The club have done so much right this summer but the biggest mystery and puzzling thing is that we knew as soon as the last season ended that priority position #1 was DM and we’re now scrambling mere days before the new season starts to sign one. Kante, Kova, RLC, and even Zakaria have been gone for ages. A DM should’ve been sewn up a month ago. It’s truly bizarre that we can rapidly wrap up deals for players that we may not see in a Chelsea first team shirt for years for £20m+ each but are dragging and dragging over an extra £20m for a player that dramatically improves us NOW. In a season where we MUST return to UCL football and will have a fantastic chance to do so with 1 game a week.
-
I just hope we have 100% clarity one way or another TODAY so that we can move for one or the other before the game on Sunday.
-
Bayern being willing to spend £100m on a DM is even less believable than Liverpool doing it. Especially as they’ve been super reluctant until this morning to spend huge money in Kane.
-
With Adams signing it’s one of Lavia or Caicedo. Remember that we still need an attacker of some sort who can score goals before this window closes. Maybe another keeper as well if Kepa goes. So anyone thinking we will sign both Caicedo and Lavia now is mad, imo.
-
Law is arguably the most reliable on Chelsea matters. He doesn’t just run to Twitter and report bullshit. If he’s saying it then he must have heard from someone super reliable.
-
If in the end he goes to Liverpool it’s going to be infuriating to see how we bid £80m for him and then instead of stumping up the extra £20m we used that money to buy Ugo, Washington, and Adams. Instead of buying the world class DM that could’ve been a rock in our midfield for years we instead buy average or potential. Liverpool are genuine title challengers if they hijack this.
-
If we miss out on Caicedo it’s a disgrace. Worse still if he haunts us at Liverpool for a decade. I knew it made zero sense for us to be after all 3 of Adams, Lavia, and Caicedo. The fact that Adams now looks done and we’ve put in a bid out of nowhere for Lavia suggests that Caicedo is off to Liverpool.
-
Uhhh. How does Tyler Adams make an ounce of sense if we’ve bid for Lavia AND are still going after Caicedo? Something isn’t as it seems.
-
Let’s see if your source comes through today
-
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Please let this happen! In the short term (next 2-3 years) Spuds will be in the mud if Kane goes.
-
Until there’s been a briefing like there was last night about the Lavia bid then we don’t know whether the bid has been rejected or not. Just wait for that.
-
That’s definitely strange. Saw someone elsewhere mention that maybe we let them keep some of the Livramento money we were owed?
-
We simply cannot miss out on Caicedo at this point. Lavia’s game is not mature enough to be the main, sole DM at a club with top 4 ambitions this season. So if we end up getting him instead of Caicedo we will struggle. But if we get both somehow then who knows how high we should aim.
-
Only way is getting 2 more midfielders makes sense, really. Two DM’s + Enzo in a 4-3-3.
-
Yep. Like I just said, this is Liverpool’s top target so this late in the summer there’s surely no way they’d walk away because of a few million.
-
Anything in midfield after we secure Caicedo is icing on the cake. Just make sure to get him in first and foremost. Getting Caicedo AND Lavia would make this a historically insane transfer window. But it seems almost impossible to believe. Unless there’s some crazy agents fees involved that we’d pay and Liverpool refuse to, I don’t understand why Liverpool would be okay offering £46m but back out at £48m. It makes zero sense.
-
Uhhhh, what?! Reports literally in the same hour that we’ve made a breakthrough with Caicedo AND we’ve bid for Lavia? Whilst also hearing this morning that concrete talks have opened with Adams? Methinks we’re trying to put some pressure on Brighton with this Lavia stuff. But could you even imagine us getting both Lavia and Caicedo? Good Lord, what a midfield we’d have for the next decade….
-
Hope you’re right, mate. But honestly I believe you more than him 🤣 He’s not reporting anything new there.
-
Reading that Steinberg article and it’s really nothing new or different. -Chelsea want him ASAP and ideally before Liverpool at the weekend. -Brighton want the full £100m. -Chelsea not yet sure if they’ll pay that. Literally the same shit we’ve been hearing for weeks.
-
If we get Caicedo, Adams, and that’s it I have a feeling we’re going to be an absolute nightmare to play against and be right there in contention amongst the top 6. But for top 4 we don’t currently have the consistent goal getters. I’m expecting big things from Jackson and huge improvement from Mudryk, Carney, and Madueke but we need another killer.
-
Club brief just went out that we DON’T want Vlahovic. Which is fine with me, but we MUST have someone else in mind for the attacking positions, surely. We’re woefully short on proven goal scorers currently.
-
Damn, I’m just now reading about Tyler Adams’s injury. I was under the impression that he had a somewhat minor injury and was right on the verge of being ready to go. But in reality he has apparently been out for months and is still quite a long way from being fit. Not until after the first international break. So he won’t be ready to contribute any time soon. It’s a serious hamstring injury as well which we have seen firsthand how prone they are to re-aggravating with Kante. And he has a very similar style and game to Kante. Relies on endless running and athleticism.
-
When is Adams expected to be fit, btw?
-
What I don’t understand is why any good young keeper would agree to come here now that we’ve just bought a keeper that will probably be the new starter. Like, why would Dortmund’s starting keeper who is still very young want to come and sit on our bench or merely compete for the starting role when he’s already the #1 at a big club? If Kepa goes and Sanchez is the new starter then any keeper we bring in should surely be an older one who has no other expectation except being emergency cover, right?
-
If Kepa goes I really hope the loan with only a buy option isn’t true. Either sell him for good or make it a mandatory buy obligation next summer. Don’t want to have a “will he stay or will he go” again and again if he’s as bang average at Bayern as he has been here and they decide they don’t want to keep him.
