Lampard: The weak link

 Share

Recommended Posts

I said before that he should have joined Inter a few years ago but he stayed and his effectivity in the team went downhill from there..

Really? Let's see. Jose left in 2007, and Lampard was speculated to join him in 2008. 2008/09 - 20 goals, 19 assists. 2009/10 - 27 goals, 20 assists (best season so far). After that it's been downhill, but he produced 2 of his most notorious seasons after being linked to Inter. So, wtf are you on about?

^ That's not a coherent sentence btw.

You are the most delusional, simple minded & narrow minded poster in the history of this forum.

He might be, but i was told the he favor Bielsa over AVB. So for that he gets prop from me.

I like person that stick to their ideas and don't jump bandwagon...like people wanting AVB to replace Carlo and now wanting him out.

AVB was never my first choice but I am willing to stick with him through the tough times and good one.

Lampard being the weak link ? Certainly not.

We don't really have a weak link (if we were to have a weak link, I would say our passing game). But we have a multitude of liabilities/bad things - which if isolated aren't a major problem / are a negligible problem - that are additioned together and are forming a major problem. This is exactly our problem, to my eyes. Even if we fix two or three of them, we won't solve our Problem as we have too many of them to fix.

Indeed, our bad things in the squad, are : Cech, even if he is not poor, he doesn't have the level he had last year, and we have dropped relatively a lot of points because of him ; Bosingwa ; Ashley Cole who isn't as good as he used to be, and doesn't excel ; Meireles, who has been piss poor for the past three months, and has a lots of lack in his play ; Malouda, with his below-par passing game and poor pace ; Torres ; etc... This is just to name a few, and this is just our problems within the squad. If you take them one by one, without considering any other aspects, then they look relatively easy to fix and quite minor. But when they are being additioned with problems regarding the management, the board, the squad depth, etc... They are forming a whole difficult to analyse and to fix.

As for Lampard is far from his best level, and he probably shouldn't have a starting role if we were a team competing for the title. But he is not that bad. And when you get a look to our other option in midfield, he is still being one of our best midfielder and should be in the starting eleven, in my honest opinion. If you ask me, he should be played instead of Meireles. The later man offer us nothing for a long time, now, and even if Lampard doesn't offer much more than the portuguese in the building of the game and in a defensive aspect, he still manages to get goals.

My final word, it will be an hard task to solve our Problem (I speak about the whole) and it will take a lot of time. And the key to solve it isn't to sack the coach, or to target one player in particular (in the sense of making him a scapegoat.

So instead of valid refuting of the point presented earlier in this thread all we see are the expected "don't touch lampsy" posts and later derailment. Disappointing.

Well the squad trying to play like Lampard is a creative player, when he actually is more of a finisher.

Lamp always benefited of great crosses and support from the side and behind.

That has not been as of great in the last two seasons.

We never really replace Deco, Ballack, Cole and others.

Not this again. Think the last time people wrote him off, he end up scoring a hat-trick and some vital goals for us along the way. I agree with people that he probably shouldn't be a starter anymore but he's definitely not past it. He can still play a role for us.

Effectivity went downhill since then? Really? I guess you must have such a short term memory that you forgot his goals, assists and contribution to the team when we won the FA Cup under Hiddink and the double under Ancelotti.

I realise stats are sometimes miss leading, but the man is our top scorer this season and third best assister, that has to account for something. Yes he is not the player he was 2 years ago, but he remains a much better option in the middle than Raul or Malouda. His goals alone should be enough for him to start atm because our forwards are not delivering.

I think we need to apreciate Lamps a bit more, not for being a legend or what he did for the club but for what he is currently doing. Any PL team would beg to have Frank in their ranks .

Now since Josh is on loan at Swansea,I have no problem with Lampard starting every game for us.Its not much of a loss for us because FRANKly hes better than Malouda and Merierles. When Josh does return back to Chelsea,I would want AVB to play him more often and use Lampard as a super sub. Also Malouda and Mereieles will need to leave in the summer so that Josh can get more chances otherwise it will be the same scene for him all over again.Don't understand why people think Lampard is the problem.

What im on about is that your taking the facts for those specific years, whereas u didnt take into account the situation we'd be in as we are now... the situation now is that we have players considered legends (they r legends) and we're having a hard time building a successful team because of them.

Ya Jose left in 2007, that season we almost won the league and CL.. the year after that we should have won the CL (this is 2008/09..the yr Jose wanted him at Inter)... He stayed and won the league the following season.. now we're here.

So I maintain what I said considering in the last few seasons we could have possibly developed McEachrean or brought in some younger players and by now we would have a successful team for the next 5 years at least.

Remember the summer when Fergie said our team is too old to compete for the title? Well we proved him wrong and won the title, but after that we're absolutely shit.

ya i mistakenly thought that he was wanted by Inter at the end of that season with Hiddink.... anyways if he had left at the time we wouldnt be in this mess today.. I love Lamps and he was arguably one of the best and he's a legend... but right now he's shit.
