nadavTKL 1,787
Mirror are running an exclusive that Mourinho wants to sell Oscar and he's after Enner Valencia again.I think Jose really wants another winger, thats why we're hearing about Valencia, Douglas Costa and Gaitan. He know he doesnt have any options on the bench (i think he know Cuadrado was a mistake), he wants to bring in a winger with better ball control. I believe and hope he doesnt want those players to be "Oscar's replacement" in the XI, like mirror are saying, and he'll bring more of a balanced midfielder for his place (Pogba, Koke, Gundogan). Not a natural AM.Right now we dont have any good options on the bench in midfield. Ramires, Cuadrado and Mikel cant fit to the game we played in the first half of the season and the football we'll want to play. If Oscar leaves, we need two players, one for his spot and one for depth. and we need a Matic back up who's comfortable with the ball.A summer of Pogba/Gundogan, D.Costa/Gaitan (if Oscar leaves), and Imbula/Kondogbia sounds like the best case for me. That and a CB. stroey
LAM09 7,100
I really hope we get a quality CM or AMF this summer. I'm quite surprised there hasn't been talk of clubs being interested in Khazri. He would be a reasonable addition to most sides for a bargain price (€15m).
Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
im genuinely already pumped for the summer transfer window lol. Just can't wait to see what the club's next step is, because we can really take that next step if we target some class players. stroey and TheIceMan

Plus I think we need a more balanced player whereas he is very much an attacking mid. Reddish-Blue

Popular Post! Special Juan 28,871 Posted April 16, 2015 Popular Post! Share Posted April 16, 2015 Replacing Oscar with Enner Valencia? How fucking drab is that.....of course I can find solace in the fact it's the Mirror. ILoveLamp, TheIceMan, DCS1984 and 3 others
ILoveLamp 270
Buying someone average like Enner Valencia would be pretty (very?) disappointing. In my opinion, in light of the financial clout we supposedly have, and our aspirations, we need to be targeting the elite such as Pogba, Koke, Reus, etc. People that will be undisputed starters. We don't need Valencia as a back-up striker as Remy is more than able to deputise for Costa, and we'll hopefully have Bamford next season as 3rd choice. Plus West Ham paid something like 12m for him I think, and us paying that or more would be a mistake! yuvala, TheIceMan and Reddish-Blue
kellzfresh 7,229
Enner valencia??? Wtf This is one of the reasons I don't want us to replace oscar, no available improvement replacement except Koke and reus. TheIceMan

Talk about throwing money down a drain.
nadavTKL 1,787
You're ignoring the fact that we dont have any backups for attacking midfield except Cuadrado, and Mourinho for now not using him, so if we repalce Oscar with Pogba/Koke and sell Oscar, we need some more options in the squad. Valencia can be that option. Getting him doesnt mean he's going to get a spot in our XI... The Skipper

yuvala 2,167
We desperately need an attacking player who's a constant threat, so far we only have Costa and Hazard. I'm still pissed that we missed out on Sanchez..
didierforever 7,349
No wholesale changes needed.Get Sterling and a world class CM.CB should be higher on the priority list than sterling.for me no.1 priority - koke/pogbano.2 priority - varane/hummelsno.3 - second gkno.4 - sterling/reus (luxury buy)i would probably put "get a proper matic back up" higher than a RW. We Hate Scouse 10,352
What's going on with Khedira? Is he still available on a free in the summer? If so he's well worth a punt.
MrExcalibur100 7,124
Gaitan will be another Willian/Cuadrado. Far from world class or/and being a goal-scoring threat. Hopefully, the story is based solely on us scouting him rather than genuine interest.

Hopefully, the story is based solely on us scouting him rather than genuine interest. As much as it pains me to say this about a Benfica player, Gaitan is better than both. He isn't much of a goalscorer, true - but he's a fucking magician with the ball on his feet, heck of dribbler. It amazes me how easily he can create goalscoring chances for others. And he can also play as a #10. I'd really like to see him here, but there are two things that don't go in his favor:1- His best position is LW. No way he takes Hazard's place.2- Playing him as a 10 would sort of negate his crossing, on of his strongest atributes. This isn't really really important but whatever.And... He tracks back. iseah100

His stock has dropped over recent seasons. I personally think his chance of coming here went with his form a few seasons ago, but he did buy Juan after all.Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.
