Not like any of them barring Reece, Cole & Moises would be worth that 200-250k p/w wages. Most of the rest would be taking the piss to ask for that/want to leave because we were to offer that sort of wages to that level of player. Plus their on 6,7,8 year deals so there is no rush for the club to bow to any sort of ransoms. Which I thought was part of the reason for having these contracts? Anyway, few names there. Hincapie is more than likely signing for Arsenal in the summer, they’ve a £45m clause in the loan deal that they just need to trigger. Pains me to say it but why is any player leaving Arsenal to come to Chelsea at the moment? Senesi already been ruled out internally by BlueCo going by the information being put out there the last few days - probably a non starter anyway, hes 28… too old. Van der Ven is difficult because he plays at Spurs and they’ve never liked doing business with us. He is also a left footed central defender who’d expect to play every week & we already have Colwill who is no doubt going to be one of the first names on the team sheet when he is fit. The real issue isn’t just finding a top CB, its finding a top CB to partner Colwill. Then keeping Levi fit. If it was anyone from Spurs it would have to be Cristian Romero but doubtful we’d go for him. Again, too old. Ordonez another unproven player with minimal experience at a competitive level but has “potential”. Be good in 2030!! The next 2 CBs we sign realistically cannot be in this mould & we should get rid of at least 2 from Fofana, Badiashile & Tosin. Trevor may go as well who knows, but for me he would be a solid enough squad player. Yes looks like Marmoush is going strangely enough, not sure what happened he doesn’t look the same player he did in that initial 6 months. Cherki’s maybe not been a regular but his contribution in limited mins are pretty incredible - basically a goal or assist every 80 minutes. Not to mention, he missed 8 or 9 games for club & country due to injury from October so no doubt would’ve been more minutes. Not sure where you’re getting your info on Reijnders, he has been a regular starter since going there. 12 goal contributions from midfield in his first 6 months at City also, think he’s started effectively 75% of their games.

They were never going to get an older one, least he looks promising, let's hope he doesn't turn into another Disasi.

He’s the sort of signing that would make sense if we ALREADY had a beast of a CB partner here established to play next to him. That’s why you can understand why Liverpool have also been linked. You drop a highly talented youngster next to VVD and he can grow his way into becoming a top player. What makes much less sense is a club who is already naive and shaky at the back buying yet another inexperienced kid. Especially after briefing every journalist that you want an “elite” CB straight away who starts immediately. After seeing Badiashile, Disasi, and Malang Sarr who all looked very promising in Ligue 1 flop badly in the PL I find it impossible to get excited about this if it happens.

Well speaking of Yoro he was apparently next big thing but after season and a half United fans not happy with him at all.

I have heard and read many times that Jeremy Jacquet is said to be a talent on par with Quenda and Estevao. Every top club has already signaled their interest in him. I think Chelsea only has a chance if they can sign him now in January, just like United did with Leny Yoro in the summer. We would no longer have a chance with Jeremy!

I could understand the interest in Dean Huijsen in the summer but BlueCo have lost the plot since we didn't sign him. Quite unbelievable they think another French youngster is what this squad needs.

I agree we need to upgrade and I cannot believe he is the keeper for the 3rd season running now But he has the second highest clean-sheets this season and the stat about most errors leading to goals is a small comparison pool - Only few GKs have been starting week in and week out for last 2 seasons because teams like City, West Ham, Bournemouth, Brentford and United changed keepers and few others didn't play regularly all the time (Pope, Alisson, Sels) Honestly, he is having a purple patch with a very poor defense.

Sources have told SPTC and The Blues News Feed that Chelsea were in the market for a starting-level centre-back throughout the entire summer of 2025, well before Levi Colwill’s injury. That intent was made clear by their serious pursuit of Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, a deal Chelsea were confident they could complete ahead of other interested clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham, to name just a few. However, Real Madrid entering the race changed the situation. Madrid was always Huijsen’s dream destination as it is with many players, if the opportunity arose. And they were also able to offer significantly stronger financial terms, both in wages and agent fees, than any other club involved. Following the Huijsen outcome, Chelsea continued to actively monitor the centre-back market, with the aim of adding a player of starting-level quality. The only defender identified internally as meeting that level was Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace. However, sources understand Enzo Maresca was unconvinced that Guehi could operate effectively as a central centre-back. Chelsea were also operating in a market that was aware of their intentions, following Maresca’s public acknowledgement of the want for a new centre-back. This inevitably weakened any negotiating position. Despite this, the club continued to scout extensively and explore options. Ultimately, there simply was not a centre-back that Chelsea deemed of sufficient quality available for them to justify acting. Sources have also stressed that no centre-back who moved after Levi Colwill’s injury represented a clear upgrade on Chelsea’s existing options. This was not a Chelsea-specific issue either. Several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle, were also looking to purchase additional centre backs this summer and were unable to secure targets either. Additional reports this week suggest Chelsea have also been monitoring Jacobo Ramón from Como, while Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell has also been scouted. Names such as Marcos Senesi have also circulated, but our understanding is that he is not a player Chelsea are actively considering in this moment. We have consistently reported that funds are available, and that Chelsea have both PSR headroom and UEFA sanction flexibility to facilitate a January arrival. This is not a new development. The next couple of weeks promise to be interesting, and there is cautious optimism that Chelsea can get the right deal over the line.

I expect us to go for Dro with that cheap release clause and him announcing he wants to leave. Just seems like a move we'd be all over regardless of numbers we already got at his positions.

No doubt he’s a talent but for right now that’s all he looks like. We have numerous players of that same profile on our books, though. We need someone who is an instant and significant upgrade on who we have. Not a guy who could become elite 3 years from now.

It just sounds like the board didn't want to keep Maresca for that long but they gave him time due to the club world cup win. Maybe similar to Di Matteo staying after the UCL win

I don’t even think Jacquet looks all that impressive on YouTube. And these are meant to be the highlights of his best moments. Doesn’t jump off the screen as some amazing talent or say to me “damn, this guy instantly benches Fofana or Trev.”

And why buy it now if Maresca already asked for it in the summer? This is absurd. A bunch of amateurs.
