That’s surprising. Thought he had already had part of his medical here?
-
Man, wtf is this? Just match the damn offer or exceed it by a couple million. They just want their damn money.
-
Feel like the next update we’ll see is an announcement that it’s done rather than us bidding or not.
-
Still no word on whether we’ve matched or exceeded the Liverpool bid yet…
-
Caicedo has been following us on IG for months now. That’s not new.
-
This is the most tiring transfer saga ever. Didn’t think anything would top the Enzo ordeal but this is far worse for me personally. Whether it’s us or Liverpool I hope it’s 100% done and announced by whichever club today so that we can look forward to the actual football.
-
If we end up with Caicedo then Adams is still the perfect backup for him in the squad.
-
Awfully quiet on the Brighton side of things…
-
Put the damn improved bid in before some other insane twist occurs again!
-
Now we wait to see if Brighton agree to fuck Liverpool over?
-
Unless and until he’s holding up the shirt of his next club anything can happen with this dude.
-
At this late juncture you have to wonder what the hell it would even take to swing him back to us. £120m to Brighton for them to fuck over Liverpool after already accepting their bid? £50k per week more in wages to Caicedo? Still seems extremely unlikely.
-
Don’t do it to yourselves, guys.
-
The ONLY way anything can change now is if Caicedo himself tells Brighton that he wants Chelsea and not Liverpool. And he doesn’t really seem bothered where he goes.
-
Club briefing to make it look like we tried everything so our fans aren’t as angry. It’s over. They’ve fucked it.
-
The embarrassment isn’t just that we lost out at the end. It’s that we FINALLY bid what Brighton wanted once it was too late. He’d be a Chelsea player weeks ago before preseason even started if we bid this £100m. If reports are to be believed, this is now the FOURTH time since the Boehly era started that we’ve made a massive bid for a player once it’s too late. -We bid £50m for Lavia right at the deadline last summer. -We bid for Gabriel Jesus once he had already given his word to Arteta. -I believe it was Ornstein who said we put in a last second bid for Mac Allister after he had already agreed with Liverpool. -And now Caicedo The only one of these last second scrambles we’ve won is Mudryk. And that was only because he wasn’t of utmost importance for Arse but more of a luxury signing.
-
We now have no top quality DM and no attacker who you’re 100% confident will score 15 league goals. Two things every team near the top of the table now has.
-
True, they’re very weak defensively at both fullback positions. And unless they sign a new LCB they’re fucked if VVD gets injured again. Completely forgot about Gakpo. By all accounts he’s ready to explode this season now that he’s settled.
-
Lavia would be great as a long term development player who we gradually ease into the starting XI. He’s not ready to start every week as the sole DM in a side gunning for a UCL spot yet.
-
Caicedo, Mac Allister, Szobo and now also TAA in his new role in midfield with Salah, Diaz, Jota, and Darwin in front of them. They’ve now got one HELL of a team. We are nowhere near them now. Or City, Arse, and even United. Then there’s Newcastle and Villa to compete with. Unless our club does something radical over the next few weeks we could be looking at a season only slightly better than the last one.
-
He’s not a pure DM but gets stuck in and pops up everywhere. He’s a lot like Verratti. I don’t even care anymore, we need to be going around to every big club that’s got a top DM and offering a mega price even if they aren’t technically “available.” Make them say no or make the player say no. Go to Inter and make an offer for Barella. Go to Bayern and offer for Kimmich. Go to Madrid and offer for Tcho. Make these clubs say no to £100m when they aren’t doing nearly as well financially as top PL clubs are.
-
The club might want to wait if they were going to announce that tomorrow. Our fans will be brutal if we announce Tyler Adams around the same time Liverpool announce Caicedo. Maybe try to bury it while matches are on on Saturday.
-
Liverpool with this signing have made themselves genuine title contenders and will truly have City concerned about them again. We, meanwhile, have probably fucked our shot at top 4 unless there’s some mystery DM out there that can be transformative.
-
So in the end we WERE perfectly capable of offering £100m and we did so. But in our infinite wisdom we waited until another club entered the race and offered more. Could’ve offered the £100m weeks ago and been done with it but tried to be cute with Brighton by offering £65m, £75m, and then £80m when they were adamant about their valuation. In ONE DAY Liverpool we’re able to swoop in and get it done when we’ve been chasing all summer. Will these jokers take that £100m and offer it for some other midfielder now? Someone who perhaps wasn’t available but their club cannot possible turn down £85-100m? Barella?
-
And what’s worse is that it’s not like the club can go “we didn’t get Caicedo so we’ll go out and get ____ who is just as good or better.” Because there are no DM’s available that are as good as he is. Anyone else we’d be buying purely on potential. Fucking sickening.
