For those asking why we even bought him in the first place, what were the alternatives at the time? Just coming off a CL win the club (rightly) figured we needed 1 last world class piece up top to complete our team. We were never going to pay the £175m or whatever it was PLUS mega wages for Haaland last summer and Tuchel/the club probably didn’t feel it was worth the risk to sign a kid like Vlahovic who was still a big risk at the time.

We wanted a striker in their prime years. Lukaku was coming off of a top season and had connections to the club already. It all made sense at the time. There wasn’t really any obvious long term alternative.

Dušan Vlahović

In his last 5000 minutes (so not even a full season and a half) of play for club and country, at only 20 and 21 years of age

Vlahovic has 46 goals and 8 assists

this whilst being on far from great teams as well

When he signed i said that i would be happy with goals here and there from him, but the important thing i hoped for was that he not kick a fuss if things arent going his way ie not starter, adapt to the system, be a team player.. now only 6 months in.. damn...

Would say his Chelsea career is as good as close to over, when has the club ever kept unhappy players? Its funny though the video of the interview, he talks about Inter but now their probably doing just as well/better without him and their ultras clearly couldn’t care less.

starting one year ago or so

36 league goals, and 2 more in the Italy Cup, plus 6 for Serbia (and another one that was 13 months ago)

True but being in such a short amount of time and paying all that money. Be interesting to see what happens going forward. Maybe summer? Still not long! Maybe by then he'd upped his game and stopped talking crap. Just a shitty situation really. Not good for morale..and not good for his image really which is his own fault but still. Stupid

that's the type of production we should be seeing from Lukaku, for a £182m (almost a quarter of a billion USD) fucking pound commitment

Aye I would expect the summer.

Tuchel isn’t impressed by the comments and ultimately he hasn’t exactly helped his case with his performances at times (although he has had injuries as well as continuously playing with other attackers and not a fixed combination) so if he still feels that way, I’d guess that there will be some sort of plan hatched.

Also yeah he could potentially kill a bit of morale around the place, the manager and perhaps even some of the senior players like Azpi, Jorginho, Thiago Silva (same sort of player Rom’s meant to be in terms of leadership and experience in the group) have to get a hold of him and say “WTF is this interview about and are you committed or not” and try and get him committed to even the end of the season if he’s on about a return to Inter.

For such an ‘educated man’ who speaks X amount of languages, is apparently very intelligent, he is thick as fuck.

The club clearly thought that we couldn’t just wait another year for a striker. We couldn’t go another whole season just hoping Timo or Kai would transform into a consistent, world class goal scorer.

we lack both vision and common sense in the boardroom

from the stadium on down it is series of clusterfucks

if we had not won the CL, imagine the outlook here

we could have had

Theo £40m

Vlahovic £40m

Tchoumeni £30m

£110m

but I will even add on another £15m to be conservative

so £125m

and shipped

Alonso and one of the MFers for a combined 30-35m or so

not bought Lukaku (looks like we just shit away around £180m total counting salary and fees)

and be have those 3 class players, young players, massive upsides, PLUS save around £5-10m net on fees, PLUS those 3 combined salaries (at say £100K PW for EACH) would not even add up to just Rom's

plus we dump the 2 other salaries (Alonso and a MF)

Signing Lukaku was a much bigger gamble all things considered, and so it's proved.

Furthermore, if we wanted a striker who would score occasionally but do fuck all else we already had one.

Also how long are we going to react to early teething problems by just signing another player? Is next summer going to be "we need to sign a striker because we can't rely on Lukaku finding his former goalscoring self"? At some point we will have to try and make investments work.

Come on. Let’s not act as if Rom has been an unmitigated disaster thus far. He hasn’t been a Torres or a Bakayoko. He has scored some very impressive goals in the PL for us so far and would likely have a handful more if he didn’t get injured and get COVID.

After these comments I’d sell him in the summer if he doesn’t come out and apologize. But there’s an actual possibility that he still goes on to score a load of goals from now until the end of the season.

We shouldn’t write him off as a total bust yet because we’re angry.

What an utter fool, if I were RA I would personally ship him out asap.....vast majority of footballers are nothing but little girls on and off the pitch today.. No pride no honour no foresight.

the warning signs were clearly present at Manure with him

yet we got spellbound on Håland, knowing it was INSANE cash and never going to happen, then panic bought Rom, all because of a Conte one year miracle rehab in another league

my vision will always be buy them young and gifted like Eden, KdB, and Salah

oopsie 🤬
