Dear god, PL was not formed with the objective of keeping the status quo of a few as such. It was not formed as an "exclusive for members" only club where your participation was guaranteed no matter your performance.

It was a move solely based out of money, but still kept the ethos of competition as FAIR. Understand?

I am not comparing them as the same. Just asking if there was resistance to the change.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "My feelings didn't change. My opinion didn't change [from when he has criticised Super League suggestions in the past]. I heard for the first time about it yesterday. I was trying to prepare for a difficult game.

"We got some information, not a lot. Most of the things in the newspapers. It's a tough one. People are not happy with it, I can understand it. I can't say a lot more because we were not involved in the process - not the players, not me - we didn't know about it. We will have to wait how it develops

More managers will voice their views come shortly

And the rest...

More from Jurgen Klopp: "I'm 53. Since I've been in professional football, the Champions League has been there. My aim was always to coach a team there. I have no issues with the Champions League.

"I like the competitive aspect of football. I like that West Ham might play in the Champions League. I don't want them to because we want to but I like they have the chance. What can I say? It's not easy.

"What I want to say as well, I've heard a few things but what I really don't like, Liverpool football club is much more than some decisions. The most important part of football are the supporters and the team. We have to make sure nothing gets between that. I've heard there are banners but the players didn't do anything wrong. We have to all stick together. We can show nobody has to walk alone in these moments. There are things to sort but nothing to do with the football or the relationship between the supporters and the team.

"In tough times you have to show you stick together. It doesn't mean you have to agree with everything but again the boys did nothing wrong. I want to make sure everyone knows that.

"I understand it. I am in a different position. I don't have all informations. I don't know exactly why the 12 clubs did it. I know some things will change with football in the future. Some things have to change in football that is for sure.

"Usually you have to prepare these kinds of things, it takes time."

“In its place a single league stage, which includes all 36 participating teams, would be devised which would see every team guaranteed 10 'league stage' matches.

Five of those matches would be at home and the other five would be away from home.

The top eight sides from that 'league stage' format would progress to the knockout stage automatically.

Those remaining sides running from ninth to 24th would then enter two-legged eliminators to determine the other eight teams into the last-16”

Hows this new CL revamp supposed to be better? Uefa needs to show something better.

I notice the managers of the clubs affected are all sitting on the fence 😁 and making meaningless statements- if they slag it off the owners wont be happy with them

The timing of the statement makes me wonder. Could it be that discussions in the background did not satisfy the big clubs nor the possible discussions brought any compromise for neither side, and they wanted to make a statement to "one up" UEFA's imminent public proposal? Either way I'm more than certain that these things will play out - there's too much money on the line for all sides involved. And I must reiterate - UEFA/FIFA /... are NOT the victims, they're all the same.

I think Dortmund, Porto, and RB Leipzig will be advanced to the semi finals

I think they should take us Real and City out and put the likes of Porto through, Dortmund through and make Leipzig/Atalanta play and put one of them through as they played against Liverpool and Madrid. It would send a message.

People may think is a bit ridiculous but they have to send a message.

There are also rumours we and City are looking at a way out if it already, due to the backlash from all the governing bodies and fans etc but honestly, thats even worse than joining it in the first place due to fear of missing out/being left behind. Knowing it wasn’t the right thing to do by the fans and jumping in to it with reservations is an absolute embarrassment and everyone one of them should be sacked.
