He’s not, but he’s also not worth the massive premium Arse would demand from us for him.
-
Purely based on my eye test he looks like the sort of striker for an Everton/West Ham/Wolves level club. He doesn’t really jump off the screen and wow me. Just looks like a solid, midtable sort of striker.

What you say may be true. But like I said, even if Broja was gone tonight I wouldn’t fancy Balogun. He’s got expensive flop written all over him.
-
Being linked with Balogun when Poch said mere hours ago that we don’t want to block Broja’s pathway doesn’t quite square. They’re actually very similar players. Even if Broja wasn’t here I wouldn’t fancy Balogun. A player who had 1 explosive, breakout season at a small club after looking bang average up until that point is a red flag when it comes to transferring to a massive club.

Doku looks exciting but really tiny. And I have also heard of his injury problems as people here are mentioning. Probably best to avoid. Get a more robust attacker.
-
Was hoping he’d be City bound before we played them. This is going to be a tough match.

I think our spending on £100m footballers is probably done for the foreseeable future now. So waiting until the summer and targeting the likes of Kvara or Leão who are at clubs that will demand well north of that are out of the question. And tbf, I wouldn’t want the club spending that sort of money on a wide attacker with the number of expensive busts there have been in that area at multiple PL clubs. Seems to me like we want to target an attacker who isn’t quite at the top level yet but has the potential to explode and become that with development.
-
£150m Mitoma saga loading for next summer… 🤣🤣🤣
-
Poch’s comments there about not wanted to block Broja’s pathway surely confirms that we will indeed be after more of a wide attacker and NOT another striker. I’m good with that. We just have to make sure we get ourselves one who is clinical and whose main focus is on being aggressive and SCORING goals rather than just creating them like Olise. That’s why I didn’t really get that move. We need a Luis Diaz/Sadio Mané type of attacker.
-
If Maatsen wasn’t here I’d feel differently. But I like the look of him more than Hall. We need to tie him down to a long new deal and use him as Chilly’s rotation option. As interesting as he looked in preseason as a winger/midfielder he has to be used in his proper position and we’re set at LB/LWB for 10 years.
-
Remember very early on after we sold Livramento he performed really well for the Saints and we were a bit annoyed. Same thing with Lamptey when he had those explosive first months at Brighton and there were small portions of our fanbase questioning if we made a mistake selling him because he may be better than Reece. And then that feeling faded completely and we don’t really think much about either of those players anymore. It’ll likely be the same thing with Lewis Hall. He’ll be a very solid player at Newcastle but we are stacked in both of the positions he plays in. We knew with all this spending that some tough decisions were looming. Expect a couple more before September 1.

What an incredible midfield rebuild, man. It almost doesn’t seems real! It would ordinarily take clubs years to phase out an old generation and completely refresh the team with new players. We’ve done it in 6 months! The final pieces for this summer window are a backup keeper and a goal scoring attacker of some sort. And with the way the club are moving I trust that we’ll have something unexpected and pleasantly surprising done before the deadline.

I just watched a YT video of Brennan Johnson. After talking shit about him this morning when we were linked he actually looks……..pretty damn good? 👀 👀 Looks like a players that’s an absolute pain in the ass to play against.
-
Yeah, they went for a lot of players that are just below the level that the very biggest clubs would consider but who had a lot of upside. And when you have a great coach you see the results. I’m hoping we see similar results with all of our players under Poch.
-
You know who would’ve been the picture perfect player for our current side? Someone who we easily could’ve bought before he went to his current club where he’s now untouchable? Isak from Newcastle. Electric pace, great dribbler, can finish. We need your scouts to find the closest player to him in Europe and buy him this window. Someone without the absurd Premier League and/or English tax.
-
Extremely quiet day across the league. I figured a bunch of PL clubs would be wanting to get players registered in time for their second matches this weekend after having a look at their squads in the first match.
-
He’s more of a #8 so we have no need at all for him anymore. Last I saw Napoli were trying hard to get him.
-
I would certainly hope that the 3 at the back system we used against Liverpool was a “needs must” situation because Poch didn’t have the midfielders he needed yet. If Caicedo and Lavia are both in by Sunday I assume we immediately revert back to a back for with 3 midfielders.
-
Medical was apparently done yesterday, media work was apparently done this morning. Where’s the Lavia announcement? We need some good news to wash away all the depressing stuff today, Chelsea! 😭😭😭 Also need him ready for West Ham on Sunday!
-
If Johnson and Barcola are valued at around the same 45-50m and we opt for Johnson it’ll stain our otherwise fantastic summer business.
-
Well, that Chalobah injury could explain why the Lewis Hall potential sale came out of nowhere. The club we surely planning on selling Trev for pure profit and then he got injured and will be forced to stay. So instead Hall has to go to help balance the books.
-
Barcola looks electric on YT, not gonna lie.
-
You mean to tell me we’re shopping at Lyon and not looking at Cherki? 😑😑😑
-
Maatsen is probably a decent emergency option at RB if need as well.
-
Thank fuck we bought Malo Gusto when we did. If we were trying to now after everyone knows we are desperate he’d cost £70m or something. Also, thank fuck we only have 1 game per week for much of the season so we shouldn’t be hurt too much by only having Gusto if Reece is out.
