Well in Europe sports play far bigger role in society. American sports series aren't even real sports, they are just a tool for showing advertisements

Yeah, but to whom does football belong ? Rules ? Regulations ?
Here in Europe it does n't belong to the government either - except if you mean the era of Greek general Aslanidis (blessed his soul).

I am reading the Sports Minister is saying a fan buy out is a possibility. Anyone know exactly how such a thing could happen? Honestly, I think it would be great if the fan's owned the clubs, just don't see how that is possible or how such a thing could be run?

This is a stupid question but I'm confused about something. Having read so many things about it, has the Super League actually happened? I know they have announced the plans for it but on one hand, you have the government, the FAs trying to stop the Super League from happening and on the other hand, UEFA and FIFA already threatening bans on clubs and players.

If it hasn't happened, can FIFA and UEFA even impose bans on the players now? Can a club still make a u-turn? And as I said earlier, how is it even fair to punish the players when they were not even part of the (horrendous) decision making process to form the Super League? Why are they getting punished for someone else's greed!? Hell why are we fans even getting punished for someone else's greed!? Both the players and us fans are essentially on the same innocent boat!

As much as the players are 'employees' of the clubs, it's incredibly unfair and pathetic that they get banned from playing international competitions etc for something that they were not part of in the process of forming that Super League. Why are they getting punished when the club owners were the ones that made the decision to be part of this? Club owners made the decision based on greed but the managers are the ones having to face the awkward questions in the media and the players are the ones having to face the consequences in regards to their playing career. It's a fucking joke!

If the players do not make a stand against this then i'll have no sympathy whatsoever for any of them!

Everyone is saying the power is in the hands of the owners, but it simply couldn't be further from the truth.

On top of the massive fan power, If the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar. Mbappe, Klopp, Pep et al, took the lead and said they will have nothing to do with it, the whole thing would collapse overnight like a house of cards.

Yeah, legally speaking, how on earth can UEFA or whoever ban players from competing when they themselves haven’t actually done anything wrong? Seems like an extremely easy legal battle for the players to win.

It's wrong. Truly wrong to ban players who had no say in any of this it seems. That would be just as a disgusting move as what these greedy fat piggy owners have pulled.

Taking that train of thought.

How about all the other clubs suing the ass of the Super League for not allowing them to compete for the right to play in it?

Discrimination and a restraint of trade and all that.

Its a joke, politics have no business in sports and nor should it.

Part of me thinks surely the club is prepared for this shit storm. SURELY they must think they can avoid being kicked out of the domestic league and this year's CL?

If they are prepared to accept shitstorm (kicked out of CL this season, severely punished by PL/kicked out of PL) just because of the dollar signs in their eyes then they are cunts

They sold out......the owners and the clubs involved will never be seen in a good light

They cant......a super lawyer said today neither PL or Uefa can win this battle in court.

UEFA ain’t gonna do shit. Neither will the PL, neither will the other European leagues. They need these big clubs more than the clubs need them.

Interest and therefore viewership falls through the floor without these clubs, sponsorships dry up, TV broadcast money dries up.

This is the obvious gamble and bet the Super League teams are making. There is a massive backlash initially but they all realize that they hold all the power here.

And what makes you think that the club can survive on the ESL money alone?

They need the PL money too, otherwise, they would have already thought up of a sub for that too. Or be willing to simply breakaway. These 20 odd games or even if they increase it year long league, is not going to make a fan happy. The charm of it will wear off.

The clubs need that money as much as PL needs them.
