Why's Essien to Madrid stupid, stupid, stupid?

If we're lucky, we'll face Madrid 2 times at most this season.. what he does in for them in La Liga won't have any affect on our season. Surely thats better than him going to Arsenal?

I think its stupid because I want him at Chelsea, he is an excellent squadplayer and I think we could use him this season,
