TONY PULIS BLASTS ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS

http://www.dailystar...re-Villas-Boas/

Tony apparently does not mind to be breaking the leg of the players after saying something like :pwned:

He doesn't blast him at all. The actual quotes are:

“If you look at the players Chelsea had on the pitch at the end of the game, there weren’t too many under six foot – Jose Bosingwa and Ashley Cole were probably the only two.

“We do the best we can with what we have got. We are not enamoured with the wallet Chelsea have got.

“We haven’t got the great players Chelsea have got. But the players we do have are very honest and give it their best every game.”

Doesn't "blast" him.

Lol...Tony was actually defending AVB from the press by saying his comments abt pushing and showing were taken out of context...

Yet again the media makes a meal of the whole thing...

Guys, here's a positive. AVB is a much better motivater than Ancelotti, that's one thing Carlo didn't have under control last season, also he couldn't reason with players and that's a big reason many of them wernt in form. Anelka for me was someone who had the least feelings for this club, yet he knows this is his last season and he's making huge effort, something he hasnt done in a while. He was good in the Stoke game and brilliant in the villa game.

And look at bosingwa, what a huge difference in this man, especially against the most physical team in the PL. The commentator mentioned AVB had a chat with bosingwa and told him to work harder defensively. And Torres has played much better under AVB so far. But with respect to Carlo, he got Torres dumped on him, who was out of form at Liverpool and had no pre season.

Just thought I'd mention this since I don't think anyone else has.

To be fair, we don't actually know if he is a better motivator, look at the double winning season, did we question whether Carlo was a good motivator or not? i think not.

I think that when we get new manager our players normally start playing well, like Malouda for example, when Carlo came he started playing well for a few games. But who knows, AVB might be getting best out of the players, i guess we will find out soon enough.

I want to make this clear though, I'm not questioning AVB's ability i think he is a top bloke and a top manager. I also agree with you to an extent, but i think it's a bit early to start saying that he's a better motivator and he gets the best out of players, because lets not forget we have only played one match of this season.

Fair enough, but my post is mostly the faith I have in AVB.

AVB on Barca & The Holy Grail....

‘Barcelona are the reference,’ said Villas-Boas, another unashamed admirer of Pep Guardiola’s work at the Nou Camp. ‘They are the reference for everyone in terms of quality, football and the amount of titles.

‘They can beat any team in the world but so can Chelsea. If I didn’t believe that, I would quit the game. I am not going into the game with a losing mentality. I know their game like everyone does. We all want to sit down and watch them play.

‘You just have to believe in what you do and the players you have. We have to believe. That’s what happened with Porto and Monaco (in 2004).

‘Porto put out Manchester United in the last 16. Monaco put out Chelsea and Real Madrid. We can challenge.

‘We have been present in the Champions League throughout, in semi-finals and finals. We want to have the breakthrough this year.’

AVB wants early closure of transfer window

"It should really close on the day that the season starts," he said. "I'm going to propose it. It will be my first time when the elite club coaches meet but I'll propose it. It may look pretty stupid at first but maybe it makes sense because it would give tranquillity to the managers to address their team building. That's fair.

"The proposal would be to close the transfer window when the season starts in that country. At least one other manager is on my side because I spoke about this at Porto last year with my technical staff and I know Porto's current manager [Villas-Boas's former No2 Vítor Pereira] is of the same opinion as me. Porto are a targeted club for the biggest talent and live in an uncomfortable situation as well."

I can see his point about it being a distraction. Although this would mean La Liga & Serie A clubs would have more time, giving them a distinct advantage.

Yeah there's quite a few pro's & con's to this.

And if the proposed idea is for all markets to close that day, he'll face serious competition from the Serie A & La Liga
