Hamon 103
Bring back LukakuKeep Eto'oSign CostaThat's what has to be done. End of story. Also, play every home game next year with two strikers (Eto'o + Costa or Lukaku) and every away game with Costa up front and with Lukaku ready to get on the pitch during the second half. Mufassir08 2,400
Because he asked to leave the club in August? Jose doesn't like players who don't have that desire to fight for what they want. Plus he likes strikers who work hard up front and that's not quite how I'd describe Lukaku at the moment. Great finisher but like Mata, there are questions over his suitability in the system.Selling him to a team who have no manager and managed to spend £100 million to get worse isn't the worst thing in the world. He is a 20 year old young player who wanted to make an impression in a world cup year.If Jose would have assured him that he'll get a chance and rejected his loan request I am sure Lukaku would have happily stayed. On the subject of him suiting our system,Well he definitely suits our system better then Torres and Ba infact I think Lukaku would have been a lethal option for our away games this season.Eto'o for home games and Lukaku for away games would have been fantastic for us this season.Spurs may not have a manager right now but next season will be a different story with maybe somebody like Van Gaal there I can definitely see Lukaku flourishing. If we do sell him I hope we sell him abroad and not somewhere in England. Popular Post! Pizy 18,907 Posted April 3, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted April 3, 2014 I like him but hate his and his peoples' mouth. I don't necessarily WANT him sold but won't be too upset if he is, so long as it's not to a rival side. He's got a terrible first touch and awful composure on the ball unless he's got acres of space. Still doesn't know how to properly use his physical tools, though that's something that will improve. I think he'd only be marginally better than what we have now with his current ability. Think the Sturridge comparisons are off a bit. Sturridge is a much better footballer. He wasn't assured a starting place, in fact he was behind Cole and Ivanovic at the start of the season. He didn't put in a transfer request. He worked his bollocks off, impressed and is one of the players of the season.I would be gutted if we lost Lukaku but I think I could understand Jose's thinking on the matter. Let's be honest, he wouldn't be first choice if we signed Costa so would he be happy? Would he put in another transfer request??As for Spurs, Bale couldn't take them to that next level. Lukaku won't either. Sir Mikel OBE, Fernando, Mohammed Seif and 2 others
Stats 7,142
Would be absolutely gutted if we let him go. Like people say Courtois could be our no.1 for the next two decades, Lukaku can be a key player for us for the next decade. You don't get much strikers as talented as him at his age. I hope these rumours are false. Selling him would be ludicrous. Even he has things to work on, that is fine, he is young but we shouldn't sell him. Regardless if he has spoke out of turn he got 17 PL goals last season and is on his way to surpassing that this season. He gets goals. I would hate to see him go to a rival club but at the same time will hate to see him be sold to anyone even abroad. In a few years time we are going to see him being a total beast whoever he is at and really that should be us. But while is agent may say he is in talks with other clubs about Lukaku I will only read more into it from until I hear from Jose but would totally not make sense selling a striker who is good for most PL clubs now and is only 20. Like WTF? We do set are selves up to be the laughing stock of the league with the way we deal with some of our players.
bababoom 4,478
Are we seriously going to sell another proven young striker to a rival? We did it with Sturridge and look at him now.. im not Lukaku' biggest fan but he scores goals. I've always said he should be our 2nd striker behind Costa (if we get him) next season. I get that we may need funds to buy Costa or another worldclass forward, but we had no problem splashing the cash out on Willian, rumours suggest Costa will only cost 2 million more. Instead of selling Lukaku, we should look at offloading Luiz, Mikel, Ramires, Ba and Torres. Lampard and Cole may also be gone. We need to Buy another Midfielder or two, Striker, left back maybe another CB if Zouma or Kalas isnt ready. Bring Courtious back, and if we really want to splash the cash another cheap number 10 (Lallana for example) becuase right now we only have Oscar who's been woeful as of late. didierforever 7,349
I've heard a rumour that we're allowed to sign players this summer. #mindblownReally dint know that. But why would we when we have such a strike force. Also when you are fighting for the title (which is the least I hope next season), you need more than one good striker. Costa (or whoever we buy) will have a bad run when you would expect the 2nd striker to fill in his boots. Look at city. Look at what dzeko is doing right now, with kun injured and negredo in a slump. That's what u need in a title winning side. I will support whatever decision jose makes cos I love him, but that does not mean I have to like whatever decision he is naking too. Selling lukaku this summer would be a BLUNDER. The only place to be

Selling lukaku this summer would be a BLUNDER.These are all good points, but ultimately the guy put in a transfer request in August. Jose puts a lot of stock in players' character, I mean it was only a few days ago that he questioned the balls of some of the players in the squad.I've wanted to see Lukaku get a chance here for the longest time, but I can see why there are question marks about him. He will score goals wherever he goes but Jose has always asked for more than that from his strikers. Look at Drogba - he scored less goals in each of his first two seasons in English football but he was key to bringing other players into the game. Ultimately I think it comes down to one thing - don't cross Jose.

But as u said, jose questioned the character of the players, does not wanting to play and prove that he is good enough fall in that category. Lukaku had the "balls" to go up against jose, ask for a loan to a team that may very well finish only a place or 2 below ours. Meanwhile, outscoring our strikers combined in the league. I just hope if we sell lukaku, it is not a" personal" decision from jose. Cos as of this moment we NEED lukaku

The challenge laid out before Lukaku and Azpi was broadly the same and they reacted in very different ways. Honestly I wish he hadn't put in a transfer request because it really did fuck us over.
