Hamilton 2,120
No more news on the press meeting today, only thing that has been said is that foreign clubs need to hurry if they want him, cause they would be happy if he stayed another year..My guess they are pressing teams for a bidding war.. BlueLion. 21,491
The fact is no other team have expressed an interest in him. Unless Anderlecht are pressing for Chelsea to outbid themselves, we have to maintain a semblance of realism.
TomCFC 357
Chelsea involved in Romelu Lukaku talks, say Anderlecht Anderlecht have said they are in talks with Chelsea over the possible transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge. The 18-year-old Belgian striker has been linked with a move to the Premier League runners-up for a few months.Anderlecht general manager Herman van Holsbeeck said: "There is still a long way to go in the negotiations."We are indeed negotiating with Chelsea, but there are other clubs we are talking to."The teenager has also been linked with Chelsea's Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham. He was linked with a move to England in January but instead stayed with Anderlecht until the end of the season. The transfer could involve Blues midfielder Kevin De Bruyne joining the Brussels club on loan.Van Holsbeeck added: "It could happen in the next half hour, it could take until 31 August - that is football."Chelsea appear to be negotiating transfers despite being without a manager since May following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti. This week they were reported to have had a £22m bid for midfielder Luka Modric rejected by Tottenham.http://news.bbc.co.u...ll/13817163.stm

Popular Post! Kostas 1,468 Posted June 19, 2011 Popular Post! Share Posted June 19, 2011 According to the latest rumours he'll be announced within the next two weeks.I don't see why we need him with our current set of players but he's young enough to be loaned out or sit on the bench. The club may be trying to get him before he is too expensive so it would make some sense signing him even when we've got more strikers than central defenders. What I am worried about is Lukaku's real quality/potential. I had a chat with a Belgian friend of mine some time ago, who happens to be a youth coach, and he had his doubts about the massive hype surrounding Lukaku. Lukaku's body has obviously matured earlier than normal (premature physical development) and his impressive physical attributes have been the main reason for him being one of the 10 most hyped kids in the world and his goals output in a very weak league. Youth players who impress due to their skill & football vision usually have better chances of becoming successful than those who depend on physical attributes* . Lukaku has often been compared to Drogba but apart from being huge, powerful etc are his technique and first touch equal to the hype he gets and deserving to draw comparisons to one of the best forwards of the last decade? To sum up, he believed that if Lukaku was 24 or 25 years old it is unlikely he would be as famous and sought-after as he is now.Of course no one can doubt that he has enough time to develop his abilities and general play but improving technique to reach the world class level required by a Chelsea striker is a bet that the price being reported doesn't reflect.*ask our very own Carlton Cole Bosnian Blue, LDN Blue, BLionheart and 2 others

Shane 2,275
There's no reason why Romelu can't come in and make an immediate impact. With Drogba, Sturridge, Torres and Lukaku, it gives us 4 very good strikers, and options, and will keep opponents guessing. One week lets say we could go with Sturridge and Torres up top, the next we could have Drogba and Lukaku, with Sturridge on the wing, Torres and Drogba with Lukaku being introduced at half time. It does mean Anelka will probably leave though.

Swoopz 183
more unlikely nowOnly if AVB does not find Lukaku to be as promising as some might believe. Lukaku is a buy for the future, he knows himself (as he stated in interviews) that it could a few years to even break into the first team. So the only reasons why we would not buy Romelu at this point are a. He is not good enoughb. We will play a completely different type of football that doesnt revolve around a poaching striker

LDN Blue 7,903
If we don't sign him.. I can only think it's because Villas-Boas does not want him. If that's the case it shows the board is willing to listen to him about transfers..
Joker10 946
I thought Lukaku to Chelsea was very likely, now with AVB i am not sure because he might prefer Falcao over Lukaku.
ulsterchelsea 3,221
No-one else find it strange that we were in talks with him last week apparently and now all has gone quiet? Maybe its not a player AVB wants
