The monies mentioned was ridiculous, but Kaka is one hell of a player. My concern would have been where do we fit him in our team! We have more than enough world class players there already - it never made sense to me.

Kaka to Chelsea deal 'still a possibility

Kaka believes that a world record transfer to Chelsea remains a strong possibility and that he could be a Premier League player before the end of this month. Chelsea have made a €100m (£78m) offer for the Brazilian forward, who would be prepared to move to London if his club, Milan, accept it.

Even though the world footballer of the year has not requested a transfer from Milan and is contracted to the club until 2012, he has been unsettled by their handling of him in recent months. The 26-year-old was prevented from representing Brazil at the Olympics in Beijing despite his club allowing summer signing Ronaldinho to play and last week the club's doctor questioned Kaká's decision to undergo close-season knee surgery.

A move to Chelsea would allow Kaká the opportunity to play Champions League football this season and to work under Luiz Felipe Scolari, the coach who handed him his first cap for Brazil.

'I spoke with Kaká yesterday,' said Diogo Kotscho, the player's personal assistant. 'We know that the clubs are talking about the transfer, although they have not reached a conclusion yet. I think an August transfer is still a possibility, though Kaká will only talk about that when they do a deal. He is waiting for a deal and then he will start to negotiate with Chelsea.

'Normally, Milan do not sell their best players. We think they like the proposal, but it is not so easy for them to accept it. For now we must just wait and see.'

Kaká's recruitment would further swell the Portuguese-speaking core of Scolari's Chelsea, though the player himself has been studying English for several years with a potential move to the Premier League in mind. Chelsea have also offered £19.7m to Real Madrid for their unsettled Brazil forward Robinho, but the Spanish champions insist he is not for sale.

On Kaká, a Chelsea spokesman said: 'The club's position remains unchanged. Milan have said that the player is not for sale, so we are not in negotiations with them.'

From 4thegame.com 19August

Reports suggest that AC Milan will let Chelsea target Kaka leave, but only if the Blues pay £70million for his services. The Stamford Bridge side have been linked to the Brazilian throughout the summer, but Milan have always said they want to keep him. Now, however, it appears the Italians may sell him for the right price. But a move to London is no certainty. Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is thought to be more interested in prizing Robinho away from Real Madrid. And with his price tag being £35million, a move for the Madrid star is more realistic.

Cheslea to move for Kaka as Robinho bid falters?
By Soccernet

Updated: August 20, 2008, 11:07 AM UK

Chelsea could be set to focus all their attentions on trying to land AC Milan star Kaka after Real Madrid emphatically slammed the door on the Stamford Bridge club's attempts to secure the services of Robinho.

The Blues have been courting 24-year-old Robinho since July when Chelsea appointed Luiz Felipe Scolari, but are now expected to accept defeat in their bid after the player's agent revealed that Real are refusing to discuss the possibility of a move.

Wagner Ribeiro told the Daily Star newspaper that representatives of the Real hierarchy failed to show for a planned meeting to discuss Robinho's desire to move to the Premier League and Chelsea leaving the deal dead in the water.

'The dream of Chelsea is broken because Real Madrid will not even negotiate. It is impossible to advance any conversation,' said Riberio. 'Next summer we will sort out the situation if people can show some sense.'

Robinho, who is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2010, is reported to be disappointed with Real's stonewall tactics as he had been excited about the possibility of a move the Premier League and the chance to work with fellow Brazilian Scolari.

Talks between Real and Chelsea are understood to have taken place earlier in the summer, but neither side could agree on a transfer fee. Real are believed to have rejected a bid in excess of £20million.

The possibility of luring 26-year-old Kaka from the San Siro now becomes a distinct possibility for Chelsea, the only stumbling block could be the Serie A club's £70million valuation of the playmaker.

Just as with Robinho, the possibility of linking-up with former Brazil coach Scolari could prove appealing to Kaka who has played 162 games for Milan scoring 54 goals for the club since his arrival in 2003.

The expense of acquiring Kaka which would almost certainly eclipse the current world transfer record of £46million set when Real Madrid bought Zinedine Zidane from Juventus in 2001.

However, Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich could afford the deal and the club may view the signing as a marketing coup as they seek to establish the club as one of world football's most important brands.

Terry willing to accept £70M Kaka as Chelsea's biggest earner

tribalfootball.com

Chelsea have opened talks with AC Milan star Kaka over a world record move to Stamford Bridge.

The Independent says Kaka has opened informal talks with a view to moving to Chelsea.

Chelsea's owner, Roman Abramovich, and his advisers believe the player can be bought from Milan for between £60m and £70m.

It is understood that the talks to bring Carlo Ancelotti from Milan – he was formally announced as Chelsea manager yesterday – involved discussions between Adriano Galliani, the Milan vice-president, and Chelsea's chief executive, Peter Kenyon, about Kaka. Milan's agreement to release Ancelotti from the final year of his contract was dependent upon Chelsea bidding a certain price for the player.

Kaka's wages would break the Chelsea pay structure, at the top of which are John Terry and Frank Lampard on £135,000 a week. However, Abramovich and his chief aide and club director, Eugene Tenenbaum, believe that they will have the support of Chelsea's two most famous players to sign Kaka on wages of around £150,000 because of Lampard and Terry's ambition to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

There is competition for Kaka from Real Madrid and the incoming president Florentino Perez has identified the player as one of his three major targets for the summer. However, Abramovich has been given the encouragement that Ancelotti's presence will tip the deal in his favour.
