfall 893
Sure we tried playing both of them and the result wasn't pretty, but that was when we couldn't do anything right. I think we should definitely experiment this partnership if we get the chance.
Ollie 4,400
Whether it's 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 Torres' actual football ability is fantastic. They can play together imo, even if Torres was out wide. I'd use it on Weds but just not in the UCL, too much of a risk perhaps. Keep the winning formula for now.
Kezza 1,965
IF (big if) they were to team up I'd go for Back 4Kalou/Rambo-lamps-raulMataDrogba/Torres-Torres/drogba
didierforever 7,349
playing them together and also mata would mean no natural width, but i have a kind of a premonition (given our next 3 matches are newcastle-pool-pool) that in one of the matches we will have to put both together as our last option, just hope its not the fa cup final. Superblue 6,372
Champions League final -CechBosingwa/Ferreira Cahill David Luiz Cole Mikel Essien Lampard Mata Torres DrogbaThat would be the way to incorporate our best players into the side for the final, given the suspensions. However I agree it is a huge risk, but perhaps one we may need to do.The FA Cup final will be interesting. If Torres scores again against Newcastle, does Robbie stick with him or bring back in the man who has a legendary goalscoring record at Wembley and in domestic cup finals?! capriccioso 2,545
It's been tried and its failed. Why mess with a proven formula in the 4-2-3-1?
tmessy 139
drogba will ruin torres' playing style... force him out wide... tbh torres' is a "lazy" player... one who waits on the edge and just does the easy work (in his prime) [but he is THE BEST at it, and it works] and has tremendous dribbling ability with his pace and vision...drogba wants the ball in the air or with his back to goal so he can use his strength to bully people (its easy for him that way)and torres is too timid and soft spoken while dd is vocal and intimidating...the ONLY way this would work is if 1. dd can sacrifice goals for assits and vise versa (even though torres has no problem assisting [in the past and atm])drogba to hold up the ball and exchange a through ball to a running torres...(but that would force DD into an Anelka spot)and 2. torres and DD stay stacked (like rooney and hernandez) or stay parallel... one of the players cannot drift out wide...thats my take... Waterfall 893
Drogba isn't really a selfish player so I don't see why that would be an issue. For a target man who's often isolated, his assists #'s have always been pretty high
Kieran. 6,317
Torres and Drogba played well together vs. Wigan and Napoli.
Justin_3d 1,140
A very split poll by the look of it.I voted yes. Before it did not work cause Torres was a ghost! Now that Torres is getting back in form, and Drogba been on fire for the last few games, it merits a chance.I think it should be tried before the final of the UCL. Is better to test it now, then to try to risk that in the final as some member suggest it.
Shogun 721
Everything tells me no based on how they have done so far together, but if it worked, it would be an unbeatable strike duo.

Henrique 9,133
I think Cech has the answear: "I dont know if it would work".We are in the final stage of the season, and every game is crucial (two cup finals and every point in PL is a must for getting into next CL), so of course its no time to try something you dont if would work.and come one guys, we already know it just doesnt work... manpe 10,861
i'm not sure how Cech can say that "one day it will happen with goals".. as of now Drogs is playing his last few games for us, and it's doubtful there'll be "one day" for them. francozola 2,040
No way. Torres will never get back to his best if Drogba is on the pitch and Drogba doesn't play as well when Torres is there.
