I'd rather use that 80 million and buy Kante and Bonucci. Besides, Fabregas-Pogba midfield would not survive against top teams and even team like Leicester might have a field day against us.

We don't use 2 in the center any more not under Conte unless our last years formation was a club thing. Last I knew that was Mourinho's system and Conte does a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2...

I would love Nainggolan/Kante Matic Pogba with Hazard and Pedro on the side. Fabregas on the sideline and used in rotation.

I disagree that he's not worth it - because he'll be a valuable player for them for years, a world class player. He will be worth the money spent.

I hope we start signing more players, we need to fix the very obvious at least...our defense and midfield.

The problem is Pogba is not world class and he is definitely not worth 120m.

We have to wait until Conte is revealed as our manager they said, we have to wait until Italy are out of Euros they said, we have to wait until Conte is installed on Cobham they say now..

I still don't think he's any better than De Bruyne. He is hyped up because he is talented, but he is nothing out of the ordinary (makes a few nice passes, scores some youtube reel goals) like so many continue to think he is.

Never thought of that comparison but it's actually kind of a good one. I'd make a bet that Pogba doesn't put up the numbers Kev did last season for City. And he was injured for a bunch of the season.

Pogba is the flashier player but De Bruyne is currently more consistent.

Seen a lot of bullshit going around these days on how Ibrahimovic and Pogba would now be Chelsea players "had Mourinho stayed here". Plus a lot of wank hashtags "#Ambition" and shit like that.

From what I have read, should this deal go through, the numbers would be insane - ‎£105m the transfer amount, ‎£300k p/w for Pogba and ‎£25m for his agent, Mino Raiola.

Right now most of the Mourinho fan boys must be thinking "Hell, it could have been Chelsea instead of United if Mourinho was still here", but I wonder - how many of those would still agree with these obscene numbers being thrown around.

I bet this forum would be in meltdown had Chelsea, with Mourinho still here, tried to sign Pogba for 105m, give him 300k p/w, plus an extra 25m to his agent. And rightly so. Top talent, but nowhere near worth that.

We paid this kind of money back in the day (inflation), helped a lot our cause. A lot of people would be real happy, as Perez once famously said: the most expensive ones 'almost' always end up being the best players/investments.

Last year most people would have welcomed the Pog with open arms, imo.

We can do with cheaper players, but there's a reason why a few players command this sort of price, it's there for a reason. There's only one Paul Pogba!

I do agree with you, but at the same time I think this theory (expensive players almost always end up being the best) goes mainly for household names. Yes, Paul Pogba is probably in TOP 10 most known football players ATM, but for me not a world-class player. Not yet.

Not saying he will not live up to the expectations, could end up being the best midfielder that has ever played this game, or could flop big time, nobody knows that. What I am trying to say is that now, 7th of July 2016, for me, Pogba is more of a huge talent, a diamond waiting to be polished, rather that a household name.

When Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale were transfered by Real Madrid for record breaking transfers, they were already huge players for their respective teams, coming off a sensational season. Pogba? I dont know. Is he even Juve's best player? By worldwide recognition probably, but in terms of influence? Is he really the catalyst in that team?

For me, for a midfielder to demand such a high amount of money, he must be someone in the mould of Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez or Luka Modric, someone majestic, with a lot of flair, that has this natural ability to be a leader on the pitch, to dictate the tempo, to be so smooth in possession that when you watch a football game you are left for words, amazed by their elegance.

What? We've seen it up close and personal over the last few seasons in the PL. Hazard, Suarez, Bale, and RvP to name a few. They each did it throughout an entire season.

I disagree. Goals aren't the only way to dominate a game. Yaya toure is a perfect example of how a player can impact a game without scoring a boatload of goals. Pogba is of the ilk.

Having said that I don't think anyone player can dominate a game... At least not on a consistent level. Goals are huge but there are more aspects of a game that impact the outcome.

At the age of 23 Ronaldo had pocketed a Champions-League winner's medal and been voted best player in the world. Pogba can't compete with that, admittedly though, far from a shame. What's up with the Pogs? A multiple winner of the Seria A, played a Champions-League final and now one of the reasons why his country plays in another European final. I liked what i saw last season. Point is, i think a comparison with Bale might come in handy. As good as Bale was at Spurs, he didn't win a thing and couldn't reach a European final, it was all for nothing and in Madrid, he went through some rough spells. He still needed time, but finally he has stepped it up, Euros show how he's matured. He wasn't always known as a leader, but these days, one could hardly argue against it, imo. I argue that Pogba isn't far off, controversial.

What i give you is that it could be questioned whether or not Pogba is a 'specialist'. In which area of expertise has the boy graduated?! Some people say he's a jack of all traits, master of none. Still, the ability to provide that one pass that splits the whole defense wide open, simply the moment of surprise, combined with a lot of other stuff is worth a lot of money. Frank Lampard is a unique player, the better player in the end (Lamps got the brains), but Pogba could master in a similar field, imo.

I'm having a hunch that you're of the opinion that Pogba isn't a 100 mil. player. That's one opinion, maybe he's a bit of a luxury player, i get that. Furthermore you look most times for different things in midfielders, Pogba can't become a Xavi, but maybe he can pick up some traits of Iniesta. A long way to go, sure. As you've mentioned, personally i have been impressed with Kroos, he makes teams tick, maybe for him you would pay 100 mil. bucks.

These are players that are better than Pogba(only midfielders):Kroos,Modric,Busqets,Iniesta,Matuidi,Verrati,Vidal and there are more.

I don't think many of these players are comparable! I'd put Kroos, Modric, Verrati in one style. Vidal and Matuidi in another. Iniesta, Busquets and Pogba in their very own. To be frank, the player Pogba reminds me most of is Yaya Toure at Man City, the version that never bothered to defend and was a powerful offensive midfielder.

You can't find players who are exactly the same those player play the same position and they are all better than Pogba.
