I think we're still a bit of that...We always looked like we would score from the set-pieces today....Our pressing game was poor today, and we didn't close down the spaces quickly enough when they attacked thus leaving the back four and Cech needlessly exposed

I'm a huge AVB fan and supporter, but I have to say that Mr.Boas made a few mistakes yesterday. We went into the second half with all players attacking though we were in front, and only slowed down the tempo after we conceded the third goal! I think along with our back 4, AVB has to take the blame for this one.

Plus, I did not like one bit how he explained himself after the match; He seemed to be blaming Mata for the defeat. But I still have every trust in him to lead us out this mess, and bring the players back to confidence after the 2 London derby defeats.

...and this was a game made for someone like Essien. He is exactly the player we are missing (well, the "old" Essien, you know which one). Stabilising in midfield and urging forward when in possesion. I just hope that he comes back strong and adds to our team. It is a shame what happened to him. Hopefully he doesn´t turn into another Hargreaves.

I'll give up on AVB if we keep playing with this high defence line, we've got good defenders why not just play a different way and hold out till January. Last season we where shite but had a good defence.

I would have like to think that if he had been appointed earlier i.e. before/during the summer break, he would have gotten rid of those players. Anyway we did bring in Mata & Meireles who are improvements on what we had.

To be frank... I don't think he would have gotten rid of those players even if he was appointed earlier. I mean, André Villas-Boas seems to be pleased with the squad he has, and especially with Malouda. We don't see any will to make them fringe players. Because, you know, when a manager doesn't want a player, it's easy to work it out.

Yes I kind of get what you mean about Malouda... He does ok when he plays in the midfield like in the CL or Carling Cup games but as an impact player.... he's useless now. To be fair if Anelka had been fit yesterday he would have come on instead of Malouda. I think he's just been hoping that Malouda will come on and bring something to the team but he just isn't doing it anymore. Perhaps he thought during pre-season that he should be given a chance to make an impact before being kicked out immediately (we've seen with Malouda that he's a very inconsistent player. ( shite for almost 2 whole years before 18 excellent months under Hiddink and Carlo). AVB is young, he has been a manager for 2 years. He's bound to make mistakes.

All I'm saying is - give him a season first. If he still is unwilling to adapt and to accept that not all of his ideas are going to work, then I will not be happy either.

Lets say for argument's sake we finish 3rd this season with 80+ points, playing better attcking football, go out of the CL kicking and screaming and pick up one if not both the domestic cups and have younger players looking more ready, do you honestly think Roman will sack him?

He sacked Carlo because we were labouring and stagnating, Scolari was sacked because for a supposed flair anager the likes of West Ham and Stoke were coming to SB and containing us with ultimate ease, we are creating numerous chances under AVB, i would be more worried if we were not creating them (ala Scolari final days).

I still don't think the league is completely beyond us, if we can claw back a 18 point deficit in March to 3 im May, we sure can do 9 in November.

Last season it was Carlo doesn't know how to rotate, now it's Malouda, Anelka, Kalou etc. shouldn't play. This is ridiculous.

Thing is you know whatever style AVB does people will moan..Not just on here but other places and all...if we play either attacking or defensive football/parking the bus after getting a few and not going for more etc there will be moans and groans and all...despite getting the win

Obviously we should in an ideal world be able to both attack and defend but for some reason...well yesterday anyway didnt seem to happen.But its not like it cant be changed and all and come Tues hopfully all be sorted.The defenders will remember wtf they're role is in the game and we can get a run going in all comps again.

No no that part of my reply to you was just a general comment. And I didn't mean those who criticize him = want him to be sacked. Criticism is okay. But I feel like a lot of it is premature because we're 10 games into the season, he's two years into management. Lets wait and see what he does first because he is not a stupid man, he will realize that his ideas don't all work and he will have to tweak them
