Hughes resigns as Fulham manager

Fulham manager Mark Hughes has left his post at Craven Cottage with immediateeffect.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City boss guided Fulham to an eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season, with the West London club qualifying for next term's Europa League via the Fair Play League.

Hughes had a clause in his contract allowing him to talk to other clubs following his first year in charge at Craven Cottage.

Aston Villa, who Hughes was linked with following Martin O'Neill's departure from Villa Park last summer, are favourites to land the former Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona striker.

"I hope the supporters will understand that as a young, ambitious manager I wish to move on to further my experiences," he said.

"I would also like to clarify neither myself or my representitive have been approached by another club.

"I sincerely wish Fulham a successful campaign in the Europa League next season."

and as ive said he will always be loved by the blues faithful but eventually we will hit some bad form under Guus if he comes back permanently and how do you know he wont be walking around thinking shit how do i get their form back? something which will ruin the memories we have off his first reign, i dont want him back for that reason, same with Jose. In a way i also wish Carlo walked out after winning the double, same with Malouda aswell.

In fact that match is a point in his favor, not against him.

There was phycological collapse in the first half, and Liverpool scored 2 goals, but in the second half we came with a totally different attitude, and it was Hiddinks work.

It the second half the scoreboard was 4-2.

Thats the difference between the italian and the dutch, the latter knows how to change a game.

Hiddink stopped Barcelona's teams, and managed to scored 3 times against Liverpool in their home. Mourinho couldn't score one single time in 3 attempts.

Are you sure? Inter vs Barca at San Siro was the best game against Barca in the last three years. That game at Camp Nou didn't look good, but I takes a lot of courage to do something like that.

It dont make sense him resigning if he didnt have another job lined up but then Villa could be saying that to ease the media scrutiny. Relieved Houllier stepped down, he would be taking an pointless health risk carrying on.

Henrique Hiddink did well with his tactics in the second half but after winning away 3-1 we should never in a millions years have even given Liverpool a glimmer, Essien and Mikel should both have played DM and if it came down to it just shut up shop and play for the 0-0, it must frustrate Liverpool fans tho they came out of the blocks firing if they did that at home to the likes of West Ham they would have surely walked the league that season that and if Rafa kept his gob shut.
