  1. It did seem abit rash at the time..he was growing into the solid player he has become..we did have an epic midfield during his time here and in the few years that followed tho so just one of those good players that great clubs look for better than.
  2. F.A cup is a major trophy players around the world and at home all want to win.i'm not gonna devalue our times we have won it,because Arsenal are current winners of it.
  3. For years Real have thought they have some devine rite to win their 10th (even tho alot of them were won during a weaker competition) i'd love Athletico to win it. Football is not all about pretty passing patterns..
  4. I don't use the term transistion for us.we are just a top side doing what top sides do,always trying to find ways of getting better.no top side just keeps the exact same squad. There will be changes to our squad but i only see a maximum of 4 new players + loan players returning.i see atleast 6 or 7 leaving but ones where replacements are already here in most cases..e.g Moses,Marin,Eto'o..
  5. He'll be behind Terry John and Cahill Gary for sure and maybe Kalas Tomas... I think one of our young CB's will end up groomed to play the Branislav role.
  6. Torres was the last bad buy really.(out of players anyway) Turned it around well since then, atleast in the buying and selling transfer windows. Not been a fan of some of their loan out decisions.
  7. Well i wouldn't say i'm celebrating his transfer but yeah you can check any Mourinho/Mata related thread..i support both sales. No point keeping players that don't fit what the manager wants when clubs come calling offering more than they are worth to us on the football field in our colours. I don't see anyone completely happy that Luiz is no longer a Chelsea player..just happy that we got so much for a player who is not in Jose's long term plans as a CB or DM. fans putting the success of our team above fondness for any one player.
  8. Jose was hard on Joe Cole and Carvalho back in his first spell but had no intention of selling them. Just like Oscar and Hazard, they were regulars in the team when fit and firing on all cylinders. When players are not being selected very often is a sign of when they are on their way out,not when Jose is being hard on them in interviews, sideline outbursts etc..
  9. That is exactly why i brought up those pre-season tours..just another way of making money to then spend on improving team..just like selling Luiz is. It's what every club has to do to gain and maintain success..especially with FFP. We are a few steps ahead of the likes of Man city and PSG because of us getting wiser to how to strengthen and still abide to FFP rules.
  10. I tend to feel gutted when managers leave..John Neal,Ruud Gullit and Jose being the 3 that stick out..with players it's been alongtime..Pat Nevin in '88 being the last really. Is more expected part of the game for me i guess that players come and go..obviously miss the likes of Carvalho,Ballack,Zola,Makalele etc..but don't get gutted over them leaving..i'm gutted Torres ever joined..
  11. I understand you liked him as did others, but making him out to love the club more than others and whom we may buy in the future.is ignoring the fact that a) not everyone who cares deeply about the club has to be so visibly emotional (i myself have been to 90% of Chelsea games over the last 33 years, but have never cried at a game, even after relegation and 94 cup final, 2008 in Moscow etc..) and b if any other team had bid more for him than us to Benfica,he wouldn't have joined us. He loves playing football and all footballers love playing for big clubs, winning big trophies..i thank him for the good memories, nothing more.
  12. The only reason fans in asia and north america get to see Chelsea without travelling to europe is because of money.no european football clubs are interested in how many fans they have there, only how much money they can get. Selling players that don't fit into our long term plans for a big profit to re-invest it into players that do.is better for our upcoming season than going on energy sapping merchandise tours in the pre-season ,playing against sub-par teams.
  13. We probably had £40-50m in our transfer kitty before the transfer, now we have £100m..i don't think we'll spend it all tho..£75m on 3 top players should suffice..no need to buy a CB. A couple more should be sold in Torres,Mikel..
  14. They can have Mikel for 35m...(12m to sensible football owners)
  15. It seems like Kroos was going to Man U just the other day but now it's off. Willian was having a medical with the white shite till we stepped in. We (as a club) shouldn't back off players we like until the contract is signed.
  16. Part of the deal in getting Luiz was part exchange with Matic..so 21m that we spent in getting Matic back should be taken out of the profit we made, but still good business overall. They helped turn Matic into a great player so the money we gave to Benfica to get him back was well worth it.
  17. 50m for a guy that doesn't appear to fit in with our plans is always good business. Will pay for Costa and leave about 18m in the kitty to go with what we already have for a CM and LB.we have his replacement at CB already signed.
  18. I see Courtois having some teething problems his first year in England..and wouldn't want us having two goalkeepers having to build a chemistry and understanding with our back 4 at the same time,so would keep Cech around for 1 more season.
  19. I think Bamford is on the bubble of our first team squad..ideally a season's loan to Derby if they go up or another premiership team where he would get plenty of games might be the best for him.but i'd rather roll with him than Torres as our 3rd striker and don't want us buying so many strikers that it closes the door on him getting a chance the season after next. I'm not a huge fan of loaning players out time after time..in most cases i prefer to loan a player once or twice at most and use our own coaches to develop them.
  20. Outs -Lampard,Torres,Ba(maybe Eto'o) Mikel,Schwarzer. In - Shaw,Costa,Mandzukic(maybe) Plus bringing back some of our loan outs, promoting from within,Van Ginkel returning from injury etc.. I think that is more likely than a overhaul.
  21. Jaime Carragher can't say more than 3 words without saying Errrrrmm as it seems with all scummy scousers and the way he pronounces winger,Wing-ga...i'm sure Gary Neville (who i like in his current role) would prefer to have Frank by his side.
  22. Putting sentiment aside for the sake of Chelsea's continued quest for glory.i think the time has come to move on from Frank. I would retire if i was him but if he doesn't feel ready to hang up his boots yet,he could perhaps squeeze another year or two in a league that is slower paced. He may have a couple of good games left in him but not enough to pay him for a season. I think JT has to stay as he showed this year he still has plenty of good games in him. I would also keep Ashley for one more year but think that's more 50/50 than Frank and John.
  23. I suspect the Man U offer for Shaw is less than reported in the tabloids. (isn't it always?) I'd say it's probably closer to £21-25m range. I'd personally offer Southampton £20m plus Bertrand and see where we go from there. I'd much rather him than Filipe Luis.
