How much would you guess?I'd say Modric type money would get him. At or around 30m, which I'd be ecstatic with is paying.
-
Indeed. Imagine him partnered with Ramires! Our CM would go from being the weakest area of our team to the strongest in the league.
-
I respect your opinion, but if Norwich aren't a lesser opponent (by which I mean if we were to play them in say, 10 straight matches, we'd probably win them all) then who is? Any side in the league that is a possible relegation candidate is a lesser opponent in my eyes.I'm not questioning the importance of the points. We must get the win, but this isn't City or United where we can't afford to take risks with our team.
-
He'd have every big club in the world after him. If you could design the perfect pivot player for Chelsea on a computer this guy would be it. Can't imagine how much he'd cost.
-
Why play Willian? I can give you 30 million reasons! The way we we stole him from Spuds I was expecting him to immediately start playing. We saw what he was capable of last season and he ain't gonna get up to that standard if he's not playing. As for Ivanovic, I agree he's been great but he doesn't need to play every game. This shouldn't exactly be a top opponent. If it were against City I'd obviously start him but Azpi can play these lesser opponents.
-
Almost exactly what I'd go with but I'd have Azpi in there for Ivanovic.Azpi is one of our guys I feel bad for. He looked like he was blossoming into one of the best fullbacks in the country last season and now he can barely get any minutes.
-
If Willian isn't starting against the likes of Norwich then when will he? While we have this long run of highly winnable matches it's the perfect time to give him a consistent run. Schürrle has started to kick in to form recently due to him playing a bunch and a Willian needs the same.
-
As was almost always the case last season, every goddamn keeper will play the game of his life against us.
-
Norwich didn't look at all impressive last weekend against a completely awful Stoke, so depending on the team we field this should be a straightforward and easy 3 points. I'd love to see us field a team with pace down the right. Willian and Azpi, please. Rest Oscar and play Mata at #10 with Schürrle back on the left. Also be nice to see Essien get some action in there partnered with Ramires.
-
Oh god. My twitter timeline is jam packed with journo's gushing and creaming themselves over Arsenal again. PLEASE fucking start losing! Can't stand this shit!
-
Full match video highlights for those of us who couldn't watch? Or at least a Schürrle video?
-
He wasn't shit. He looked like he lacked a bit of match sharpness. You gain match sharpness by PLAYING matches not sitting on the bench every week like he has been.
-
Why isn't Willian starting....
-
I really hope Willian stars rather than Schurrle. If he doesn't start becoming a major part of our side soon then why spend SO much on a luxury player? I hope and expect him to be a nailed on starter like Hazard seems to be when he's fit. Hazard on the left, Mata or Oscar in the middle, and Willian on the right is how I hope we line up most of the time. He needs to get about 3-4 straight starts to get chemistry with our players.
-
He'll be an excellent player soon enough. He's probably the young English player Jose alluded to at the close of the window. United probably just ruined any shot we'd have had if we moved for him when they paid that ludicrous sum for Fellaini. Everton would probably demand £30m+ next summer if they'd even consider letting him go at all. I see him as an awesome, super athletic box-to-box in the future like Ramires rather than an AM.
-
I really HATE whoever decides which CL matches are televised here in the States. For the second match week in a row I don't get to watch Chelsea. Instead they're showing Barca v Celtic which won't even be remotely close on one channel and Ajax v Milan which I have absolutely no interest in at all on the other channel. So fucking annoying.
-
It's just funny how before the season started the media were licking Jose's asshole and picking Chelsea to walk the league and whatnot. Now, after only a few matches, the Arsene Wenger love in is in full effect because Arsenal have swept away a handful of relegation candidates. Jose is now being slated in all the papers for "storming out" of a press conference, Chelsea are "struggling massively," and "they've gotta be missing Rafa now!" Just having a look at our next 10 league fixtures, we have only 1 difficult opponent in City. I could realistically see us getting 27/30 points if Jose has us clicking. Then the media will be sucking up to him once more. Edit- Our next 10 league fixtures: Norwich Cardiff Manchester City Newcastle West Brom West Ham Southampton Sunderland Stoke Palace We should be winning just about all of those.
-
Lukaku/Sturrigde combo could've been lethal.
-
That's Pardew sacked in the morning!
-
Lukaku is making us a laughing stock right now amongst opposition fans. Everton now above us as well. Not that it matters now.
-
Everton play with proper wingers and wingbacks, we don't.
-
Could explain why he's not been himself so far this season. Probably been playing hurt for weeks.
-
Well that's just fucking great...
-
With the exception of City coming up soon we have a fairly easy run of league matches, so this would be the perfect tune up and fitness match for Willian to start. He needs to get a run of games. He'll be devastating defenses soon enough. Schurrle/Mata/Willian will hopefully be our AM.
-
If it were up to me we'd buy Witsel and play 4-3-3 as our primary formation. ---------------Torres/Eto'o------------ --------Hazard-------------Mata------- -----Oscar----Witsel----Ramires----- ---Cole----Luiz--------Terry----Ivanovic-- --------------------Cech---------------------- Who the FUCK is beating that side!? Nobody in England!
