They indeed was the main factor. But the issue with tuchel it was never about the tactics More so of his persona. His handling of players sometimes really felt sorry for werner and pulisic. Under a different manager they could certainly have thrived I believe. Lukaku " one dimensional" I think youre spot on. Thats my point Tuchel should of steered cleared and said no. Because tuchel dont now how to get the best out of rom lukaku, only antonio conte, martinez does. You have to use him in a certain way. I don’t think Mourinho will get much out of him either again, or even Conte another time round. For instance, I think he would of struggled in our team under Conte in the PL compared to the Inter Milan team he played for in Italy. Does nobody else think its alarming that only Italian clubs are really interested in him? No other big teams from European league had any concrete links - was rumblings about Barca & PSG but knew that would only happen if it was as good as free for either because why else would they sign him? Tuchel should of said no but he pushed particularly for Rom - why? Fuck knows. Was a big mistake. Wanted it to work at first but think that blinded some to how bad he was, although was plenty on here who warned about him coming back too. And even on the likes of Werner & Pulisic, I don’t think it matters how they were or weren’t treated, they are soft mentally. I mean Pulisic sat bitching like an entitled kid about not playing, he was living off of maybe 7 games in a Chelsea shirt. Yet he wrote a autobiography (at what age 22) and made comments about not playing in it. Clearly a little bit soft. Then again Werner, Lukaku… comments about Tuchel’s tactics, how they didn’t suit them to cover up for bad performances also. I think the likes of Tuchel, Mourinho, Conte, Pep, Klopp etc, all these guys will not hesitate to tear somebody to shreds if they have to. Its elite level sport, its about how they bounce back from it. The elite mentality guys do whilst the weaker don’t. Tuchel may be difficult but I don’t think at Bayern for instance or even at PSG it made a huge difference because he works/worked with guys who are of an elite mentality. Even here he had some of these.

Even here he had some of these. It depends if he still got something left in the tank. I read an article yesterday about Mourinho his thoughts regarding securing the transfer. And he basically said I know what rom lukaku needs It's love. Maybe a little bit but it seems like the economics of European football has taken it's toll just a little bit covid, the ongoing war ukraine, Russia. The money has shifted to the saudis. Not too be to hard on pulisic but you are absolutely right some players seem to be both week physical and mentally Back to rom lukaku, he has that bulky frame like wayne rooney does. Those players need to be extra careful with their weight especially after 30 they dont tend to have a long shelf life

Is there even any paper evidence of it? People constantly claim that it was Tuchel's buy, but I totally can't recall anything like it; Sure, he made some snarky comments about us needing a goalscoring striker and perhaps even laid it out to the board that either they get an elite player or we are doomed and it was like quick, one day shopping trip when Marina went to the shop and bought the most expensive thing to prove a point (and tbf, there was NOTHING available on the market back then). Sure, he said it's great to have him here etc. AFTER we bought him, because what was he supposed to say? Tuchel was rather indifferent to transfers and it led to his first falling apart with Clearlake, so why would he push for Lukaku in particular, knowing he will destroy his system and will be playing outside the tactic at all times? She didn't she pennypinched and got this colossal trash instead of paying the 135m for Haaland. Sources said Haaland was open to the move as well but she deemed it as to expensive and bought this cretin instead.

Auba was definitely his buy. Also Law reported back then TT was against Kounde so that's why club got Fofana. I know many were against Kounde but at least he would be available and cheaper. So it would prevented us to buy Fofana and Disasi. He definitely had his say and it was never good. In other clubs as well. If you add dull football we played under him no surprise he is nowhere near top managers we had under Roman. For me is: 1. Mourinho 2. Ancelotti 3. Conte 4. Sarri We played great under Hiddink first spell and Grant but they were too short here and were unlucky not to win major trophies so Tuchel would probably be 5th on my list. I don’t believe for a second Haaland would have picked us. We bid way more than his release clause to get him early in Jbuary that year. But when a journalist asked him about it, he laughed his ass off instead of parroting the usual BS about „great honour to be of interest for such a big club, we have to wait and see“

