That would be a terrible window. Neither of those players are worth the money. I honestly think Jackson Martinez would flop here. Guarin isn't good or consistent enough for a title contending Premier League side.I'd rather just keep Ba than spending tens of millions on Martinez. If we go after a striker, which I highly doubt we will this window, it's gonna be someone Jose knows is world class. We've been burned too many times before.
-
We lost to this dire Stoke side. And conceded 3 fucking goals! We'd be top if we'd have won that game.
-
Maybe. Arsenal are actually the only side in the top 4 I'll actually be relatively confident about beating. Aguero, Negredo, Yaya etc would terrify me at this moment as would Suarez and Sturridge. Giroud is as bad as our forward at times like today and Özil hasn't been great recently. Think Arse are the most fragile of the big sides and we can intimidate them a bit. Only player of theirs that currently worries me is Walcott who always seems to slay us.
-
Actually, knowing us we'll beat Arsenal like Jose usually does and then turn around and lose to Swansea the next game. Our players seem to always be up for the big sides but look abysmal against weak opposition like we have the last 3 matches.
-
Thank the gods for 3 points. We are BY FAR the worst top 4 side in front of goal. Totally inept most of the time. If we play any good side and fail to score so many times we won't win. Nothing left to say about our defense. Boggles my mind how opposing players can win every single header.
-
Jose needs to impose a "no aerial passes" rule on Luiz. He lobs about 8 passes forward per game that go nowhere and give the opponents the ball back. Just play it along the pitch!
-
We are laughable poor in defense. ANY ball that crosses into our box is an absolute shambles. We make some of the worst offensive sides in the league look good. Embarrassing.
-
They'd have scored 8 if Aguero didn't get injured. Only solace we can take in a game like that is the terrible defenses both of them have. Ours has been comical recently as well, but at least we know City aren't unbeatable. Arsenal just didn't look like they were trying for much of the game.
-
It must be so damn nice having a midfield partnership of Yaya/Fernandinho. Kind of depressing looking at their strikers and midfield compared to ours.
-
Look at City's goal difference compared to ours. Or anyone's this season, really. Have to be favorites playing like this.
-
No matter what Wenger is saying about not buying another striker in January I still think that they'll start dropping points here and there which will bring out the pitch forks again at the Emirates and force him to buy. If a couple of sides like City or ourselves overtake Arsenal and they fall to 3rd and look to be struggling I think they panic buy. Especially because they'll have a really tough CL draw. When they inevitably get eliminated they'll want to make a real run at the league. As far as City goes, who knows. Can see them throwing another couple dozen million £ somewhere. The sheik will get jealous if he sees other clubs spending and will splurge on a new toy. I'm most concerned about what United do actually. Can seriously see them spending a whole boat load of cash to try to save the season and guarantee a CL spot. If they have a good run of games leading up to the window and then spend a bunch of cash they can get right back into the mix.
-
Just as I predicted then. If that's the case we better hope Arsenal, City, and United don't improve much in January or we aren't winning the title this season.
-
It would be just like buying Ba. We bought him just to have another option in our lacking striker department and he's now playing once a month as a sub as soon as we brought another forward in.One of the names you mentioned could actually improve us long term and that's Cabaye. Actually a realistic and likely inexpensive player too.
-
I think City are going to absolutely shit all over Arsenal so we need to be taking care of business here. No fucking around in the first half like we usually do. Hopefully we don't miss 5 easy chances after going up 1-0, it goes to halftime, and then don't do shit for the rest of the game where they come back and win 1-2. This is the classic banana peel match for us. Can't really see any way we should be losing it but we'll find a way to make it tougher than it should be. Palace have looked massively out of their depth each time I've seen them this season. I know they've supposedly been in much better form recently but Chelsea FC shouldn't have any trouble with this lot. Just don't pull a QPR like last season. Or I'll fucking end myselft, lol.
-
We should know by now that buying for the sake of buying is dumb. We were so dependent on Mata so we bought and bought and bought in attacking midfield and we ended up loaning Moses, KdB can't get a game, and one of Willian or Schürrle is on the bench quite often. Depth is one thing but having too many players for one position is possible.Think it would be a mistake to buy a midfielder in January who would just be serviceable for the remainder of the season but isn't the solution long term. We have to stop fucking around with these mid-tier signings and bring our side up a level by buying a world class player or two. When Barca, Real Madrid, or Bayern want a player they go and get them and don't mess about. If we want to be as good as they are that's what we need to do.
-
I really hope we don't buy any of the players we've been linked with as of late. Not of our standard. We need a Gündogan/Witsel/Bender type player. A world class or potentially world class player. Not Guarin. Gündogan's contract is nearly up and we should be offering the moon for him. Go in for him before Madrid or City do. Don't care if it's £35m, just fucking buy him and we'll have a world class midfielder locking down his position for years and years.
-
The thing is, though, that we've had this problem for a few years now and haven't addressed it. Jose insists on using a 35 year old as first choice. Can't see us spending on a huge signing at an inflated price now.The world class midfielder we need is almost certainly already at a CL club, so I doubt their club would sell.
-
Wouldn't bet on it, man.
-
To be completely honest, personally, I'm not really that concerned about the Champions League this season. I'd much rather us get the top class DM and laser focus on the Prem. I think there are several teams in the CL that look a complete class above us and that we won't beat. The Premier League is there for the taking if we just improve in one or two areas.
-
He's absolutely carried them for much of the season. I'd have him without blinking. Rooney/Lukaku as our best 2 forward next season would be immense. Prototypical Mourinho forwards.
-
Would probably cost us £80m at this point thanks to the Bale deal. Spuds were only willing to allow him to leave the league and were still able to get ridiculous money for him. Liverpool would not only be selling their best player, they'd be selling their best player to a title rival and making them much stronger, in turn making it that much more difficult for Liverpool to win the league. In other words, we missed the only chance we may have had this past summer when he kicked up a fuss. I 100% believe that if we'd have jumped in and offered them between £45-55m they'd have sold him to us just to get rid of the headache he was causing them. That, and to make Arsenal look like mugs for offering £40m + £1. Considering Cavani and Falcao went for similar money and the form Suarez is in, that would've been a steal. Fucking sucks.
-
The way we're playing we'll beat Steaua 6-0 and then lose to dire Palace 1-0.
-
Jose is SPOT ON. We should've had the game won in that first half. Should've scored 3 when we were completely dominant but we shoot ourselves in the foot and allow teams to hang around and grow in confidence. We're such a night and day team. We can have games where we're super clinical and then have matches like today where we miss 5 or 6 good chances.
-
We had the perfect opportunity to gobble up points leading up to the Arse match where we could send a message to them that we''really the side to beat. And we lose to bloody Stoke.
