People often criticize Mikel's role in the squad or in the team saying he's wasting a space/taking minutes from RLC but my god what a performance today. He does the simple things but it offers so much for the guys in front of him. Diego Costa looked like every penny of the 32 million pounds we paid for him as well.
-
Has plenty of ability and versatility for a young guy. Hopefully we can get something done for him. I actually hope nobody posts 'why sign him when we have Bamford' though....
-
Was decent but just slow, times he seemed to take a day and an age to roll it out or even pass it.
-
Remember when people said we should sell him and get an upgrade on our right wing? Ha.
-
What do you think I've been doing all season?
-
Lets be honest, he is an interim manager, on a 6 month contract, not 6 years... he will use mainly the same players Jose did, the same formation and probably just make tweaks to certain things like Benitez did when he took over from Di Matteo. If your expecting him to turn Chelsea into Barcelona/Ajax, using academy products every week then please wake up, it would be suicide for him to rip apart a team that won two trophies a year ago and put trust in unproven and potentially not good enough players. PS. I am still confused as to why RLC wasn't sent on loan, which is mainly Mourinho's fault as he wanted to keep him in the squad despite blasting him in pre-season and subbing him after 25 mins in some game, get him on loan somewhere, you see guys like Solanke and Nathan Ake playing every week and its painful that we have an inferior player in our squad rather than on loan enjoying himself playing every week.

So are you saying we should take a kid who has played 9 times and hasn't ever scored in the PL ahead of Remy/Falcao and last resort Hazard as a false 9 to be our second choice in case Costa or the rest of them gets injured? Not a chance. We are fighting a relegation battle right now unfortunately. We need to score goals to stay up. Although Hazard hasn't score this season I'd back him to score for Chelsea before Bamford, I mean these guys are proven top players. Sure if we were like 10th and comfortable okay maybe time to introduce guys like Bamford since Hiddink is only in charge short term but we are not 10th and we are in a relegation battle.

I will be honest and I can see your point but its not like we have a really young team or really young squad, people seem to forget we have got guys here who have won basically everything there is to win in football at club level and some at international level. Leaders aren't the problem, performances are. We could easily have competed for the PL this season but it really has been a shit season, the manager and players need to take the blame, not a lack of leaders, its not like Arsenal 3 years ago when United and City were demolishing them because they were a team of 20 year olds. Like we saw last summer, you don't need to buy some experienced guy who is going to be only a good fit for the mental side of the game but for me someone who is hungry, will improve and add competitiveness to the squad, guys like Courtois, Zouma, Cesc, Costa, Filipe Luis, Remy, Drogba... although Drogba was a big influence off the pitch (although he played more times than Costa and Remy that year) you look at what Courtois, Cesc and Costa in particular added to the team who lets be honest our first season under Mourinho were beyond average and relied a lot on one guy.
-
Well at least he is better at doing a dolphin impression than the impression of a central defender.
-
Hazard false 9, Falcao, Remy > Bamford...
-
I think we will see more of Traore and Kenedy under Hiddink. Kenedy has looked pretty good whenever he has played this season anyway so I think he will be used in cup games and that more or less every chance he gets as well as time in the premier league for rotation/being substituted in.
-
Diego Costa has to play. His performance and goals against Watford showed he still has lots to offer.
-
Messi and Ronaldo made their debuts for Man United and Barcelona in games they were quite comfortable in and winning if I remember rightly. The point is if you throw 18 year olds in and we keep losing, keep getting out performed its just going to put their confidence down, I am all for seeing us use kids but like when Rafa threw on Lucas Piazon against Villa, we were like 5-0 up. There is a time and place to use young guys. Not going to complain about a point, they smashed us really, Pedro, Azpi and Matic had clear chances but fucked them. A lot of work is needed.
-
Personally I dont think he will come back to be in our squad, I think if he cannot get a game ahead of Chamakh and Dwight Gayle he has no right to even get a game here but if he is included it will be the odd 10-20 minutes every now and then. I mean if Remy and Falcao can't get in the match day squad what chances does he have?
-
Don't know about that, don't think it will be like Lampard when he went to City, that was really a judas moment.