There was never any evidence we were in the running for Haaland ever barring the links under Lampard before he went to Dortmund in 2019. That was the only concrete links we’ve ever had to him and Frank even said in his second spell last season, he pushed the club to sign him but doesn’t know how close we were to doing a deal. After Erling went to Dortmund it was pretty damn obvious he was never moving here, ever. Well, I thought so anyway, I don’t know about you. Blaming Marina for penny pinching over a deal for Haaland is just typical outrage over something that never happened if I’m honest, its quite laughable. Be like slating Boehly for not signing Jude Bellingham although we were never going to get him. Or even made a bid. 😂

We went for Lukaku because he was 50-60m cheaper overall but as we see right now we lost more in the long run than if we had Haaland now on big wages. I don't remember anyone reporting he didn't fancy us on the contrary we were discussing with Dortmund but they didn't wanna let him go unless we paid over the moon so we turned to the donkey. If Boehly came in that summer I'm pretty confident we would've got him because he would've paid overpaid to get him. Fernando 6,585
So happy this got done this summer. For me the worst buy ever in Chelsea modern history. And that's saying a lot. We had Torres, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Kepa, but for me he is the worst and that is coming from Roman era, not Todd and company era. Vesper 30,171
Video: Lukaku on football heroes, Napoli advice and ‘overwhelmed’ by fans https://football-italia.net/video-lukaku-on-football-heroes-napoli-advice/ (the video has English working subtitles) Romelu Lukaku reveals how Vincent Kompany inspired his playing career, meeting his football heroes, asking Dries Mertens for Napoli advice and being ‘overwhelmed’ by his welcome. Lukaku speaks several languages fluently, including Italian, and sat down with the Napoli YouTube Channel to talk about his life. He confessed to always supporting RSC Anderlecht and the most emotional moment was his debut for them, something he had been “dreaming of since I was six years old. “When I saw Vincent Kompany make his debut, I thought if he can do it, then so can I. Like me, he has Congolese origins, his father is from Brussels, he was in the youth academy. When he debuted, it gave me the extra push to do it too. “When I made my first appearance, my next thought was all about scoring goals, which I did in my second game.” Lukaku’s father was a player at the lower level of Belgian football and that meant his family moved around a lot. “I was very timid as a child, I didn’t talk much to people, as I was so focused on football and quite distant. When I see you are open with me, I will give you my soul, but if I see something else, I am stand-offish. “Football is my work, but also my passion, I try to watch as much as I can.” Icons who inspired Lukaku Lukaku was asked who were his heroes in football growing up and rattled off a list of great names. “Didier Drogba was my idol as a kid, then Thierry Henry, Ronaldo, Anelka and Eto’o. I have been fortunate enough to meet four of those five in my career.” The striker made the transfer from Chelsea over the summer for €30m, confirming that Serie A is his spiritual home after experiences at Inter and Roma. It is also a reunion with his former Inter boss Antonio Conte, who got the best out of him during his career when winning the Scudetto, and he knew Belgium international Mertens would have valuable advice. “When it first hit the internet that there was contact, straight away I saw the Instagram messages pour in from Napoli fans! I spoke to Dries, who I have known since I was 17 years old, and already had a trusted friend who could prepare me for life here. “You can sense that you represent an entire city and its population. It’s a fantastic feeling. It gives you energy every day. When I see players, physiotherapists, waiters, all those who work here, they are all true Neapolitans and love the club. This makes you feel good, but is also a big responsibility.” When he first arrived, Lukaku was presented to the fans at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona ahead of his debut goal in the comeback win over Parma. “It was overwhelmed by my presentation. It was incredible, I was like: wow! I felt such a different atmosphere and a truly positive energy. I scored, but we won, which was the most important thing.”
