For this sort of money you'd just expect to get someone like Ronaldo, Messi, or Neymar. A player who can singlehandedly dominate matches on a consistent basis and score 30, 40, or 50 goals a season. Good as Pogba is he isn't that type of player. He doesn't really control and boss games.  He's the ultimate luxury player.

He'll be excellent for United but the fee will always be ridiculous unless he wins a couple of Ballon d'or's.

No one player can dominate a match.

What? We've seen it up close and personal over the last few seasons in the PL. Hazard, Suarez, Bale, and RvP to name a few. They each did it throughout an entire season.

I'd rather use that 80 million and buy Kante and Bonucci. Besides, Fabregas-Pogba midfield would not survive against top teams and even team like Leicester might have a field day against us.

We don't use 2 in the center any more not under Conte unless our last years formation was a club thing. Last I knew that was Mourinho's system and Conte does a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2...

I would love Nainggolan/Kante Matic Pogba with Hazard and Pedro on the side. Fabregas on the sideline and used in rotation.

I disagree that he's not worth it - because he'll be a valuable player for them for years, a world class player. He will be worth the money spent.

I hope we start signing more players, we need to fix the very obvious at least...our defense and midfield.

The problem is Pogba is not world class and he is definitely not worth 120m.

We have to wait until Conte is revealed as our manager they said, we have to wait until Italy are out of Euros they said, we have to wait until Conte is installed on Cobham they say now..

I still don't think he's any better than De Bruyne. He is hyped up because he is talented, but he is nothing out of the ordinary (makes a few nice passes, scores some youtube reel goals) like so many continue to think he is.

Never thought of that comparison but it's actually kind of a good one. I'd make a bet that Pogba doesn't put up the numbers Kev did last season for City. And he was injured for a bunch of the season.

Pogba is the flashier player but De Bruyne is currently more consistent.

Seen a lot of bullshit going around these days on how Ibrahimovic and Pogba would now be Chelsea players "had Mourinho stayed here". Plus a lot of wank hashtags "#Ambition" and shit like that.

From what I have read, should this deal go through, the numbers would be insane - ‎£105m the transfer amount, ‎£300k p/w for Pogba and ‎£25m for his agent, Mino Raiola.

Right now most of the Mourinho fan boys must be thinking "Hell, it could have been Chelsea instead of United if Mourinho was still here", but I wonder - how many of those would still agree with these obscene numbers being thrown around.

I bet this forum would be in meltdown had Chelsea, with Mourinho still here, tried to sign Pogba for 105m, give him 300k p/w, plus an extra 25m to his agent. And rightly so. Top talent, but nowhere near worth that.

We paid this kind of money back in the day (inflation), helped a lot our cause. A lot of people would be real happy, as Perez once famously said: the most expensive ones 'almost' always end up being the best players/investments.

Last year most people would have welcomed the Pog with open arms, imo.

We can do with cheaper players, but there's a reason why a few players command this sort of price, it's there for a reason. There's only one Paul Pogba!

I do agree with you, but at the same time I think this theory (expensive players almost always end up being the best) goes mainly for household names. Yes, Paul Pogba is probably in TOP 10 most known football players ATM, but for me not a world-class player. Not yet.

Not saying he will not live up to the expectations, could end up being the best midfielder that has ever played this game, or could flop big time, nobody knows that. What I am trying to say is that now, 7th of July 2016, for me, Pogba is more of a huge talent, a diamond waiting to be polished, rather that a household name.

When Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale were transfered by Real Madrid for record breaking transfers, they were already huge players for their respective teams, coming off a sensational season. Pogba? I dont know. Is he even Juve's best player? By worldwide recognition probably, but in terms of influence? Is he really the catalyst in that team?

For me, for a midfielder to demand such a high amount of money, he must be someone in the mould of Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez or Luka Modric, someone majestic, with a lot of flair, that has this natural ability to be a leader on the pitch, to dictate the tempo, to be so smooth in possession that when you watch a football game you are left for words, amazed by their elegance.
