We can only hope he's speaking truth Term. I really believed Lampard, I was more convicted Terry would do something like this if I'm being honest.
-
You make it sound like he's going for business and investment opportunities. it's besides the point in the first place. This loan is until January. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the MLS season begin in March? How is going to Melbourne for 6 months hampering any of these opportunities. He's a grown man, he doesn't have to go on loan to Manchester City if he doesn't want to. I'm sure they didn't hide the concept from him when he first began negotiating with NYC. Melbourne wasn't the only alternative he could've gone for lmao. As for proving himself at the top level, how exactly does he plan to impress Roy anyway if he's playing sporadically for City (while helping them take points from us). He fully knew what would happen by joining MLS' Manchester City, ignorance is bliss I suppose, but it's not an excuse. I just find it mind boggling how you're so okay with this. you've in the past discussed how there's an emotional connection with this club for fans, it's not just a business. that couldn't be more true when it comes to Lampard, we emotionally invested in him because he appeared to show loyalty as well as class. Loyalty over Royalty.
-
He's going to be playing in America anyway? What difference does this distance make then. it's an excuse to justify this move when I see none for it. He should be contracted from 2015 anyway with NYC so I don't believe in this theory that he had no choice tbh
-
He's definitely got a point about City there though, they're finding too many potential loopholes with FFP. The sponsorship deals, the buying of clubs..
-
I mean I get the charity concept, but this is a ridiculous way to go about it. why not make it an actual tournament?
-
didn't you hear, apparently he "doesn't have a choice".. Like apparently he's been held hostage.
-
Omg, are City actually putting 3 stars over their badge?! Lampard is joining a club with small club mentality... smh.
-
wow.. that's what we're resorting to?
-
Yep, and each season this continues to increase. it's not like Spain where Barca and Real dominate the TV shares, which I think is a flawed system (and why so many Spanish clubs are in the red). It's why promotion to the PL means so much for championship clubs who don't have a massive cash reserve. the TV shares give them a payday tenfold of what they get in lower leagues.
-
Yeah definitely. it's tolerable for preseason, but it really is dull commentary and the coverage could use a massive refurb. Thank fuck FAYC is on ITV4 because even ITV > CTV commentary. I used to love season reviews by a video uploader called Carefree Chris, who's since gone awol unfortunately.
-
we'd also lose out on a lot of money. being on a major carrier like skysports brings in a viewership CTV could never generate alone. You think neutral fans would buy CTV when they've already got Skysports or BT? Not to mention broadcasting rights aren't dealt with by the club. iirc, it's the Premier League itself who organises these things, leaving no room for breaking away.
-
I really can't believe this. of all players. I've really given up on the concept of loyalty now in football.. smh. I'd like to think Terry wouldn't do this to us, but I honestly wouldn't be a damn bit surprised if he does. Lampard must know this is a slap in the face to the same fans he said he couldn't see himself in another PL club. Just imagine.. City will be selling shirts with Lampard's name on it. That alone sickens me..
-
not really because it's almost the same situation. Remy may have a condition, but if it's not affected him thus far, he can be an asset at any top club
-
so my point is, just because a player fails at medical somewhere doesn't mean he can't be a hit elsewhere
-
iirc, he's got a chronic knee injury that's susceptible to future damage.. that's why Stoke said no.
-
Here's one that fucked me up. let's say, for this scenario only, God existed. One day God says to you, to save 6bn people on Earth, he'd have to kill 1bn. However the burden is on you, the proverbial red button. What do you do? Needs of the many outweigh few or an eye for an eye makes the world blind?
-
Demba Ba failed a medical at Stoke before joining Hammers.. he hasn't looked back since.
-
And thank fuck we're not Yea, they're still rivals though in every competition we're in. That still makes it a bitter pill to swallow when a player who did all that you said for us, now would be trying to do it for another club in the same league as Chelsea. Yea he'll demand not to play v Chelsea, but he'll still be in games that will take points off us. He'll be itching to keep playing too, so he won't be the quiet boy training in the corner because he's bored.
-
Yea, but this is a 6-month loan. Even at City he's last on the pecking order, but with Chelsea he'd still be rigorously training under Mourinho, he'd still be a dressing room leader and that in turn would get him on the pitch. Mourinho loves experienced players in big games especially.
-
I hope you're being sarcastic lol. But advocating Lampard for City isn't mindless to me, the club comes before the player. To the club, and the clubs fans, it feels like a betrayal to me. Yeah that's fair enough and again I do understand him wanting to try and showcase his talents at the very top of his game. We won't know what happened between the club and him, in terms of receiving a contract. But I'm sure Roman & Mou didn't tell him he's not allowed back to train. In fact, even Mou said Roman assured Lampard he'd always have a place here... So why not train with us? As for your last bit, he's contributing to their success over us whatever he does. That is already a problem imo. I'm sure he said that about joining QPR. He wouldn't "do that do the fans"..
-
No-one's saying he should give up though, I would never suggest he should retire with us. When he signed with NYC, that was terrific.. He'd make a payday in America while also playing for a club in a league that would never affect us as Chelsea fans. But when he then signs a loan deal, where he becomes eligible to play for a direct title rival? Surely, as a Chelsea fan, this must have some effect on you? He will be donning a City shirt and will play when he's called upon to win them points in the PL, CL etc.
-
Lmao. So you think City won't be using Lampard as a player? Then why is he going to go on loan?! He could easily train with Uncle Harry or Mourinho. He's signing a LOAN CONTRACT where he becomes register. Where he therefore plays.
-
This baffles me so much. He's not going to Uncle Harry's team here.. It's a direct rival who will be fighting his ex-club. Lampard won't be throwing games in our favour. Out of all the clubs who he could "train" with. He could "train" with us ffs.
-
Of course he's a Chelsea legend, for what he's done FOR the club. Tell me how him going to a TITLE RIVAL is not a call of loyalty? If they were pre-Qatar money City, sure.. Go ahead. But a direct title rival? That doesn't bother you one bit?
-
And what if he's then called upon to play? What if he scores a goal that gives them 3 points over us to lift the title?
