I'd still take Lewandowski at Chelsea, even if he misses a sitter in the UCL final..because of his link-up play and team work ethic. Every striker misses the occasional sitter...but Gomez lacks technical ability and he's basically a poacher.

I meant Hummels, Thiago Silva, Ramos and Chiellini have been the best defenders in terms of consistency....and based on this season..Dante deserves recognition. Good purchase for Bayern Munich. Although I do agree that Hummels has had a poor season, not up to his usual standards.
-
I do agree that Mourinho didn't really use the youngsters at Madrid...but to be fair, none of the youngsters seem to be good enough. The only outstanding youngster in Castilla is the young Jese Rodriguez...but he threatened Mourinho by asking to leave...and Mourinho chose to ignore him. Morata is at best a substitute and Nacho is an average player. All in all, Mourinho will never be a youth developing coach, that's just not his coaching style. He's a man motivator and he likes to get the best out of his players...in most cases, he can help players iron out the rough edges from their game.
-
Pique is overrated...he only looks good alongside better defensive players like Puyol, Ramos for Spain, Mascherano at Barca I'd say the best 5 defenders are: Hummels, T.Silva, Ramos, Chiellini & based on this season Munich's Dante.

If Fellaini was effective in a deeper role, i'm sure there would be many clubs chasing him at the moment... If we did happen to switch to a 3-man midfield...Fellaini would be an interesting player to have...but for the pivot, we should look at other options first. As for Khedira...I want him IF Madrid are willing to sell for 12-15 million...if not, there are other options for 20+ million.
-
Nice team....but I'm not sure if we'll get Varane. He's a potential world-class CB...Madrid would be fools to sell him!
-
Bit harsh on Romeu...he's barely had the chance to establish himself in the first team. I do agree that we lack that bit of steel in midfield...would of been interesting to see the likes of Essien, Ballack in their prime supporting our 3 maestros...
-
Thorgan makes it..but Chalobah doesn't? Even though he's one of the best homegrown prospects in England at the moment.
-
Would definitely recall KdB, Lukaku. Not sure about Kalas...probably add him as depth for next season..cause Azpi needs a bit of a rest...and Terry's age is beginning to show. The player I'm most intrigued about is Van Aanholt....do we keep him OR do we sell him? I'd love to see Kakuta at Chelsea...rather than Marin...but for the sake of his future, he should be sold.

I think we'll be able to find an average player for less than 25m, who is capable of scoring tap-ins against small teams. He doesn't fit our style of play. We need a top-class forward to lead the line next season
-
Would like to see Blackman and Loftus-Cheek get a few minutes.
-
I don't see Wenger spending close to 45 million on 2 players. He's more likely to sign Jovetic or Higuain..depending on their wage demands.
-
I like the Welbeck statistic. Conversion rate of 3%.....how many shots did he take this season?
-
Hopefully he makes it at Chelsea...at least as a squad player.
-
I don't think anyone expected Courtois to develop so rapidly in the past 2 seasons. De Bruyne was chased by a few lower-end Italian clubs...but they didn't meet Genk's price from what I remember. As for Azpi, brilliant signing by the scouting department. He'd have to be one of the best value for money purchases of recent times. But yea, I get your point...we made it a priority to sign talented youngsters with high potential...hopefully the investment pays off!
-
I won't compare Oscar to De Bruyne...cause they are both gifted midfielders with high potential. I just think De Bruyne is better suited for the RW role.
-
Maybe Real Madrid will play with some freedom for the last 2 games...cause they know Mourinho's leaving..
-
Unless he's available for 15-20 million...he can be dismissed. If we really want to invest into our CM/DM position...we should be targeting Khedira or Lars Bender (standout season for Leverkusen alongside their young Spanish RB).
-
I thought he got moved forward cause he made quite a few rash challenges as a DM in his early Everton days...and he just wasn't influential from a DM position. He'll go to United cause he respects Moyes and fits his style of play.
-
Fellaini is rubbish in a deeper role.
-
Obviously Chelsea weren't 'forced' into giving Malouda the contract...but based on his performances in the previous season, the club wanted to keep him. No-one could predict that Malouda would be a rubbish player after signing the new contract. If Malouda did care about more than money, he would of taken a pay cut and joined Lyon or one of the Brazilian clubs that wanted him. But, he didn't. All three transfer deals broke down due to 'excessive' wage demands. Conclusion: He's a money grabber

Who cares if you think our bright start in the league would have continued under RDM. Kinda glad Roman or the board pulled the trigger on RDM, change was necessary.

He didn't get tired of the position...he just realised that shouldn't have to play as a RW...when someone as useless as Torres was getting so many chances as the main striker. Also, under RDM his 'role' seemed to change....it was like he was asked to take on defensive duties. And when you tell an unhappy player who isn't playing regularly to be defensive, play for the team....he becomes frustrated & ineffective. Now at Liverpool, Rodgers put faith into him from day one, gave him a bit of freedom...he's happy, he's effective & he's playing for the team.
-
Torres is useless. Keeping him as third choice might have been an option...but would you pay 175,000 a week for someone that can't score goals in the PL. He's only done well in Europa league and a few PL/Cup games...and most of those games were against average teams at best.

Wigan are better in terms of pure footballing ability but in the PL, you need to be effective. This isn't Spain, Martinez had a good plan, tried to play good football but Wigan lack quality all over the pitch. They've been almost relegated for the past 2-3 years, relegation had to happen eventually.. should be interesting to see who gets the job if Martinez leaves...
