Giroud black listed again ? What a pity, it was a game for him. Let's hope we don't regret it !

It's only 1 game and in an open, crazy game but Pulisic is looking better at RWB than CHO and James.

                                                          Azpi - Christensen - Rudiger

                                                                            Mount

Very very short memory... So, for this home match against MU, may be the most important of the season, let's leave Giroud on the bench, play Havertz, Pulisic or Werner and pray what they didn't show yet this season , come back like a miracle for this game. And if the miracle does'nt come, let's hope another miracle, Giroud doing in 15 minutes the thing our young and pacy superstars would'nt 've been able to do in 75 minutes.

Mount was incredibly average under Lampard in the November-January period so what is your point? Tell me how good Hazard/Costa/Fabregas were in 15/16 and 17/18 season? Did their form massively drop yes or no? Hazard in particular(plays in Pulisics position) was awful in both seasons because his team was playing very average. So your comparison is invalid.
Are we talking about Conte's system roles or Tuchels? You do realise there are major differences don't you? Jorginho and Kovacic have a different roles than Kante and Fabregas, so comparing them doesn't make sense to me, no offense. I agree with the wingbacks, they are tasked to contribute in attack, but again it's not to the extent of the contribution that the attackers have to bring. Hence why I said Werner is the biggest problem, and not the only problem.
I don't think you realise that Pulisic had to force his way into the starting XI because Lampard did not rate him. Jesse Marsch, who's the manager of Salzburg said that Lampard did not start Pulisic sooner because of his nationality and not because of his ability. Lampard has had his agendas, and his man management was awful. He even dropped Tomori for Rudiger/Christensen for whatever weird reason. So to use Pulisics situation under Lampard is not the same to be honest. Pulisic should not be in the same situation where he should force himself to earn some minutes, when the players who is ahead him is playing sub-par. The reason why Werner gets some goal contributions is because of the role he has. He is the attacker that is tasked to get in behind and cause havoc with his pace, and thats why he gets more opportunities to score than Giroud. Much like Poulsen who had the same role as Giroud Leipzig(he created chances for Werner), when Werner was actually more clinical than he is now. Giroud was in the World Cup and made Mbappe/Griezmann play much better because of his holdup/linkup play. So the reason why Giroud is not getting as much goal contributions as Werner is because his role is different. He is a better finisher than Werner and we all know that. I just want to see Pulisic in that role, because a fit and an in-form Pulisic has better: ball control, dribbling, link-up play, finishing, movement(compared to current Werner) and passing.
By the way I want Werner to succeed and that's why I'm not writing him off to be good in the future. However we are in desperate times and we should not focus on getting a players confidence up when he is underperforming. We should really focus on getting top four and progressing in the CL. Starting Werner in a crucial game might cost us if you look at his form this season.
But yeah we can agree to disagree.

Werner down the middle will be redundant when we don't have anyone picking out his runs other than Jorginho when 1 of his 10 lob passes actually reach a teammate. If Werner is to play down the middle, Ziyech and Havertz need to both be on the pitch.

I've said it before, but what a professional.
Comes on does the business, doesnt moan when left out just does extra training, keeps himself 100% mentally fit as well as physical.
Easily the most mature in the squad -him and Azpi.
Shame we havent a few more years out of him ⚽🗼

Giroud has to leave the club cos' this season, he won't be as good enough to qualify the team for champion's league or FA Cup final. The same pretentrion, the same blindness for the chelsea fans than for the gooners, same desire of hype, same unnattainable aims. But third place for the londonians, is not an option. It's champion or nothing ! The tenth place...Bye, bye Giroud, we'll see you again for the match againts Athletico, your future club.

The amount of hype and expectation on this guy, sometimes I feel sorry for him. He makes three cross field passes with no pressure on him in a half and Chelsea Twitter once again explodes with hyperbolic praise and sweeping statements. I don’t think there’s any other footballer out there his age with so much hysteria around him. I know they’re fans who are supporting him, but Christ.

If we want to play crosses so badly, fine but vary the crosses. Go high, go low, drill it across the goal, whip it into the box etc. But do we always do? Put high crosses into the box and only Abraham and Giroud have a chance of winning them.
Liverpool and Man City also play with **** ton of crosses but there's variation with them. City, for example, at their best would work the ball wide and look to drill in low crosses for someone to get a tap-in inside the box.

I think we definitely should be able to pull off a decent 4-4-2 as well as a diamond with the players we have if required.
a 2 striker system with Giroud and Werner would give all those old-fashioned centre back pairings a lot to think.
Not sure if Pochettino and his eternal 4-2-3-1 are the way to go tho. Our problems go way deeper than Lampard. We have amassed a squad without real character and it is not fair demand this of the new arrivals. The problem is in the mismanagement of the squad by the board that basically begun after Carlo had the old guard running with the right football. We then had changing managers with very different styles and bought a ton of terrible players for their styles and repeated this like 10 times. We have not really had an identity since and have tried to build a new one from scratch every time.
I do not think Lampard is a goner yet. Not because he deserves more time but bc he is someone who knows the club and knows how to get along with the hierachy. He will get until the leicester game i think.
What puzzles me most is how good we have looked during our unbeaten run. not every game but there were some where we were swaggering around like prime barcelona and dissected teams at will with our passing. maybe the payers need a bit mor efreedom or maybe teams have found us out and thus we have returned to the cross to giroud route...but i refuse to believe it is all been just ziyech's injury.

I do not even care if we play attractive football. if we win matches by crosses and set pieces alone, i am happy as well. but dafuq do we take off giroud and continue pumping crosses and continue letting mount take inswingers straight at their keeper? crossing to giroud was working perfectly fine and yet he takes him off...

now villa are defending for their lives and we have our best aerial threat out. weird decision making from lamps. if there is one game werner is useless in as a striker it is when the other team is back to walls. leipzig had a ton of 0-0s bc of that last season.
