Achempong was playing well in CB But manager decided to go back to his favorite CB pairing of Tosin and Chalobah for the last 15 mins of the game. And they came up with a clownshow in the last few mins of the game. Also., in the 2nd half Sunderland played a low block and we didn't do much. That last part we can hopefully improve if Delap comes back fit. He might be needed to break down stubborn defenses.

Just basically Maresca having zero idea how to play against a low block, then a brain dead substitute taking off Josh who was our best defender and putting Tosin on who cost us the game (again)

Ever since the Tuchel era, one of the worst probably. Badiashile can at least raise his level at times. If we're talking defenders, Gusto on a bad day can be far worse. Tosin is not useless, but he has severe limitations. Switching off and also very passive with his defending. He's a squad player that shouldn't be called upon unless there's absolutely no other option. To think Maresca decided to sub off the best performing CB of the game to bring this guy on is just levels of insanity.

It's a numbers game for these guys, the directors and the recruitment team. Despite the lack of quality on the bench, they will still come back and say they have a gazillion CBs in the squad. Apart from the crazy fee they paid for Fofana, and the insane wages on Koulibaly., they have nickeled and dimed their way towards getting CBs for this squad. Tosin was one of their laziest acquisitions. Bought only because of his Man City connection, and because he was free.

They are good just that not every week they can be on fire, these are the types of games where defense wins you the game. Garnacho scored a goal and he is improving like Gittens. We just need to focus on the defensive side the next transfers windows. Weather the club will do that it's another story For example how is it possible we didn't go for Hincapié where he is sitting in arsenal bench. He would have been more useful to us then Tosin.

Was same last season also. And the season under Poch. Maresca is one dimensional and not the answer. Not sure what else folk expect. I've always found this pep style of football extremely boring. May it die quick and the old school premier league expansive quick physical game return. This is just tiring to watch and be a part of.

I think this is the type of game where we need to win 1-0. The problem is that we don't have a good defense for that and the board have not done much in this department. If we want to improve like arsenal then we need to focus on defense. If not we will continue having these type of games.

Absolute story of our season against every small team we’ve played. Carbon copy tactic from every one because they all know it works. And it’s the most basic tactic any manager can implement with minimal effort. Park the double decker, slow our attack to a crawl, and make the match an almost unwatchable shitfest. Then on the rare occasions they get the ball it’s random heaves up the pitch or long throws. And yet the manager of Chelsea Football Club who has witnessed this SAME EXACT TACTIC about 5 times this season in the PL has found absolutely ZERO way to counter it or get through to the players on how to deal with it. The blueprint is set. Sit deep and run around a lot and you beat Chelsea. Simple as that. We have no ideas, no spark, and no intensity against this setup.
