Albert Ferrer was my favorite but he was just a solid RB 7/10 week in week out..albeit good enough to play for Barcelona for about 9 years before joining us and Spain.

Asier Del Horno

i think if no more widemen are brought in this window then Mata will play more games as RF rather than LF. atleast until somebody else is brought in to play there.
-
will never forget today..been at the hossie all day because my mate has awoken from his coma and when i get home i find out we have signed one of the best attackers on the planet for about 10m less than LFC paid for Andy Carroll. who needs E`s when there`s days like these.

i voted Borota because he was my first chelsea keeper i saw. i voted for the Cat because well..he`s the cat. and outside the club he gets no love due to one disasterous second half against West Germany in the 1970 World cup. i voted Cech because of the silverware he has helped us win and although in some aspects of goalkeeping Bonetti may be better...Cech is the only Chelsea keeper that has at times been the best in the world(atleast out of the post WWII keepers).i think he has regained that spot at present.btw. with Bonetti as great as he was, he was never near being the best in the world,i know there were better keepers around during his time, arguably the golden era of keepers but still..ya know Cech is a great keeper at a time when it`s not easy being one due to how the balls don`t fly as true as they used to. the last vote came down to Carlo or Eddie Neidzweicki

to use an american football analogy...Arsenal are full of QB`s who can make nice passes, open up things in midfield but they dont have an O-line(defenders) or Wideouts (forwards) we on the other hand have what they need and they have the kind of players we need. Arsenal fail because they have too many of these creative midfielders but no one to get on the end of it nor keep the opposition out when they blitz. now i`m not a huge Nasri fan but i do think he could help us because he offers us something we don`t currently have.can play wide or inside ,is fast with the ball at his feet, can dribble past players, drag defenders out of position to open up space for our forwards and score goals from midfield.. i would personally rather Mata/Hazard and Modric but i wouldn`t grumble over Nasri if only one of those 3 came with him. i do like DeBruyne too.

he was like the illie Nastase of football..not as talented as illie was in the tennis world..but as eccentric. he was our keeper when i first used to go down the bridge. i think he was one of the reasons my dad was grey haired before he was 30...haha. you just didn`t know what he would do next..sometimes he was brilliant, sometimes he`d be in his own world doing his own thing like it was just a kick around in some town park. i`d love to see that film. is funny how 3 of our top keepers have some variation of the name peter.

Tony Godden-saved 2 penalties in one half at the stretford end at Old Trafford..we got our usual 3 points like we often did when we were a yo-yo club.1-0. he was on loan at the time..ended up signing him permanently and he flopped but will NEVER forget his heroics on that day in about `87 Roger Freestone-yet another welsh goalkeeper that we have had. was number 2 for a few years before going to Swansea City and playing something like 4 or 500 games for them. Steve Francis-my memory of him is blurred..not sure if that`s a good thing or not..ha the infamous Les Fridge.let in 5 goals on debut at the bridge..against Watford,if memory serves correctly,it may have been Gordon Durie`s debut too. as Brian Clough would say "young man you`ve played two games today..your first and your last"!
-
Bos the 1st, had a spell for about 2 months where he was back to his Villa days best for us , though on reflection he was possibly playing whilst turbo charged on Charlie. anyone remember in about `98 when Villa beat us 1-0 at the bridge. we just couldn`t beat him.

i know that would usually work but Kalou needs about 6 swings of the leg before he knees or shins one in from a couple of yards out..teams like West Brom ,Stoke etc..they rarely have that many chances per game for the whole team. Everton seems to be a lil financially paralysed at the moment and can`t afford to buy anyone but need a forward or two...maybe we can trade him for a bag of their mints. i don`t want to knock the young man, i think he`s a nice guy and i wish him well. but the only time i ever want to see him in a chelsea shirt again is during a "legends" tournament in about 20 years time, just so we can sing his song again.

i think it`s something to do with ol` leatherface wanting Yossi. i`m not sure that AVB doesn`t want to keep Yossi, though i`m not sure why he stayed on the bench today when we was crying out for someone like him to open West Brom up either.
-
if that`s the case then yeah i guess it is..just like when Matic went so we could get Luiz. i do wish it was one of Kalou,Malouda or Anelka instead tho..6 forwards, somebody out of those need to go if we adding more in the form of Mata.
-
Kalou doesn`t earn 60k......he just gets paid it! :eyebrows: 55k for Mata is good, hope we don`t end up doing something silly and renew it next summer.upto 80 k or whatever when he`s signed a 5 year deal.

i got chills they multiplying and i`m losing control for the mystery that you`re supplying it`s so mystifying, you better shape up because we need a wing man and our hearts are set on you you the juan that we want you are the juan we want you,you,you,..... i`ll take my medication now... :eyebrows:
-
oh man, what else do you do...shit down the turkeys neck on christmas morning?
-
Mata looks like he`s ours and Jimmy just took the wicket of Sehwag...a pretty good few minutes on the sporting front.
-
sounds like it may not have been Mata but the Green Hornet who arrived!

i`d love to go east of eden and find the duke of hazard in a chelsea shirt. not bad seeing as i`m in a fooked up state. anyway i`d love to see the lad in a Chelsea shirt because like Lukaku i could see him giving his all for Chelsea and being happy to spend the next 10-14 years at the club. the words it`s always been my dream to play for <insert one of the top two teams in his native land here> are not words i ever expect him to utter, with all due respect to the belgian league. maybe someday soon we`ll be throwing brussel sprouts in the air to go with the celery.
-
i`ll shut up now and go in the kitchen out of the way so the party can continue..let`s just say i won`t be buying a shirt with his name on the back. should be good for us when his heart is into the club tho atleast.
-
good stuff. hopefully Roman can lay down the law from the start and make it clear that this club is not a stepping stone to Barcelona or Madrid.
-
fookin hell,if they ever do a Goonies remake, there is Sloth!
-
just catching up on the CFC latest as have been away for a few days ...am pleased to hear we are atleast active in trying to get some width to our team now. DeBruyne/Hazard/Mata. either or all i`d be happy with..i know folks might say "all of them? we don`t need all of them" yeah we don`t need all of them but i`d swap DeBruyne,Hazard & Mata for Malouda,Kalou &Anelka in a heart beat and that`s not bringing in the fact we have already sold a wideman in Zhirkov already. have Sturridge as 3rd choice CF and 2nd or 3rd choice LF/RF

Still waiting for England's "world beating" team
Duppy Conqueror replied to Tomo's topic in Football Chat
poor journalism was around in 2003 too..not a surprise there. the majority of fans are realistic and understand that we are not the worlds number 1 national team anymore but support the team regardless. just like the Barmy Army have always stood by the England cricket team when they were far from the top..these fans may be rewarded in the future just like the Barmy army are now. i`m not expecting England to win a trophy in my lifetime. i never expected Chelsea to win anything in my lifetime nor England to ever be the number 1 ranked cricket side in the world either. life can be quite exciting and full of pleasant surprises when you expect nothing..i`m sure those who are most down on England at football these days are those who have had too high expectations in the past. -
i`ll avoid giving myself a stroke and just dismiss it as complete bullshit!
-
i should imagine Andre gave him the option...i`m guessing Mikel wanted to play to try and escape from his current private hell for a lil while or because he thought it would be something his dad would want him to do. hope his dad shows up safe. p.s. i couldn`t read the link, for some reason my screen freezes when i click on links..so just going off what`s printed on here.
