I view Tyler Adams much like I do Gallagher. Not a midfielder with huge quality on the ball or someone who wows you but they’re players who work their asses off and get stuck in relentlessly. Someone you’d want to have in your squad but certainly not someone good enough to be a first XI player for a big club.
-
I’m not sure I actually believe that we’d sign 2 midfielders. Doesn’t really make any sense. If we get Caicedo then I think it’s him, Enzo, Andrey, and Gallagher as our 4 CM’s. A 5th CM when we are not playing European games is overkill.
-
Tyler Adams stuff popping up again tonight. Caicedo + Adams = 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Adams instead of Caicedo = 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 Though I’m not entirely sure how we have room in the squad for both since it appears all of Carney, Gallagher, and Andrey are staying.
-
Mere days until season kicks off and still not a peep about front of shirt or sleeve sponsor. Nor have we seen the away kit yet.
-
If City get Caicedo the league is even more done than it already has been. And as I’ve mentioned before, it would be really strange if they were willing to pay £90m for Rice, put an official bid in, and then just decided they didn’t want a midfielder at all. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve been stealthily working on Caicedo for weeks. And that could explain why Caicedo hasn’t been pushing hard to join us and kicking up a fuss publicly. He could be waiting for City. God help us if they get him and we end up with some bang average lump.
-
Btw, wtf is Ajax doing? I know they’re a “develop, sell, reload” club these days but godamn! They’re selling their whole team this window! You’d think they’d put their foot down and say enough for this window and they need to keep some.
-
Fully believe Brighton will develop Kudus into the next £80m+ player. He’s perfect for De Zerbi’s style and would’ve been a steal at £34m for us. Way more suited to a high tempo, high pressing style like Poch ideally wants to implement than Olise is.
-
Kudus now may go to Brighton… If this isn’t in some way due to us giving them money for Caicedo I’m gonna be pissed. He should be coming to Chelsea, ffs.
-
So that’s now depth at keeper set and depth at CB set. We’re 100% set at both fullback positions. We’re mostly set in the wide attacking areas. There’s really just that one MASSIVE piece of the jigsaw missing and we all know what it is. It’s pretty insane that we’ve left that move basically for last when it’s the most important position we needed to address. Anything we do in addition to a DM would be a icing on the cake.
-
You’d think we would’ve learned our lesson giving Kepa a massively long contract and the n did in it impossible to shift him out. Now if Sanchez is average like Kepa he’ll also be on a 7 year deal. Damn.
-
As if Palace will accept that for their best remaining player… Why are we even bidding for a seriously injured player anyways, man. Someone who we may not see for months and even then he’ll need another long road to maybe regain his former level.
-
Don’t think there’s any chance we could move Sterling even if we wanted to. Strikes me as someone with an ego far too big to agree to go to a smaller PL club. So unless a top European club came for him that he can agree to he’s going to be here.
-
Wonder if us buying this young Brazilian striker and sending him to Strasbourg means that we’ve moved for him instead of Elye Wahi who was supposedly going there.
-
Bruh, what the FUCK. Another expensive youth player when we can’t find the money to pay up for Caicedo? Or any other first teamers?
-
Yep. He looks very promising and I’d put him in the same boat as Casadei where they 100% look like future Chelsea players but need to be playing every week this season. Both need solid loans.
-
If Nkunku is going to be out for a bit we need to push through Kudus. Someone who can get in and around the box and score goals.
-
Just infuriating how shit our luck is with key injuries.
-
Wouldn’t really call him a power striker. He’s already slow and doesn’t rely on pace or explosive movement. I think Kane will age well like Lewandowski. Another striker who is pretty slow but still lethal.
-
I mean, he’s 29 not 39. He’s got another 5 prime years to win the UCL. Coming here and winning the PL would still be by far and away the high point of his career. One year outside of Europe shouldn’t be a dealbreaker. Not that it matters of course since Levy wouldn’t do it.
-
I pray that it happens. If Spuds sell Kane they’re absolutely done.
-
Him being super slow seems to be completely overblown from the footage I’ve watched. If he’s isolated in an acre of space against a mega quick winger may he get in trouble? Sure, probably. But so would the vast majority of CB’s. He looks like a great athlete to me. There’s no chance whatsoever that Disasi isn’t quicker than Thiago Silva and he has dominated in the PL at age 37/38 with no problem.
-
Paredes is dogshit. There’s a reason PSG haven’t been bothered about him going for a while now. I’d rather have Tyler Adams than Paredes. As for Disasi, I think it’s a brilliant move. Glad to see the club moved extremely quickly and totally silently there. Not only did we sign him within a of couple days of being linked, but we did so before even selling Chalobah. Now there’s no need to rush and panic near the deadline when every club in Europe knows we’re desperate. No panic buying some clown that isn't remotely close to Chelsea quality like Djilobodji or Miazga. I think Disasi is tailor made for the PL. A monster physically, fantastic with the ball at his feet for a big man, and is always fit. As with Reece James and Malo Gusto, we should rotate and rest Thiago Silva often with Disasi to keep them in tip top shape.
-
I’m at the point where I don’t give a shit what it takes, pay Brighton the money. And I was someone who was saying we should walk away after the £70m bid was turned down. But after seeing our potential following all our preseason matches my mind has changed. We are so close to having a squad capable of properly going toe to toe with the other challengers. Caicedo dramatically improves our first XI. Brighton bending us over once again will be super annoying initially but if we secure top 4 in large part because of Caicedo then it’s worth it.
-
Wonder what the deal is with us completing medicals for players and then not announcing them for a long period? I remember there being like over a week between Nico Jackson completing his medical before we announced him. Now the same appears to be happening with Disasi. Know it’s pretty meaningless, but still. Don’t remember it being this way in years past.
-
That’s kind of an insane fee Newcastle are laying for Livramento. Makes what we payed for Malo Gusto look even smarter. And getting that done in the January window makes it that much better.
