exactly, we are powerless as fans. You and I both will support whoever is on the team when the PL kicks off, but the board is not the enemy. We have been the most successful club in England for awhile now so lets just wait until the end of the window (or at least july 19th) before we sharpen our pitchforks.

Believe me, if we don't close some signings relatively soon I will be right there with you. But until that time we just have to stay positive that they know what they are doing.

To be honest I never wanted Lukaku, I just took it as giving.

But if indeed we don't want him then I hope we either going for someone else like Morata, Belotti or if we somehow can get Sanchez then that will all we need.

Don't forget we still have Tammy on loan. If he does well he will come to our team next season.

So really just need to get one striker then a back up like Llorente.

Which I doubt because they've proven for 2 years in a row that they simply don't know what they're doing but I just don't care anymore. We are powerless.

Conte will walk. That's the only thing that would really infuriate me.

I 100% agree with you, we must keep hold of Conte. I disagree about the 2 years in a row, Last year was a very successful summer in retrospect Kante/Luiz/Alonso were absolutely integral in winning the league and Bats scored the league winning goal, they might not have been "1st Choice" but they certainly got the job done. The year before yes was a dumpster fire:lol:

I wouldn't sign that contract if I were Conte. Even if he finishes 4th, he can get a job at PSG or Milan next year. If we aren't willing to pay 75m for Lukaku then lol at the possibility of signing a LWB for 60m when we already have a decent one

United only agreed a fee with Everton. If Chelsea accepts to pay the same then it will be up to the player to decide.

Nah mate, it's dead in the water. All agreed with United including personal terms with the player, they wouldn't have made a press briefing about it if that wasn't the case. Imagine the embarrassment for United's CEO Ed Woodward if the transfer fell through after he so pompously told BBC and others that they have agreed a deal to sign Lukaku.

United also have a very close relationship with Lukaku's agent Mino Raiola so the player and his entourage wouldn't dare back out now and risk that. Trust me, even with a higher offer our chances of getting him now are zero so better to move on to other targets.

Just speculating but what happened is probably:

Chelsea negotiates with Everton who don't want to lower their asking price. The club doesn't want to pay that big of a fee for a player with only 2 years left in his contract. Negotiations drag on so they take a time out to focus on other targets(Sandro, Rudiger, Bakayoko,Right Back). United negotiates with Real over Morata. Madrid want Mbappe and until they get him they are in no hurry to sell Morata so they are difficult to deal with. United grows tired of the situation and decide to explore other options(Lukaku). They agree a fee with Everton and possibly had a positive sign from the player himself. Now up to Chelsea. They can offer the same fee as United and try to persuade the player to join them instead or move to other targets.

Strangest thing has happened. Jose want to buy Lukaku.

As always media made a lot of stories that Jose and Lukaku are enemies. What happened was that Jose said Lukaku you won't be 1st choice striker because we bought Costa. Lukaku wanted to play in 1st team so he left to play football. Nothing wrong with that.

His agent is only his representative. If Lukaku would rather move to Chelsea than United then he can only grant his wish. Everton would still get the same fee regardless of the destination so they wouldn't be bothered. It's definitely not dead but only if the club is seriously interested.

I won't get annoyed yet, maybe the board has other options that they are following and maybe Conte never really wanted lukaku. But if by the community shield match, nothing is done, it'll be a scandal. We can't just have this stupid barrier of not spending above £35mil. There's no striker who costs below that anymore

What barrier?

You've seen all of the confirmed evidence of bids made above that level. Unless you are suggesting that those bids are made in full knowledge that they won't be accepted and with the sole intent of fooling the football world that we are trying to improve our squad when in fact we are not. Is that what you think is going on here?

What what if he's not?

Be realistic, who else is out there to buy?

Aubameyang, Morata, Griezmann (Costa plus cash) to name a few. I don't understand how Lukaku was seemingly the favourite choice around here, and the fact that there are other fish available.

Yup, just curious why didn't he try to buy Costa instead. Shit, I'm giving him an idea.

you forgot my #1 choice Belotti! I would be so happy if we ended up with him.

I said him above, but Dingus said what if he isn't in the board's mind. He should be our sole CF target, if Lukaku ends up at Utd.

I heard a know-nothing, Arsenal reject turned journalist, explain to the world this morning that Jose repeatedly loaned Rom out season after season. He actually gets paid for this staggering lack of knowledge.
