Players like this will become more and more difficult to attract the more perilous our position becomes. Based on the back of a title winning season we have filled the squad with even more middle of the road shite so there absolute no chance of getting players of the quality of this guy even at the end of his career.

Of course missing out on CL we will take a bit of a hit, but we have won the league twice in the last 3/4 seasons. Being based in London and still able to spend large amounts of money, we will still attract good players. Liverpool and Spurs have won nothing since god knows when. We are only behind City and Utd for achievements in the last 5-10 years. If players want to play in the Premier League, it won't matter if we are out of the CL for a season. From the outside looking in, we've only had one bad season and that was under Jose, which was an anomaly. The rest have been successful seasons since 2012 with CL win, EL win, FA Cup, two league titles. I am not trying to be delusional or overly optimistic as I know we may finish outside the top 5, but players don't look at things the way fans do.

He's moaned several times about Bayern needing to spend big to stay at the very top. If he's already doing that with Bayern, do you think he would really choose us given the current state of our club? It's all good pointing out the location or our past achievement but players mainly care about wanting to enjoy consistent success in the future. Apart from winning 2 league titles in last 3 seasons, what else have we really done? The odd domestic cup final here and there and not even anywhere close to winning the Champions League. Unless Roman decides to splash really big money again, there's no way we'll sign the top, quality players, especially if we don't finish in the top 4.

Why can't we look for our very own young Lewandowski.??? Why do we always have to buy a player past his explosive prime??

He’s still arguably one of the top 5 CFs on the planet. If we have a chance and don’t take it because of his age we are stupid.

He would have joined Blackburn if it wasn't for a volcano. Could have turned out to be Modeste or Kalinic

We went/were going that way under Mou until he fucked it up, so can't say much else at this point.

Funny how life turns out. It's all about choices coinciding with fate.

Pietro Pellegri, we could have signed him for £25-35m or so in January

16 yo, youngest player to score a brace in Serie A history, joint youngest Serie A player ever, already big, tall, strong, fast, cannon shot.

Monaco have him now, so in 2, 3,  years , if he lives up to his vast potential, he will sell for well over £100m

Genoa star Pietro Pellegri is reportedly on the radar of Chelsea and Man United

Yes hes talented but he has played 8 games of football in his whole career. And that brace are the only 2 goals he has scored this season. 25-30m for somebody who has played 7 games in Italy. Actually surprised we didn't try sign him because we like expensive young players who have not proved very much, I generally am unsure if he will ever become a top player. I think hes obviously got some talent but he will need what 4 or 5 years playing every week to grow as a player? Why did he not stay at Genoa and do that? Our own Lewandowski? People have been complaining about us signing up and coming players and not more established players for a while now. This just defeats the purpose.

If he's to join us at 29, then he's not/no longer a top striker.

So, if he does join Chelsea, then we probably didn't need him that badly and should have looked elsewhere for more adequate (longer term) options.

He turns 30 this year. So, can't wait for us to pursue all summer only to then realize his age and not offer more than 1 year+ contract and we end up signing some dud from Ligue 1.

The main reason I posted him was to answer the other poster as to why dont we buy our own young potential (emphasis on potential) top strikers. Last year was the year to get him on the cheap. I say we revisit this in 3 years and see how good Pelligri turns out to be.PiPetrPell
