I would say our team under Hiddink in 08/09 was better considering that team also showed its greatness in europe, but otherwise I pretty much agree with you.

Yes he has never been that great going forward with the ball, but he is still decent enough, especially if you consider his great defensive contributions. His strengths are his good positioning and fore-checking, both attributes that allow us to retain the ball and keep possession when we are under pressure. Cahill on the left side is much worse on the ball and is really struggling to get our game going when he is pressed by the opposition. Then again he gives us height which is really important against the likes of Stoke or WHU for example. That effectively means Luiz has to build up our game from the back which he has done brilliantly so far in my opinion. His long passing is extraordinary for a centre back.

Indeed. He will never go down as a real legend, because he isn't as good as Terry ever was for us for example, but he will be regarded as a cult hero at Stamford Bridge and will always have the respect from our fans.

Absolutely loved his goal celebration.

To be honest I never felt he was that good in the first place. For sure he has his qualities like a decent shot, but never ever I was convinced that his all round game is good enough for an european top club. Whenever he played for us on a higher level I thought he lacks a little bit of game intelligence. He hopefully will prove me wrong, but I don't think he is a big talent in comparison to Abraham for example. I think it would be better for his career to look after a new (middle class) club where he can show his real potential instead of getting loaned out by Chelsea year after year.

The rumoured third kit actually looks quite nice because I like the combination of the colours, but I don't like the camouflage on it. Doesn't fit on football kits at all.
-
Agree. We need someone who has more technique on the ball and is better in terms of passing than both Marcos and Victor.

This team is much better than our 2012-2014 teams and more balanced and experienced than the league title winning squad from 2015. But no way our current team can beat our 2004-2010 crop.

I just hope we score 2 goals before halftime while conceding none, otherwise we could be in for a long night. Our defenders have to up for it. Great news that Hazard and Cesc start.
-
Yup. Reminds of May 2015 when Mourinho was the best manager of all time according to some users, even though our team showed clear weaknesses towards the end of that season and Hazard had to carry us for some months. I just hope for Conte we don't repeat the mistakes we made in the summers of 2010 and 2015. In both transfer windows we actually weakened the squad or didn't bother to counter our problems, because we won the league.

Luiz will have him in his pockets.
-
I am all for different opinions, but that is just deluded.

Easily the best CB in the Premier League this season. He really matured as a player and isn't so error prone like 4 years ago where he gave goals away every other game. I never thought he would thrive in a 3 mans defence, but fortunately it seems it's rather the opposite. Love the fact he came back to win the league with us.

Hope Fabregas starts today, Matic has been underwhelming for some time..

Altough I have to say that I don´t really know him, its good to read that we are searching after alternatives for our RW spot. I like Willian, but I feel in his four years at the club he didn´t show much of improvement. We as a club want to take the next step, which means to compete for the CL again, so we need the right players to achieve that and I think Willian isn´t good enough to win us games against the likes of PSG, Real, Bayern. As I said he is a tidy player, but his lack of end product is holding us back big time. Bernardo Silva, whom I haven´t watched much, seems like a real prospect. I hope he can develop his decisiveness, because we really need more players who score goals on a regular basis. In the Premier League our top scorers are Costa and Hazard with 15 and 10 goals, but then there are only 2 more players who scored more than 4 goals. Years ago we used to have many different goalscorers in our team, I hope we can build up something similar again, because we would be much more unpredictable to play against.

Don't know about you, but I wish to play United in the final. Would be great to beat Mourinho at Wembley after the comments he aimed at us this season.

His slowing down of our game also gives me nightmares of Anelka in 10/11.
-
Barcelona can have him in the summer..

Nice to see Chalobah in the starting XI again. Refreshing to see a Chelsea manager who gives young player faith by actually playing them, not praising them in the media, while rotting them on the bench.
-
Better times will come for sure.
-
Fabregas has to start the game. He really deserves more minutes this season and he is the right man for flat track bullying.
-
YESS. Always nice to see that Barca lot losing.

Nainggolan would be the ideal replacement for Matic. He is as good or even better at defending than the Serb and in addition to that he is much better when it comes to holding the ball in tight spaces or shooting. And we exactly need more players who are comfortable with the ball to make the next step as a club in order to compete with Europes top clubs again. I mean Kante is decent on the ball, but to see Matic struggling against the likes of Burnley, Swansea with his passing is nerve wrecking and even more so when we play against PSG and the likes. I also believe we can get more years out of Nainggolan than from Matuidi, because the latter is a player who profits extremely from his stamina and speed, both attributes tend to cease in the last years of a footballers career.

3 years too late unfortunately. He will decline further as he will turn 30 this year.