-
Hopefully he doesn't become a left back at all. He has all the skill set to be a pretty good winger I feel, like a younger Arjen Robben maybe, hes direct, skillful and most importantly a very hardworking player. Maybe his decisions still need to improve but hes 19 and is just learning about European football this season.
-
Its just the thing though, is he willing to do it? He only came out of retirement to manage Holland I'm pretty sure and it was just because it was Holland. Would he stay on for Chelsea? Who knows, I mean I am still skeptical how he will do a second time round, the team we had in his first spell was arguably the finest Chelsea team we've had.. also I am a big believer in you should never return where you have had past glories, like Jose did 2 years ago.
-
Hopefully Hiddink doesn't restrict our team playing a RB as LB and either sticks with Ivanovic as right back or plays Azpi as right back with Baba on the other side because despite the success Azpi has had at LB his attacking input has been frighteningly poor (which cant be helped we all know he isn't Maicon or Roberto Carlos but still) as a natural LB could help Eden out big time.
-
He is like 68 or 69 years old, he is not going to manage again after the end of this season I would imagine. He is just doing this for the fact it is Chelsea and it is a 6 months contract.
-
Makes no sense, how is he going to get the likes of Ronaldo, Ramos and Pepe back onside when he fractured his relationships with them in his last spell there? Is he stupid? If Ronaldo has threatened to leave which might make Perez react and sack Benitez what will happen when Jose goes back... I don't know why he didn't go to Roma, he obviously sees himself as too big or too good for them but Real Madrid is going to be a nightmare for him if he still has strained relationships with Ronaldo and co.
-
Yes which goes to show 22 goals in the Ukrainian league is not exactly impressive. Its the Ukrainian league... hes not even as good as Willian was before Anzhi got him, hes beyond average and hes not even a striker, no need for him, if we want a number 10 we need to go and sign someone who is better than Oscar which I doubt Teixeira is. His 3 CL goals, one came against Malmo and two against Madrid in that 4-3 game when they were terribly inconsistent defensively, fair enough still Real Madrid but doesn't mean anything when you saw how sloppy they were. Our strikers aren't doing much but still do you want us to go and sign Jamie Vardy then or Leigh Griffiths who has 15+ goals in Scotland or?
-
So in 11 other games he has scored 4 goals. Big fish, small pond. Not good enough.
-
Regardless of who picks the philosophy or whatever, the next manager has to be the right one that fits whatever direction the club want to go. Ideally it would be Pep but again I don't think Pep will come here, I feel his style has also gotten to the point where even at Bayern they are starting to regress slightly which has me worrying. Mourinho was never going to have us playing brilliant attacking football, even with the squad we have, anyone who thought we'd be able to maintain the style from the first 12 games of last season has to be serious it was Jose in charge, it wouldn't last. The last few years the recruitment has been good, Emenalo has been a big part of that, obviously they had a bigger picture for Chelsea regarding the style and philosophy but Mourinho was never going to have his team playing that overly expansive football week in week out, its just not his forte, they wouldn't be exactly on the same page.
-
Bielsa is not a good option. We need a long term option. Bielsa has had mixed success on the international level but I think his achievements at club level have been poor. He seems to last a year or two then quit/resign/get sacked. No point going for him or even Sampaoli, who speaks no English and has very little success at club level too. The next move has got to be 100% right, no more AVBs or Di Matteos.
-
A new technical director? Fuck sake are people really taking Mourinho's sacking this badly? I think people need to remember its Chelsea FC and not Mourinho FC. We were 16th.... And also to anyone saying we should follow 'City's blueprint for success' are you fucking serious? I'd prefer we followed what we were doing the last few years than aspire to do what City have done....for a start they replaced Mancini because he finished second. Then they have always bought poorly in terms of age for squad building. They throw money at things, they aren't following a long term plan, they aren't bringing young players through. We might not be taking young players through but you look at what we've bought since 2010 in terms of age for building a squad (although not all of them are here now) and its guys like David Luiz, Oscar, Hazard, Piazon, Romeu, Baba, Courtois, De Bruyne, Schurrle, Azpi, Zouma, etc... under 25 years old, who can have resale value as well as the chance to give us 7-10 years worth of continuity in the squad.
